WIW 09.29 [Angie's Anthro insp: teal, blush, and cognac]

This morning Angie posted a lovely outfit from Anthroplogie that pairs blush, teal, and cognac. Couldn't wait to give it a go, even though this is a little bit warm for today with the jacket on -- but I finally picked up a pair of cognac booties this past Saturday during the Seattle meetup and am pumped! I know the exaggerated flower-pot effect won't be for everyone.

My version turned out much simpler since it's composed of solid colored pieces which causes it to lose a bit of the graphic integrity of inspiration. That bums me out a little, but it still turned out nice and I'm happy wearing it today because of the pretty colors. Plus since I'm still super into wearing patterned stuff being in all solid shades feels weird. So of course I just had to add the patterned clutch in. Thanks for the inspiration Angie, and a toothy grin for you ^^

   Newer: boots, sunnies
   Older: sweater, shorts, jacket, clutch

Fab!  You captured the essence of it, and made it so... Aida.  Nicely done.

Here's a different pattern version of the colors. I coincidentally saw this dress online today and it reminded me of Angie's post.

This color combination as you are wearing it is very fresh for fall.

The colors are really pretty on you, and it's a fun outfit. I admire your panache with dressy shorts outfits.

  • Kari replied 8 years ago

Yes, this color combo is very you! Man. I love blush with your skin tone, and the blush with the Rose shorts is a fun pink on pink combo too.

Lovely colours on you.  I had not realised that you usually/always incorporate a pattern, but of course you do!!

Excellent! I love the blush jacket and it looks brilliant with the teal top. The cognac adds the interesting twist. A+ in SYC!

Love it! I really like how you were inspired by Angie's post and put your own twist on it. I am super impressed that you had the items already in your closet!

Great take on the color combo/outfit Angie posted!

  • kellygirl replied 8 years ago

Ooh, gorgeous! I love this combo on you!

You have done great with the colour combo. Where r the boots from, Aida?

  • Aida replied 8 years ago

Thanks ladies! I was surprised I could pull it all together, since for the more broadly appealing ensemble posts I'm rarely able. Will definitely play more with it.

UmmLila, that's another lovely version! The gray there takes it in a cooler direction, where the cognac here takes it warmer. I'll play with that cooler one, too :)

Lisa, aw thank you. I am never sure how often to post outfits, even though I do take photos daily.

Mona, the boots were from Nordstrom Rack. They're by Aldo, style is called 'Hollee'. I can't seem to find them online anywhere though!

I love that jacket so much! It's great to see it come out to play. What a fun combo.

Post as many outfits as you like!!!

Lovely! You look super pretty Aida! I like your new boots too, they look very versatile

The blush moto jacket is so fab paired up with teal and cognac. The combination looks fresh for fall.

This is a great colour combination which looks so fresh. Your new boots look fantastic worn with shorts - what a great transitional weather outfit.

Wow! For some reason I thought you had put this together before Angie's post... But I am still impressed and admire the color scheme. You lovely thing you!

  • lyn67 replied 8 years ago

Wow! I wasn't really impressed by that color scheme, it felt too retro for my like-esp. from waist up. But in your outfit  everything is much more down to earth, if you know what I mean, and actually like it on you!

Gorgeous! What a lovely colour combination this is. I missed Angie's thread as I've been busy and not on YLF much....but I can see you've captured the colours beautifully. Love your new boots and I don't mind the wider opening on your calves....funny, but I think I would mind it more if the boot shaft were shorter, but it works with them being higher on your leg.

  • Sara L. replied 8 years ago

Great outfit!  I love your shorts with the jacket and boots.  The boots look good to me.  I think Diane G is right about how it's the higher shaft that helps make them look ok.

  • Angie replied 8 years ago

Have you cut your hair, Aida?

A fabulous and fun rendition. Nicely done. (See - all colours go together, don't they? High five).

  • Aida replied 8 years ago

Thanks for the lovely comments ladies!

Una, I'm sure I've paired various sections of this outfit before (particularly sweater+jacket and jacket+shorts) but not all together.

Lyn, yes I definitely ended up with something less retro looking!

Diane and Sara, interesting! I have boots at all shaft heights that flower-pot as it's a look I like for my own style. Never really thought about how the shaft height affects the look, but it certainly does. In my boots the taller the shaft, the less pronounced the effect; I'm usually most concerned with the type and amount of slouch.

Angie, heee yes they sure do! My new favorite color mantra (was already pretty much doing it ;) ). No worries, I haven't cut my hair -- just pinned the ends under and let the shorter layers out overtop ^^

Fun, Aida....what a gorgeous color combo. It's pretty neat you had all the colors in your closet to make this happen. I love the patterned clutch...adds an extra edge to a great outfit!

  • Aida replied 8 years ago

Thanks Carole! I was tickled I had the colors already, somehow I normally don't even though I do wear a lot of different colors.
