Mother's day and early part of the week outfits. Quite pleased with all three of these :D

  1. Sunday: worn for mother's day. Had my in-laws over for brunch and XBox Kinect funnery then went over to my folks' for tea, snacks, and cake (also my mom's birthday). Not sure these heels are quite tall enough for these long shorts.
  2. Monday: worn to work then out for tacos. Tried my vintage midi skirt with a tucked top (at Angie's request) and rockabilly styling (including the new buckly belt) to toughen up some of the sweetness. Better tucked? I rarely wear this silhouette, though I know I probably should *ducks*
  3. Tuesday: worn to work then to the monthly gathering of Seattle type folk. Inspired by Chouette's look #5 as seen here. New necklace. ETA: This was my runner-up Seattle meet-up outfit but I decided I'll wear something more casual (even though I'm sure most of you lovelies will be dressy) :)

    Love #2!

  • julijuli replied 12 years ago

I absolutely adore you in #2. The skirt is perfect on you!!!

  • cheryle (Dianthus) replied 12 years ago

Totally love 2. That belt is great and the blue is a great color for you. The skirt looks very on trend and suits your shape. All around great outfit.

I like number 3 a lot too. The skinny pant and simple shirt are very good together.

I'm not loving the pants in 1. They don't show off your great shape like the other two outfits.

  • Ornella replied 12 years ago

2!!! Utter fabulosity. That shirt with that skirt. That belt. The hair. And of course, The Skirt itself.
(I completely forgot to look at no.3 after this.)

A tune came to my mind:
    Heaven
    I'm in heaven
    ...

    More of this, please.

Aida, your style journey just went into warp!!! OMG. Outfit 2 is incredible. I would wear that in a second....maybe I will now that I copied your buckley belt! ;D

    ETA: YOUR HAIR IN #2.....*SWOON*

  • Jonesy replied 12 years ago

Outfit 2 is really the stand-out, hands-down, bonafide winner of this bunch! This is such a great silhouette for you, and the rockabilly touches are so saucy and fab.

  • sarah replied 12 years ago

Angie does it again, doesn't she! I absolutely love #2! The others are sweet, too, but #2 is outstanding.

  • Aida replied 12 years ago

Thank you ladies! I did have a hunch #2 would be quite popular :} #3 was my runner-up Seattle meet-up outfit but I decided I'll wear something more casual (even though I'm sure most of you lovelies will be dressy).

Heather - I think I was subconsciously channeling you with #2 :D I look forward to seeing your version with the buckly belt and your killer legs (and the accompanying fun title)! And yesss, hooray another fan of the poof!! No one around me except my dad, of all people, and one friend likes it so I don't do it too often; my mom says I look like Elvis and is perpetually distracted when I try to talk to her, and my sis/husband/other friends poke their fingers into it constantly and marvel at how I "made it do that" ^^

Jonesy - Saucy, well now that's fun! That is a new adjective for me. Hmm how to get more sauce into my outfits now.....

  • Heather replied 12 years ago

Awww, I am blushing, Aida! I totally rock that pouf sometimes, too. Listen to your dad and keep on rockin' it! I totally laughed out loud about your mother's comment: Aida, not in a million years, could you fashion yourself to remotely look like Elvis. HAHAHAHA. Hilarious, but not a possibility, Gorgeous Girl.

  • tarzy replied 12 years ago

Wow. #2 is so fab! One of the best you've ever posted! It's a perfect combo of funky yet stylish. Well done!

  • Aida replied 12 years ago

Heather you are sweet ^^ I should probably clarify in light of the backhanded comment threads that my mom LOVES Elvis; she just finds this hairstyle too masculine and distracting and in no way means this comment meanly ;) She also has a great Elvis impression which I get to see every time I sport this 'do, hehe! *curls one side of lip up in Elvis fashion* I made a deal with my husband that I'd wear the poof except for on date nights (Fridays) but still haven't been wearing much. I'll start to do it more!

    Thank you, Tarzy!

Wow I love outfit #2 the skirt looks great and the belt is fabulous. I like outfit #3 also the pants fit good and I like the necklace.

  • Laura replied 12 years ago

#2 is my favorite outfit you've posted!!! ever!!

  • modgrl replied 12 years ago

Awesome vintage midi! What a great look for you. I love it with the multibelt and check shirt. Great week!

  • Sveta replied 12 years ago

Nothing new here but #2 is my fave!

