This week I happened to have planned out my work outfits over the weekend, which I rarely ever do. The week turned out quite hectic, stressful, and energy sucking so I was very, very relieved to have all of my outfits already sorted each morning! And that they had plenty of white, which makes me happy. I only had to modify one from the original plan (#4). Next week is going to be the same, and I am quite happy that we have the movie poster challenge so that I can plan everything in advance again. After that, though, I'm back to my usual mood dressing each morning ^^ Feel free to skip down to the photos!
#1 Monday. Warm enough to pull out my transitional slouchy shorts, which I decided to style with a full-on print mix using a new blouse (top-vertical stripes, shorts-herringbone pinstripe, tights-chevron) and a light-to-dark vertical gradient. Accessorized with white (watch, new cuff from Etsy which Sona linked a while back (thanks Sona!), clutch), and soft red lipstick.
#2 Tuesday. I've been itching to pull out these slouchy wide leg summer trousers! I wear these a LOT longer than most people would, with the hems actually pooling and dragging on the ground, which I know isn't for everyone but is a look I enjoy. Paired with a new bright orange (my most favorite orange shade) summer sweater with matching bright orange lipstick, gold earrings, and of course more whites (blazer, booties, clutch).
#3 Wednesday. Probably the last look I'll do with these tall black boots for the season, so I just had to go with my current favorite formula for them: short jacket + belt + white skinnies; this belt is actually almost as white as the jeans, not sure why they show as cream here and in #5. Worn with long thin gold earrings that mimic the zippers, rarely worn pink lipstick to add a little extra dose of "pretty" to the look, and my current spring crush, the white slouchy clutch. Trying out a new photo spot for days when my back patio is too sunny; didn't get it right this day, but I've got it figured out now.
#4 Thursday. A copycat outfit of one Kelly recently posted, with the same dress even! Initially I had peep-toe booties and no hat planned, but 1) it was raining, and 2) I ran out of conditioner ;) Worn with textured nude tights, my lightest colored slouchy knit hat, and plum lipstick to pick up on the dress's purples.
#5 Friday. Today we are having some serious wind! I've had this outfit in mind for a while, but hadn't yet gotten around to wearing it. Between the very oversized shirt and slouchy skinnies, I feel like the poster child for the 2013 oversized/slouchy trends! But of course, this was always part of my style so it also feels very me (especially with the plaid and white). Accessorized with neon necklace because sometimes we just feel like neon (or is that just me?), a new set of 4 cream/gold triangle stud earrings, soft red lipstick, and the ubiquitous white clutch.
#6 Bonus photo of the flower clusters that I was being heavily bombarded with while taking my outfit photos today. This is what I am making a scowling face at in the outfit photo, though they do match my necklace quite nicely ^^

Neelie replied 11 years agoGreat outfits! I love your jacket in #3! Where is it from?
-
pil replied 11 years ago2 and 4 are standouts for me, Aida. I love that orange sweater, the soft pants and the shades of white in 2 and that hat in 4 is jaunty fun!
-
Tanya replied 11 years agoYou can do no wrong Aida! Love everything, but am head-over-heels for #1 and #3.

Caro in Oz replied 11 years agoYLF. I particularly like the pants suit - you look very stylish yet still relaxed.
-
Suz replied 11 years agoEvery single one of these has the "unstructured structure" that Angie has been talking about. SO 2013!! I love the shorts outfit, so relaxed and subtly textured. And wow, that white clutch is fantastic. What a useful item.
The dress look reminds me somehow of the 30s....and the 90s....not sure why. I have a pair of textured nude tights like that, too! -
merwoman replied 11 years agoSuch a pleasure viewing your outfits Aida!
In particular, I love the monochrome look of #1, and the playfulness of #5. And looks like those flowers just wanted in on the photo shoot - perfect accessory! -
Transcona Shannon replied 11 years agoLOVE LOVE LOVE #2!!!
And I'm drooling over seeing green and plant life - we're still under snow. -
rae replied 11 years agoAh, it is starting to feel like spring! Seriously loving all the white here. The top-down outfit gradient is clever - relieves the need to balance/bookend all the colors, yet it still looks intentional and put-together. You should be the poster child for the slouchy trend - I bet those posters would sell the look to everyone!

