WIW 04.16-22 San Fransisco motorcycle trip edition

Finally finished the trip collages, whew! Overall, it was very cold, wet, and foggy; 40-50F with mountain passes colder, San Fransisco warmer. But we made the best of it and had fun! I took photos when I could, hope you all enjoy them :) Each day's photos has my WIW as the last in its series, though as far as riding goes I was in #4's gear pretty much the whole time. Each day was also a FULL day on the road, except day 6 and 7 which we split into two days so we could hang out in Portland for a night. (More details in next post for those who feel like reading a novel, feel free to skip!)

Quick trip info:

  • Photo #1, day 1: Everett, WA to Coos Bay, OR ~450 miles
  • Photos #2-4, day 2: Coos Bay, OR to Fort Bragg, CA ~375 miles
  • Photos #5-8, day 3: Fort Bragg, CA to San Fransisco, CA ~200 miles
  • Photos #9-12, day 4: San Fransisco, CA
  • Photos #13-16, day 5: San Fransisco, CA to Grants Pass, OR ~400 miles
  • Photos #17-19, day 6: Grants Pass, OR to Portland, OR ~275 miles
  • Photos #20-22, day 7: Portland, OR to Everett, WA ~200 miles

TOTAL: ~1900 miles
AVG TEMP: 40-50F & raining

* Bonus photo #23: What I usually look like, much more goofy than my WIW photos ;)
* Bonus photo #24: Saddlebag packing list: 3 riding tees, 2 button-ups, 1 sweatshirt (unused), 1 jeans, 1 trench, 1 boots, 1 flats (unused), 2 belts, 2 necklaces, socks/underwear.

OT: Week off

Hello lovely ladies! Wanted to let you all know that I will be offline for the next week for my husband's birthday. We'll be taking the motorcycle down the coast and back up (an interesting packing and style challenge....). Hope you all have a wonderful weekend, week, and weekend :)

Also, Greg hope the site transfer goes smoothly!

End of the week outfits, both worn to work. Had to shake it up since the first part of the week was all the same silhouette, though these have a lot of similarities too. Hmmm....

  1. Wanted to try a fairly voluminous outfit with the new walk shorts, I think it turned out pretty well. (Did any of you guess these boots? I'm glad they ended up with good votes :) ) It was super windy yesterday morning, and I couldn't resist including the far left photo because the wind was so perfect it almost looked staged, hehe! Things I learned: unlined shorts+tights works just as poorly as unlined skirt+tights (see bottom right motion photo, included to remind myself of this).
  2. Felt like a simple outfit today; I have a TON of work to finish -_- These jeans have gotten too large and I've only been able to wear twice (darn rain, shoo!); will have to get them altered at the waist soon.

I enjoyed including a couple motion shots of this week, they help me remember how an outfit moved. Plus they're fun :)

Long walk shorts, part two (photo heavy)

Tried the long walk shorts with boots (#1-4), heels (#5), and heeled sandals (#6). Still unsure about the longer length. Here is a sampling of footwear. I wouldn't necessarily wear this top, it's just what I had on the day I took the photos. Hope some of the boot combos work, I wore one of them today (feel free to guess, you'll see it tomorrow!) :)

Part one found here.

EDIT: I'm not against keeping this pair long and finding a second shorter pair IF the longer length works with some of these types of footwear.

Some outfits for the week, been busier than normal! Not feeling colorful, apparently :) Also just realized these are all pretty similar in silhouette, so I'll definitely be mixing it up for Thursday and Friday.

  1. Saturday, worn to get burgers after having worked at home in my PJs all day.
  2. Monday, worn to work then out for tacos. Tried belting my coat which has gotten to big for me, but it felt fussy and I'm not sure I'll be doing it again.
  3. Tuesday, worn to work then out for the monthly Seattle Type meeting. This felt too western/70s-car-salesman for me; I ended up untucking the top and tucking in the scarf as shown in the lower right mirror photo (pardon the silly pose ^^). Also wore orange lip tint since all the other accents were red.
  4. Wednesday (today), worn to work then will be going out for drinks with friends who just got back from Maui (I want to hear how the snorkeling went! I LOVE fishies!).

WIW 04.04-08

Outfits for the week. All worn to work; #1 also worn out for tacos, #5 also worn out for date night with my husband. It's been cold and rainy all week (what is this, February??), but with the occasional sunbreaks I was able to take photos "in the sun" ;)

  1. New-to-me vintage vest. Raining so hard I had to take photos indoors and actually wear my raincoat.
  2. Sort-of-didn't-rain this day, so I wore my wide leg jeans :)
  3. One of my seasonal goals is to find more ways to wear my denim jacket.
  4. Another goal is to get some mustard accessories; I have none, except this new-to-me vintage silk scarf which I tried tying like a men's tie (half Windsor knot). These are the straight leg jeans I just got back from the tailor, and I noticed after getting dressed that the hems aren't even in height! Have to take them back now...
  5. Giving these shorts a go with a springier outfit, so I went with gray/brown instead of black. Quite happy with this outfit, though the shorts have gotten too big.

Well after the dress post, hope you're not all terribly disappointed but here are two very casual weekend outfits :)

  1. Saturday (new shirt). Worn out to breakfast and errands with my husband, then we met up with a friend for dinner and bowling in the evening. I learned that plaid is fun under black lights.
  2. Sunday (new drapey tee, hemmed new straight-leg jeans). Worn to grab burgers for lunch and be lazy around the house. Inspired by Una's thread about the western look. I am pretending that it's not bloody cold out even though it's still, for some reason, in the mid-40s (and as I write this, it's randomly started snowing outside *sigh*).

Long walk shorts (fit question)

I bought these longer walk shorts (not really sure what this type of short is named?) recently, and I love the wide-leg vibe they have. They barely hit the top of my calf just as it's curving in, so I am still concerned that they may be too long for short me. Photo #1 shows them with heels (looks best, to me), photo #2 shows them with flats (not sure about this), photo #3 shows my knee and calf curve for reference.

The material is heavier, so I wouldn't wear them when it's truly warm out (so.. basically as long as it's below 80F), and would also like the option of wearing them with boots (never done that before). Would love to know what you all think of the length and fit of these, and if you have any styling ideas that would also be fun to hear. Thanks!

WIW for the YLF birthday video

Initially I wanted to recreate one of Angie's outfits, but instead decided to wear an outfit I wouldn't have prior to coming to YLF that's Angie inspired: vintage black and white print faux-wrap dress (newly acquired for my dressy capsule) with knotted black pearls. And my toothy grin for you, Angie :)

Happy 5th Birthday YLF!

WIW 03.30-04.01

End of the week outfits, including today. Been under the weather during this group but was happy with what I came up with (which helps a little!). Still sprinkling in new stuff I picked up for spring, though the persistent rain has made it impossible to wear my flares. All worn to work.

  1. New necklace, cardigan. Felt like being gloomy with the weather; glad to have light gray instead of charcoal for spring, this turned out much less gloomy than anticipated.
  2. New cardigan. This is my first flyaway style cardigan (where have I been, right?). It has a small gathered band across the back which gives it some shape. Not gonna lie, this is one of my fave outfits to date.
  3. Don't worry ladies, I didn't really wear this other outfit, though I did keep the leggings on ;) Thought I'd make it up to you all by sporting tomato red+fuchsia color-blocking for the first time AND wear a skirt! New: tank, skirt, scarf, and polish (sparkly silvery-white). Bonus kitty face included.
