[seasons challenge roundup]

I really enjoyed participating in Diane's Seasons Challenge, and especially enjoyed all the outfits everyone came up with. It's always amazing to see how many different interpretations come out of the same images. I'm mainly posting this for easy future reference for myself, but I do have a few thoughts that came up written at the end.

09.14 : red frosted leaves
  Newer: sunnies
Older: blazer, tee, jeans, sneakers, belt, clutch, earrings

09.15 : red poppies
  Newer: jeans, sunnies
  Older: sweater, booties, clutch, earrings

09.16 : tall snowy trees
  Newer: blazer, jeans, sunnies
  Older: blouse, pumps, clutch, earrings

09.17 : drinking pheasant
  Newer: cardigan
Older: blouse, shorts, tights, boots, clutch, earrings, sunnies

09.18 : creamy mushrooms
  Newer: dress, tights
Older: cardigan, boots, clutch, earrings, sunnies

Thoughts:

  • I spent a little extra time with each outfit making sure that they jive with my style goals for the upcoming season, which are a little shifted from where I've been in the past, as opposed to simply putting together pieces that reflect each image. Very happy that I was able to be disciplined enough to do so, and very happy with how they all turned out.
  • The bulk of the items used were older pieces and I felt perfectly happy with these outfits. A little surprising as I've been really hankering to add some new trends to my wardrobe. I still plan to do this. However...
  • I normally go for "new" in bottoms but here it was a 50-50 split tophalf-bottomhalf, so I might need to spread any newness across more categories in my wardrobe. Not sure, will have to mull further on this.
  • It was fun experimenting with incorporating "More", which is one of my current style goals, and I now have some ideas about how I want to approach it going forward.
  • I like the idea of bringing a little more of my spring/summer boho side to my fall/winter style.

Thanks again to Diane for starting and organizing, and to everyone who participated and made it such fun ^^

Aida, in each of your outfits it was easy to see the inspiration but each also looks true to your style. I loved reading your thoughts.

You did a great job with the challenge, putting together terrific outfits for each of these photos. It's even more impressive given what you've said here about ensuring that each outfit is truly you. I love your outfit in 5, especially--that one seems the most boho, but still with your modern touch. The tights are such a nice reflection of the detail in the bird's feathers, too.

What a great round up Aida. I looked at several of these as the days went by, but have been so crazy busy didn't comment on much, nor did I have the energy to participate. Now I wish I had!

Just dying to make a crack here about wearing pumps in the snow :).

I like that you showed all of your outfits. They're all great but I like #5 the best.

I love the way you have put this together, the inspiration and the outfits together look wonderful.

My favourite actual outfits 1 2 and 3; I love those looks!  I am drawn to the contrast with your hair and the tailored crispness in these looks.  In saying that the texture mix in 4 and 5 is wonderful and I think shorts and tights is a super fun look, one I would like to emulate some how!

This is really fun to see all of your outfits together, and side-by-side with the inspiration images. It makes me wish I'd done that with my challenge outfits to begin with, because it really allows you to see the inspiration better than flipping back and forth.

With all five outfits together, I'm really loving the mushroom outfit most. It's oh-so-glam, especially as styled with the sunglasses and clutch.

THANKS for putting these all together for me.  I can enjoy them so much more this way.  It is hard for me to pick a favorite, but I am going to anyways.

Number 2 is my absolute favorite.  I love everything about it.  You slayed it.

Numbers 3 and 4 follow very closely.

Absolutely smashing!  Agree - this is the best representation of outfit to inspiration I've ever seen.  Can't pick a favorite - interestingly, I could have picked some favorites with just 5 outfits side by side, but when you put them next to the inspirations?  They all become over the top equally fabulous.

Aida, you never cease to amaze us.

I'm sorry I missed this challenge but thankful so many of you did it!  Your interpretations are amazing.

Thank you all so much for the lovely comments, ladies! I appreciate your feedback ^^ Note to self to do side-by-sides for the next challenge, too!

Sharan, that last outfit has all kinds of fun elements to it doesn't it -- a little boho, a little mod, a little French. If I ever manage to get my flares re-hemmed I would love to wear this cardigan with them!

Elizabeth, hah! I promise I wouldn't actually wear that outfit in the snow, just to represent it ;)

Sally, thank you! I do enjoy considering how my hair contrasts with any given outfit. I had been going more blendy over summer (strict with strict, soft with soft) but have been edging back to contrasting now that the weather is cooling down (and outfits are getting darker). I could see you rocking the shorts+tights+tall boots thing!

Thanks Aida, I could give shorts and tights a go, I am not sure I have quite the right pieces now, but it could be fun to try.

You could always tweak the proportions a bit to suite what you've got. Like longer shorts with mid-calf boots, or culottes with short boots. I also like wearing thicker hose when the weather is cooler (I have a few pairs of proper sweater tights that get loads of wear in winter). If you come up with something you like I hope you'll post :D
