WIW 09.22-28 (slouchy transitional)

Hi ladies! I know I've been rather MIA, but I promise I've been (mostly) keeping up with all you fabulous ladies via my phone. Work is finally settling down, and I should be back on the forum (yay!) starting this coming week. Feeling chatty, feel free to jump right down to the photos.

We've been having fantastic weather here in the PNW the past couple of weeks, my absolute favorite type of fall weather: warm and crisp! The perfect weather for shorts+boots. I missed a full week of it due to illness, so I plan to now milk it as long as possible. Here's what I wore this past week, can you tell I've been really into emerald, rust, and structured slouch? ;)

  1. Saturday: worn out to breakfast, then hubby and I went on a half-day ride out to Snoqualmie. I usually add a healthy dose of white to emerald+black outfits, but was inspired by this outfit to instead add burgundy and make the whole palette moodier; the white polka dots and silver stripes added enough lightness for me.
  2. Sunday: worn to a Mariner's game then dinner with hubby, sis, and her boyfriend. A friend who's a season ticket holder with amazing, almost-on-the-field seats gave me four tickets and we really enjoyed watching the game with him and his son. Later, we caught the replay of the game on TV... and found that we had been on camera. A LOT. I was happy I'd worn something so cute and cheerful ^^ Though, goodness, I sure need to work on my posture.
  3. Monday: worn to the grocery then have friends over to watch football. Felt like being in my PJs all day (last day of my cold, finally), but with company over this was the next best thing: soft oversized wide leg trousers and a loose woven/knit mixed media blouse. Done and done!
  4. Tuesday: worn to work then out to dinner with some friends. I want to try a couple white jean+boots outfits before the rain comes, quite pleased with how Autumnal this turned out. Later I was amused to find that Angie had written about arm parties this same day. Also, these are slouchy skinnies! They're about 1.5 sizes up from "correct", even if it doesn't really show in the photos.
  5. Wednesday: worn to work and the gym. New jacket, hard to photograph the color! It's like a rusty tomato-red, dusty yet saturated. Yesterday was layered bracelets time, so this day was layered necklaces time. Inspired by this color palette; I very much like pairing a single warm shade with cool neutrals, and throwing in some warm taupe was a fun choice.
  6. Thursday: worn to work and the gym. This almost-cropped sweater, which I always have to layer when wearing my normal low-rise pants, worked surprisingly well with these paper bag shorts! I was so happy to not tuck and get a fully slouchy look with it, I'm considering getting another sweater in this same awkward length.
  7. Friday: worn to work, the gym, and whatever is in store for date night tonight. Today ended up a lot warmer than expected, so I scrapped my initial pants outfit in favor of this one. This lovely tweed skirt (which sits somewhere in between my waist and hips) is from the YLF swap back in spring and I'm excited to finally be able to wear it; also a new top. Slightly unusual proportions for me (not particularly leg lengthening nor shortening), but I liked the more relaxed vibe leaving the top untucked gave.
  8. And in an attempt to appease Angie for my long absence, a bonus photo of my off-camera, very toothy smile :}

WIW 07.28-08.03

Well as usual I'm waaay behind in posting my outfits, but I still want to share them. I know most of you are totally over summer dressing and eagerly awaiting fall, but I'm happy to relive as many sunny days as I can even though this particular week wasn't terribly warm ;)

After the first two weeks with the short hair, I was able to settle back into my usual summer style and stopped worrying so much about adding black. After thinking on it, I decided that with the long hair it was very dramatic to have it as the only dark element; with short hair it still adds drama, just less of it. I was very happy to be back to wearing less black! Still into the saturated brights this week, I'd say more than normal.

  1. Saturday; worn out for breakfast, dinner with a friend, then had several friends over to hang out by the fire pit. At breakfast hubby commented that he liked this linen shirt, bright color and creases and all, which was super exciting! But then it bled orange ALL over my white bag :( I suppose it needs a vinegar wash to set the color?
  2. Sunday; worn out for breakfast and later lunch, then my sis came over for homework help. Super duper casual outfit, and these loafers have definitely become my go-to casual shoe this season. I was still in an orange mood, but this day was much warmer than the previous! I think a white or mint belt would've worked better with the colors here.
  3. Monday; worn to work then to a Mariner's game with hubby and a friend. Our friend treated us to the baseball game, lots of fun! Felt like wearing something a bit sportier than usual. I was looking back through my outfits, and noticed that I've managed to wear these emerald jeans to almost every baseball game I've been to this year! Not sure if this is subconscious or just happenstance.
  4. Tuesday; worn to the mechanic and then to work. Wanted to try both a neutral look and wear my neon jewels, but couldn't pick which to go with so decided why not both at the same time? The neon really does glow this brightly, love that!
  5. Wednesday; worn to work. Haven't worn these shorts since last spring since they're a little too big, but hey I loves me a good bit of slouch! So I paired with an equally slouchy sweater and skewed my usual summery-boho with the necklace, boots, and bag. The necklace is fuchsia and pairing with turquoise reminds me of my mom (it's one of her signature color pairings), and it's extra fun because she actually bought me this necklace.
  6. Thursday; worn to work and grocery store. After noticing that I was wearing a lot of orange since the hair cut, I decided I needed a warm-color change. This outfit was on my mind to wear for a while, but never quite felt right with the long hair. I felt really happy in it with the short 'do, though! And of course I just had to pop on a bright red lip to match ^^
  7. Friday; worn to work then date night to an Aquasox game (baseball). I quite like blue, brown, and cream together but I don't often wear it because I'm not usually into earthy for myself; I have to be in a super boho mood for it, like on this day. Decided to play that up and wear my long feather earrings, not sure if they work with the short hair or are just too long for it.
