WIW 05.22 [play ball]

Like yesterday, today I wanted floor-sweeping hems since rain is a-comin tomorrow and over the weekend. The baseball game that I thought was last week is tonight (it's sriracha night!), and though I had hopes of adapting what I wore then it's not quite warm enough for it work tonight. So I kept the jacket, teal tank (unseen), and light shoes though these are my taller cream booties. The jacket is too cropped for the low-rise jeans to wear done up like I had planned. Instead I added my team hoodie and popped the denim moto over the top. Simple accessorizing, just my watch and chevron earrings to add a little more mariner stripe action; finished with matching blue mirrored shades, black foldover clutch, and double-coated mascara and soft cherry-pink lip color for a little extra femme.

As an aside, I haven't had a chance to wash and air dry these flares but I am wearing these with taller heels and they are still too long so I am pretty certain that I will have to go back and have them hemmed up further. I think they need another inch!

It actually ended up being warmer than I expected today (10 degrees warmer), so I spent most of the day sans moto with hoodie sleeves pushed up. Incidentally, we might also go to the game on Saturday for my birthday which is 70s throwback night. If so, I'll be wearing this again really soon. Hmm, maybe with boots and retro cap... Anyhoo, I'm very happy with the extra casual sporty vibe today. Off I go :D

So stylishly sporty witth the hoodie, leather and flares! 70's night is calling your name.....

  • Karie replied 9 years ago

Yay for hot sauce night! OK, so I'm slightly afraid to click on the pic…me thinks by "team hoodie" I'm going to see a Mariners (my fingers hurt typing that name) hoodie…I think I'm brave enough to do it now…deep breath…

Great outfit, and perfect for a ballgame! I like all the elements of white in your outfit - the denim moto, white lettering on the hoodie, and white shoes.

And here's hoping for some wins for our teams - my Phillies could use a few of those right about now too!

I like the outfit, and especially the stripy triangle on the hoodie.  Go M's!

Love the flares (trust you on the length), really love the jacket and was surprised/delighted to see it is Gap. White shoes are perfect too!

Sporty, retro fabness! What a great and totally appropriate outfit for the ball game.

I agree about the hems, they just need a touch more off. BTW, my eagle eyes can see that the tailor did the kind of shortening where they keep the original hem with fading along the stitchline. Am I correct? I can't switch off my sewing brain :)

Happy Birthday for tomorrow lovely lady!

Well you must have been the most stylish person there. Love the hoodie over the jacket. This is such a fab silhouette on you Aida. I can't recall but I think you may be petite and in this you look so tall and lean.

Wow, you are THE most stylish baseball fan! That mariner hoodie is too cute, and you wear it perfectly. I need to find a new team, because I have to wear crayon red to support my hometown team or the team of the city I live in now, and I look loyal, but far from fab. I loved wearing purple in Denver (DD's temporary home). Karie would've loved the action - packed game, won by the Phillies in the 9th!

A wonderful Sporty look.  Great with or without the moto!

Fabulous casual outfit - interesting but not fussy, you know? I agree - another half inch off the hem and the flares will be perfect.

Love!! You look gorgeous in floor sweeping flares! And I love your sunnies. Have fun!

Flares are so amazing on you aida, and I love the dark blue with the light blue. Those earrings were such a perfect choice to echo the little stripes at the top of the blue hoodie. And your sunglasses are great, I need a new pair myself. Hope you had a great time!

Looks great! Like the fit of the jacket with the shirt.

  • kellygirl replied 9 years ago

Super sporty and oh so fun! You look amazing in this casual outfit! LOVE it.

  • Ingunn replied 9 years ago

Great flares! Now I want them, too. I really admire your attention to detail, Aida, such as in how your earrings bookends the stripes in your sweater. The outfit is equally fab with or without topper.

  • Angie replied 9 years ago

Yes. Still a little long, but killer look none the less. xo

A hoodie with a jacket was a staple look for this past winter season and I just adored the mix of casual with business.  Especially when I replaced the jacket with a blazer.  I really like the hem on these jeans.  A great find!

adore the hoodie! I need one for my team. :) it is great with the Moto as well; I hope you get to where it that way sometime when the weather cooperates. what on earth do they give away at Sriracha night??

  • Aida replied 9 years ago

Oh wow ladies, thanks for all the great feedback and lovey comments! I was a little surprised to see this go over so well, but I'm glad it resonated with so many. The game was fun! It was so warm and muggy that I ended up spending most of the game wearing the special sriracha M's tee (photo below, giggle face courtesy of hubby) to keep from overheating. Of course it's too large, so I had to pop a little asymmetrical semi-tuck for some structure ;) I also managed to drop and break my beloved little camera high fiving random people about the win, which was a big bummer but at least I got high fives; guess I'm getting an extra birthday present I hadn't planned on. Thanks for the early birthday wishes!

Diane, great eye that's just what he did. It was one of my biggest concerns, but he did a very good job with it!

JG, I'd offer my team, whose colors are great to wear (white! navy! teal!), but they can be a tough team to root for unless you really love baseball ;)

Rae, it was mostly food stuff but also the team tee I've got in the photo below. A row of fans also got a big goodie bag full of stuff, and all the ballpark graphics were "spicy" themed ^^ They had sriracha garlic fries, a sriracha and cream cheese hot dog (yummy!) and sriracha milkshakes (we only tried the vanilla though there was also chocolate, and it was surprisingly good -- finished it off before the first inning was over!). I'm hoping it's added as a staple condiment, it's so awesome on hot dogs and in clam chowder. There were a few people who had the shirts on and also wore big green sriracha bottle-top hats, that was pretty fun. And one guy got on the jumbotron for chugging a bottle of the stuff, which was pure craziness. A small but really lively crowd!
