WIW 04.08 (Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark)

Movie poster: Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark (group thread).

The top thing that strikes me about this poster is how rich it is: color, texture, character, story.

Every item I'm wearing has a unique texture to the outfit. In addition to representing the rich textures, the items themselves were also each chosen to reflect various aspects of the poster art, along with reflecting the warm color palette.

  • Ivory sequin tank - texture (sequins), Indy's white shirt, treasures
  • Rust moto jacket - texture (twill, sweater knit, smooth leather), warm background color
  • Almond slouchy trousers - texture (silky woven), a nod to the soft vibe of the painting
  • Snakeskin heels - texture (snakeskin), and well of course it had to be snakes
  • Gold arabesque cutout earrings - texture (filigree), treasures
  • Bronze bucket bag, worn crossbody style - texture (cracked leather, chain), Indiana's bag, treasures

I painted my nails crushed gold as another nod to the treasures, and chose rust-orange lipstick to match my jacket. I feel like a very glamorous adventurer ;)

    Thanks Una and Ceit!

Una, guess what? I'm planning to do a different manicure for each day, with nail art, no less! I think I'm going to need cheering on, a bit worried that's too ambitious a plan ><

Ceit, I think this poster is almost like cheating for you ;) You can always do the outfit at the end of the week, I'd love to see your take!

Ok it is one thing to have an well thought out reason for all the elements, but it is quite another for the outfit to also be absolutely stunning regardless of the reasons. I believe this is truly fashion as art Aida!

Love this!  It stands as a fab outfit on it's own, but does such a beautiful job of relating to the art.

Fantastic interpretation, Aida! Such a sophisticated safari-esque outfit. The rust moto reads for coral/red to me and is just beautful. LOVE.

Fab interpretation, really sophisticated take on Indiana Jones.

And absolutely laughing at "it had to be snakes" -- awesome.

Oh that is one very glamorous adventurer! Love the slouchy trousers and golden nails. What nail polish is this, Aida?
Also, I think in Angie's words this would be so 2013. unstructured structure.

Thanks for the comments, everyone! :D

Shevia, I need a blush button, thank you!!

Mona, the polish is Sally Hansen "Golden-I". I am not totally sure if SH polish is sold in Canada, but it's available at drugstores in the US and quite inexpensive. I did a base coat, 2 coats of the gold, and finished with a coat of Seche Vite (my most favorite top coat).