  • cheryl replied 12 years ago

Aida! You rock every outfit you put on. #2 is amazingly fabulous and i am crazy about that belt.

  • Heather replied 12 years ago

Aida, I definitely did not think the "Elvis" comment was backhanded. I found it to be a comical comment, one that my mother would most likely crack, too. ;D Playful jokes and backhanded comments totally different.

Hilarious to know you made a deal not to wear the pouf on date night. Aida, you are just too cool.

  • kellygirl replied 12 years ago

Wow! Love them all but especially 1 and 2! The stripey top is adorable with the capris and heels. Simple and playful. Love that. #2 is just outta this world fab. Dramatic and fun. Wow! What a difference tucking makes--especially when you have a killer belt like that!

  • rae replied 12 years ago

Yep, 2 is my favorite as well -- and I liked the shirt untucked before. :) Awesome buckle belt!

  • Angie replied 12 years ago

#2 KILLER. Glad the suggestion worked :)

  • Lynne replied 12 years ago

Love number 2, Aida - fab, fab, fab!

There is something about the proportions of the first that is not working, to my eye - I am not sure if it's the length of the pants, or the straight silhouette of the top...

  • Polly (thunalata) replied 12 years ago

    Yes, 2 is utterly fabulous.

  • Laura (rhubarbgirl) replied 12 years ago

I love 1 and 2 too - great shoes in 1 but something else might work with the outfit better. I love the looser top with the trousers to the knee, it's really flattering on you as a change (er, I mean it's a change of silhouette, not that flattering outfits are a change for you...) There's something about 3 that doesn't quite work for me - it's fine, but it seems dull somehow compared to your usual interesting-ness.

Any chance that the shoes from either 1 or 3 are recent purchases? I covet them both.

  • Lisa replied 12 years ago

#2 is the standout, you must wear this silhouette more often.

  • Ornella replied 12 years ago

I keep coming back to this thread and staring at that skirt and belt in no.2. Or is it individual belts you cleverly arranged together maybe?? I wouldn't be surprised you came up with something like that. Anyway, fab accessory.

I'm still not sure what it is that's so magical about the whole outfit: unassuming pieces put together so perfectly making each of them look so awesome when part of the whole, or my own amazement at how wonderfully your style is progressing in the desired direction, with this outfit being perfect example of it.

    You're really inspiring Aida!

  • Aida replied 12 years ago

Thank you ALL for the lovely comments, I will try to get myself to wear more outfits like #2 :D

Lynne - The stripey top in #1 is actually more fitted than comes across in the photos. I think overall proportions look off because I usually aim to shorten my torso a bit (like in #2 and #3) and this outfit makes my top and bottom more even in length; this is closer to my real proportions, but I don't usually style myself that way :)

Laura - The kitten heels in #1 are from last fall, and I couldn't find them online anywhere. The gray heels in #3 are recent though, from Target (these here). They are lightly cushioned and quite comfortable for their height. I highly recommend them if you can wear heels this tall, and like round toe shoes (I usually don't, but I do like this particular pair).

Ornela - The belt is just one with several mini-belts built in :) I was actually pretty surprised how well #2 came together myself! I think it is a good example of having the perfect pieces for the look, as well as for trying on combinations you think may not work: I almost didn't wear this shirt because I thought it wouldn't "go" but after I tried it on it was clear that it did. Same with the shoes, which worked once I'd selected this belt. And same with the hair, which I always do 2nd to last, and I would've worn a normal ponytail if I hadn't already picked the belt and shoes. Now that I write all that, it may also be tribute to the order in which I get dressed ;)

#2 is just amazing! Love that skirt on you. And I also love the simplicity of #3, it is so polished yet casual - gorgeous!

  • Aida replied 12 years ago

    Thanks Amy!
(Welcome back! Hope you had a blast on your bachelorette party vacation!)

  • Aunty replied 12 years ago

    Fabulous outfits!
2 is super gorgeous, could you try the shoes from 2 with the outfit in 1??

  • MsMary replied 12 years ago

    How did I miss this?

I think I must have clicked on it at the time and then fainted dead away from teh fabness and then had amnesia when I woke up...

  • Aida replied 12 years ago

Aunty - Thanks! Yes I certainly could pair those shoes in #2 with the shorts in #1, will try that next time!

Mary - *giggle* Thank you Mary, I love the pictures you paint with your words ^^
