WIW 05.11-14 (including YLF meetup outfit)

End of last week's outfits, plus the weekend.

  1. Wed, worn to work. Had heels on initially but swapped them for flats to tone it down a bit; the knit dress over knit leggings was a bit too "rear highlighting".
  2. Thu, worn to work then to an out-of-town friend's to play with his ferrets. This look feels more fall than spring, but I'm not sure how to change that short of not wearing tights or swapping to a different top; sadly it's still not warm enough for just shorts. Not 100% sure about the sheer hose, or maybe it's the shoes, or maybe it needs some scrunched socks? Not sure. I do like the (new) skinny yellow belt with this.
  3. Fri, worn to work, out to dinner with my husband, then we went to ferret sit again; they're so cute! Trying a warmer neutral look.
  4. Sat, worn to the YLF meetup in Seattle. Decided to go uber 70s casual :) I need to get one of those little vest clips to make this one more fitted looking.

Nice stylings!!! #1 and #4 are my favorites. You gals must have been one stunning looking crew gathered together.

Fun outfits! Love the stripes and the vest!! And I love to see a well executed semi-tuck. Yours looks so natural...I haven't been able to make that work yet :)

I'm having the same dilemma with shorts/tights right now. I don't think your hose looks too wintery since it's very sheer, but I'll be paying attention to see if anyone has other ideas :)

I think I have liked all of the outfits I've seen you post and may have to start copying some of them. You have a very interesting way of putting together outfits and I really like it

  • Angie replied 13 years ago

All outfits are very fab! Love you in those baggy fades jeans :)

  • Aida replied 13 years ago

    Thanks ladies!

Rose - The group was certainly stunning, even more fab in person! It was fun to walk around in such a Stylish Mob :)

Sammi - Drapey fabrics are key to the natural semi-tuck! I usually tuck tightly then stretch my arms up and wiggle a little side-to-side to loosen just the right amount (and do minor adjustments as necessary) 0:)

Dianthus - Thanks very much, I look forward to seeing your interpretations!

Angie - Any particular thoughts on the shorts outfit (#2)? I feel like it's off but cannot place why (besides not looking springy) though I am also not 100% adjusted to this look yet. (Thanks on the jeans, I probably wouldn't have tried such a baggy pair if you hadn't commented about it on the blog!)

I'm certainly not Angie, but I love the shorts outfit. I think you look striking and those boots and hose work nicely with everything else. Since the hose are sheer it does seem springy for a Seattle spring, to me. The yellow belt and blue shirt are nice bright happy colors. I like ankle boots that hug the ankle and make a smooth transition like yours do.
All of your outfits are equally great. I really like your urban style.

All great outfits! I especially love your meetup outfit. So fab! Can't wait to hear all about the meetup.

You look great every day, but day 4 is my favorite. I love the wide legs on you. :)

  • Melissa replied 13 years ago

LOL. I initially misread "to an out-of-town friend's to play with his ferrets" as "to an out-of-town friend's play with his ferrets," and had a good giggle (were the ferrets in the play, did they accompany you to the play, etc).

My illiteracy aside, you look amazing as always. I know it's been said before, but your ability to pull off consistently killer put together casual looks is so inspiring.

Looks 1, 3, and 4 are perfect to my eye. re: springifying look #2, what about swapping out the sheer hose for some microfishnets? If those alone would be too cold, you could layer them over nude hose. I could also see that working with a nude or taupe belt if the fab yellow belt didn't agree in color with the stockings. Or, what about some otk socks?

Love them all, Aida! I think 1 and 4 are my faves. LOVE the tunic with leggings and that killer shrunken blazer. Very spring-y! Same goes for the wide legs with the waist coat and clogdals! Fresh silhouettes and so much fun!

I like the shorts outfit but haven't really wrapped my head around the hosiery thing. Sheer hose seem dressy to me and I'm not used to seeing them with shorts. I like the look with opaques though so I think I'm just going to have to wait for my eye to adjust. Grey skinnies with the nautical top is super fab too! Great week, Aida! I love your posts!

Wow-great outfits-I just love #1 and 4. Don't tell me I missed another Seattle YLF meetup! Darn! Oh well, you must have looked fab!

  • annagybe replied 13 years ago

Love #2 and #3. I might pilfer part of #2 for my fluoro yellow belt.

  • Kappy replied 13 years ago

They all look great, but my personal favorite is #1. Crazy about those stripes!

  • Angie replied 13 years ago

I like #2. Perhaps scrunching the sleeves would have balanced out proportions. The outfit is a little top heavy - but it still works!

  • celia replied 13 years ago

    I like them all.

  • Heather replied 13 years ago

Aida, I am loving all of these pics of you with SUN and SUNGLASSES. Woohoo. Cheering for real.

I like all of these outfits very, very much. How fun you went to play with ferrets. Did they snag your hosiery?

You may send me that vest when you're ready. ;D I LOVE it! You look so great, Aida.

  • Lynne replied 13 years ago

These are lovely! Have we seen the cropped jacket before, Aida? I love it! FWIW, I like the vest as is - it looks cool and springy with the lighter colours...

  • marianna replied 13 years ago

    Fab! I love them all.

  • Nadya replied 13 years ago

Great outfits, all'. You totally rock the half tuck in #3.

  • Aida replied 13 years ago

Thank you for all the wonderful comments everyone! :D

Melissa - I didn't think of layering nude hose under the microfishnets, that's a great idea! I haven't tried OTK socks, not sure I have the guts for those :} (I can picture the ferret play now, a 2-critter show with dramatic lighting and cheerful music....)

Kelly - The shorts are a dressier fabrication and have a sheen to them, so I think the sheer hose matches more in person. The top doesn't quite go though; if I had a silky button-up I'd have worn that instead. (It's on my list!)

Anna - Ooh I hope you'll post it!

    Angie - Noted, thank you!

Heather - The ferrets were good and didn't snag my hosiery! They did try to crawl into the backs of my shirts since they were only semi-tucked though :)

Lynne - The blazer is newish, I've had it a couple weeks and worn a couple times. I'm positive it's going to be a staple for me! The vest is a bit wide around the waist and would look better a bit more fitted I think.

  • chouette22 replied 13 years ago

Love all the outfits (I always type this same sentence with you!!) but if I have to pick favorites, they would be 1 and 3. That blazer in 1 is SO perfect for you, what an amazing find!

  • RandomThoughts (Andrea) replied 13 years ago

    Always so fab, Ms.Aida! :)

  • Ornella replied 13 years ago

There's only one for me, and that's number one thankyouverymuch.

  • Lisa replied 13 years ago

Great outfits here, I like the idea to add fishnet hose to the shorts outfit.

  • Aida replied 13 years ago

Thank you for the comments Chouette, Andrea, Ornela, and Lisa :)

  • catgirl replied 13 years ago

Aida, I am swooning! Every one of these is special in some amazing way. I am especially impressed with #2, but all of them are totally fun and have those little tweaks that you were aiming for - just awesome!

  • Aida replied 13 years ago

Aw thanks Una! Your compliment makes my detail-oriented brain very happy :D

  • Mo replied 13 years ago

I'm loving the dress in #1 and pretty much all the accessories! The multi buckle belt and the shoes in #4 especially have me in serious envy over here! :)

  • Aida replied 13 years ago

Thanks Mo! Both the belt and buckle are available at Target *wink wink!*
