WIW 06.09, 16, 17 (casual weekend outfits!)

Some casual weekend outfits from this past weekend and the one before. I have been enjoying wearing my jeans less during the week for creative-casual work outfits, but for my weekend life jeans just can't be beat. In particular the straight leg jeans in #1, which normally get passed over, have found new life in my weekend outfits. My loafers are also becoming a serious go-to weekend shoe with all the wet weather we've had.

  1. Saturday 06.09, worn to run errands and out to a pub for dinner with hubby and sister. My gingham tops have definitely found their way out of my work wardrobe and into purely casual weekend outfits. Normally I like to wear a contrasting or fun colored belt in outfits like this, but was in the mood to match so I went with yellow. Rugged boots to finish the look off. Love the emerald with the yellow and white!
  2. Saturday 06.16, worn to run errands. New lightweight coral jacket purchased earlier in the week; for this outfit I tied the belt in the back but I do plan to also wear it buttoned and belted. I am very happy to have a non-blazer casual jacket (I have SO few) in a cheerful color. Speaking of, the color is interesting: it's like a coral-salmon hybrid that's very saturated but is absolutely "soft" looking without being muted. I haven't seen anything like it this season!
  3. Sunday 06.17, worn to breakfast then Father's day dinner at my folks'. I wanted a menswear inspired look for the occasion, but didn't want to wear a plain button-up because my husband was doing that :) So instead I layered a semi-cropped sweater over my chambray shirt and donned loafers. The rest of the outfit is pretty feminine (skinnes, purse, necklace) so the menswear effect ended up being rather subtle.

I love that gingham on you! The new coral jacket is lovely also and it is so cute the way that shirt is peeking out from under your sweater in the last pic! Great outfits!

That gingham yellow shirt is just divine on you Aida - gorgeous colour. And I love the pairing of the blush handbag with the red jacket. Pink and red together is quickly becoming a favourite combo of mine.

Wow can't get enough of that yellow gingham top - fantastic. All great looks but I keep returning to the first one.

A lot to love here - gingham shirt, coral jacket, loafers! Whee! I dig how you pair your brights with softer colors (yellow + lightwash denim + brown, bright white + blue +blush). I would happily copy any of these if I had the correct pieces. I am looking forward to some boat shoes I have on the way, because I'm envisioning them working a lot like your loafers. :)

You are wearing flats more and more! Love it.

Great outfits as always, Aida! #1 is KILLER.

Thank you for the comments, ladies! I'm amused (and pleased of course) that #1 is getting so much love, as it was a last minute fallback outfit and didn't feel terribly creative; I almost changed out of it! Shows how our views get skewed sometimes :)

Shannon, I'm also enjoying pairing this blush bag with red. Now I need more red!

Rae, pairing brights with soft shades is definitely one of the primary ways I've incorporated "soft" dressing while still feeling like me (though I was doing it before, just not as purposefully). Opens up a whole new slew of palette options! Looking forward to seeing your boat shoes, I hope they work out! The loafers are making more appearances than I expected, so now I'm on the lookout for a good slipper flat too.

Angie, thank you! Most definitely wearing more flats and also lower heels. On the weekends I'm wearing flats almost exclusively these days. I'm even thinking of having some of my taller heels shortened! What is the world coming to? ;)

Love them all, especially 2....where is that jacket from? I adore it! I have jeans and a top like yours already and I would love a jacket like that!

  • Aida replied 11 years ago

Thanks Ceit! The jacket in #2 is from a Dress Barn outlet (I am a devotee of Angie's mantra of "leave no retail stone unturned"). On their website, this one here looks like it might be the same one but only available in mushroom: http://www.dressbarn.com/detai.....972887/298

I love that yellow top on you and love you in those loafers every time. Great looks!

All stunning! However your Father's Day outfit has me 'drooling'. The slight masculine styling with the feminine accents is just beautiful! Awesome styling.

  • Laura replied 11 years ago

You wear yellow so well! Jealous! I love that gingham shirt on you.

Thank you Shevia, Deborah, and Laura!

Deborah, as much as I love really masculine looks my husband quite strongly dislikes them on me. So I have been working hard at incorporating enough softness into these types of outfits. Glad you like how this one turned out, I'm really pleased with it!
