WIW 05.16 [zigs and zags]

A quick side story that is probably funnier to those not me (OK also to later me, once I get this resolved): Today my blow dryer quit, just stopped turning on. What's a gal to do when her hair is full of goo and soaking wet?? Well, the obvious option: "blow dry" over a heating vent. Yep. This is heating vent hair, ladies. While I wouldn't recommend this as a styling technique, all things considered it's pretty good ;) I'm unexpectedly happy that it cooled down enough today that I could turn the heat on for a bit! Also that I don't wash my hair daily.

Even though it's 10 degrees cooler than yesterday, it feels warmer than the temps show because it is quite muggy out (here comes that rain). I'd originally planned to wear this to a ballgame which turned out to be next week, but it's perfect for the type of mild weather we've got today. Initially I had the jacket open with a dark teal tank and my gold smoking slippers... and disliked it so much I almost scrapped the look. On a whim I tried zipping up the jacket and it instantly felt a lot better. What a surprise! I did like the look with the gold flats, but today was in a daintier mood so I went with the white pumps instead. Accessorized with a layered coral necklace that only partially shows through the asymmetrical collar, pearl studs, and my sequin clutch for some extra glam. Finished things off with bright orange lipstick for a little cohesion with the coral and an extra swipe of mascara, just for fun. Happy Friday, everyone!

I literally gasped at how perfect this outfit is. Where do I start with what I love in this outfit?!!!

The elegant pumps? The beautiful colour of the skirt? The toughened up vibe with the jacket?

What a gorgeous skirt! I love the hemline, and it looks perfect with the white jacket. Good call on wearing it zipped - that adds just the right amount of structure. And kudos to you for thinking of drying your hair with the heating vent - I probably would have had a panic attack!

    Love.

I love seeing some of your older pieces in action! I love that skirt on you and it looks refreshed and fab with that new jacket! So gorgeous!

ooh I love everything about this!   That jacket is also something I've been looking for and at a good price right now... hmmm

  • dustt replied 9 years ago

Aida - you always have the most intriguing hem lines!! - love this look as much as the dropped hem on the striped dress hem, the scrunchy plaid pants and the pushed up short pants!! - you are a master of the hemline!! The zipped up leather jacket is a great textural play against the floaty skirt but keeps the whole thing very ladylike and COOL!!

I LOVE that skirt! It's brilliant with the jacket and pumps. You figured out a winner during the extra time it took to dry your hair over the heating register. :)

Love the hem of the  zigs and zags:-), and what a great ideea ti zip up that fab moto! YLF Aida!

It WAS muggy yesterday. And my skin felt great.

This was a perfect outfit for yesterday's weather - I wore a jacket too. I always love that skirt on you, Aida. You look hip, elegant, pretty and powerful. xo

So stunning. The skirt is new to my eyes and how fab is it? I love the turquoise tones. The hi-low hem is super and the topper is a perfect choice. I like that you paired a coral necklace with it as I've paired coral with turquoise too, I love the combo.

    Vent hair is lovely btw!

I really like this. Ladylike but not in any sort of watered-down tea way. And a good way to dress up zigzags.

You look stunning!! I want to steal that jacket!!

" . . .but today was in a daintier mood" I love this!... we need to follow our ever-changing moods, otherwise we wouldn't have variety. I love the feminine look toughened up with the white moto. And you hair looks fantastic, the heater vent worked in a pinch. I love your coral lipstick, I've been looking for a coral-y lipstick or gloss with no luck, they all seem too orange to me.

When you can think of scrapping an acceptably good outfit just because you are SURE you can do better, congratulations on your closet curating and styling skills! A commiserations on the hair dryer though... I don't use them but can quite imagine how ghastly it must be to have last-minute wet hair woes.

Now. that skirt. Let's talk about that skirt (and why is it not available o the rest of us?). So perfect for petite Aida. The colours are lovely for a brunette with a peaches and cream complexion, and I love you played that up with coral. And toughened up the flirty hem with a leather jacket. Yummy woman, you look fab!

THAT is heating vent hair?!? Jeez I need to get me a heating vent! Awesome. Love the outfit and how the softness of the skirt plays against the structure of the jacket. Felt a little muggy here too.

  • Neel replied 9 years ago

The heating vent hair is absolutely gorgeous! Beautiful skirt and love the moto zipped over it. Great choice of footwear too! You look lovely as always!

  • Ornella replied 9 years ago

The jacket is amazing. The skirt is fab. And this turned out to be sort of dress rehearsal, except that you'll have cooler temps next week when the game actually is. Challenge: can you adapt the outfit for different weather ;-)

Oh, btw, not bad for 'vented' hair. In fact, amazing.

  • AJ replied 9 years ago

Hey skirt twin! Luv it with the jacket. Whenever I wear my skirt, I don't like to expose the elastic waistband.

Did the skirt float deliciously behind you? That's my favorite part! :)

Vented hair is fabulous! Do you have floor or ceiling vents?

  • MsLuna replied 9 years ago

This outfit has such a ladylike vibe, but with an unexpected edge from the topper! This is fabulous in so many levels!

  • CocoLion replied 9 years ago

First your hair.  I have always wanted hair like yours, from color to curls.  I would never have guessed that it was styled with the heating vent.  You clever girl!

Second the outfit.  I remember that Angie pick skirt.  It's such a pretty piece on you.  Another clever move on your part to combine it with a cropped white moto.  I am starting to want that white moto for myself, because you model it so well!

  • Jaime replied 9 years ago

Gorgeous from heated hair to white points. Love the skirt and the done up jacket!

  • leopardluxe replied 9 years ago

Love the skirt with that moto. Such a fun combination!

...and your heating vent hair looks fantastic. Way to improvise based on the situation!

  • replied 9 years ago

Wow, I love the moto jacket with the pumps, what a cool juxtaposition!  Great lipstick color on you, too.  Fab!

  • Isabel replied 9 years ago

Just lovely !  I really like the orange "peeking" out from your jacket. Always interesting, little surprises.

  • Adelfa replied 9 years ago

I really really love this outfit on you! The proportions are perfection. Something about that blue color really sings on you. The white tied in from top to bottom is so satistying. And I'm seeing what others are, that it's ladylike and sharp all at once. Just lovely.

  • Aida replied 9 years ago

Oh goodness ladies, thank you all so very much! For those interested in the denim moto, I should warn you that it's not a true white but a very extremely light gray. I've been thinking of it as "almost white".

Karie, oh there was definitely some panic -- I was super tickled to realize I could use the vent. And also that no one was home to see me ;)

Dustt, silhouette variety is very important for me so I'm always looking for interesting options.

Angie, my skin (and throat and lungs) also appreciate the humidity. Hmm powerful is interesting, I wouldn't have thought that the case with this outfit. I do like having that bit of power!

Rachy, no watered-down tea here: I make mine with extra leaves (but seriously, I do) :D

Gracie, yes I'm most definitely a mood dresser! Re the coral, I too have that issue with coral. Since I wear sheer lipsticks my natural lip color becomes part of the "final" color, which gives me a little room to layer and create the right corals for me

Ornella, the wheels are already turning!

AJ, the floaty following is my favorite part too :) My vents are on the floor which is good because I'd never make it to the ceiling!