Stunning week, Aida! I cannot even select a favorite. Actually I am going to pin quite a few now :-)

Ingunn replied 11 years agoI love #1! You have a wonderful tomboy-ish flair in that one which is so fab. I also adore the white and orange in #2, really cool. I wouldn't have worn my pants that long, but it looks great on your long legs. #3 is fantastic. I love it as it is, but I'm sure you'll find other more summery shoes for this, too. Great clutch! #4 is very cute, and I love the hat! Interesting texture on the hose. #5 This is very you, and very trendy. LOVE the neon here! I can't wait to find flower clusters here, too, our ground is more or less covered with heavy, stone-frozen snow. A great week of outfits, Aida. Now I need to start planning my own for next week. Have we got the final selection of posters yet?

Kiwichik replied 11 years agoOMG getting the new magazine feeling twice in one day - be still my beting heart . Fab outfits in love with #1.

goldenpig replied 11 years agoThese are all so fab, Aida. You look like a fashion model in all of them and I love the creativity of all of these. And #3 is to die for!
-
Karie replied 11 years agoI really like the wide leg slouchy trousers, and I agree with you on the length - I like mine extra long - it gives them that '60's long bell-bottom vibe, I think. Where did you get the jacket in #3? I like the fabric print and the sleeves.
-
replied 11 years agoGosh I don't know where to start! I love how you wear shorts so well as in #1. 2 i adore your wide trousers and the bright sweater, 3 showcases that fab jacket, love it!, 4 has a hint of playfulness and retro and 5 is easy and relaxed. Thanks for brightening my day :)

Day Vies replied 11 years ago2&3 are my favorites! I am so jealous that you can wear shorts even with hoes -- it's just too cold here.

Angie replied 11 years ago*waving at my clutch and shirt twin*
Is it possible that your style is even more killer than last year? It is!!! Because you're wacking it out of the ball park, Aida! With like an A+++++.
I can't choose a favourite outfit. Sometimes minimal. Sometimes maximal. Always a little '70s but just as Modern. You have KILLER style. End of story. It is an absolute pleasure looking at your outfits and fun poses :) -
kellygirl replied 11 years agoGosh, what a treat! I am thrilled to see your vest and dress in 4. I love the moto and the knit cap--such fun additions! You have such an amazing sense of style, Aida! Every one of these is so cool in its own way. My faves aside for 4 are 2 and 5. I love the colors and silhouette of 2 and I die over the addition of the neon necklace in 5. Both brilliant. I would gush some more if I wasn't on my phone. Love your outfits and so excited to see you wear the twin dress!

Jaime replied 11 years agoWow. Just wow. There is not one outfit I don't love, and not one that doesn't show some sort of just right way of doing something. #2 is an example that could be described simply: trousers, sweater, blazer but the sum is so much greater than the parts. Or perhaps each part is so exactly right in the details. Also love the jacket in #3, the dress with the vest, the perfect fit white jeans, the slouch shorts. Ok then, not just wow and not just right, add just gorgeous!

Sarah A replied 11 years agoI am just in awe once again of your stupendous looks. A brilliantly brilliant week! I thought I was so not a plaid gal but #5! Plaid and neon and white. Oh my! #2, 3 are also favorites. I am going to have to do some pinning... thanks for sharing your inspirational looks once again.
-
amiable replied 11 years agoOf course they're all fabulous, but I especially love the orange in #2, and the gold with black in #3!
-
Debora replied 11 years agoStellar week, Aida! Your outfits are always such a treat. I honestly can not pick a favorite. Thank you so much for sharing!
-
Marley replied 11 years agoOh wow! I've got a big grin on my face after looking at your week of outfits. Numbers 1 and 5 have me "plotting" how someone my age can copy those looks. :-) Also, what is the cropped jacket in #3, the vest in #4, and the shoes in #2? I love those items! I'm with you on the length of the trousers - especially light colored ones - they just gotta' drag a little bit! Thanks for sharing Aida - so great to see you!
-
Deborah replied 11 years agoAnother inspiring post. Oh to be able to wear shorts like you do :)
Aida remind me how tall you are please. I did a version of #2 some weeks back in black and white with flat bootie, i liked it but felt 'squat'. Are you wearing a heel? It's a silhouette I would like to make work, particularly with the flat booties.
Im quite fond of your look in #4, it's a little quirky and you carry it off very well. -
CocoLion replied 11 years agoThis was a really good week. I too like the pooling hems look, as long as you're ok with what they do to the bottoms of light pants.
I love your neon necklace, I think I remember it from last season. It is so fab because it's not too much and not too little.
Your shirt in #1 is very fab, perfect fit and drape. -
Kari replied 11 years agoFirst of all, may I say that you look absolutely darling in the beret?
I'm in love with your jacket from #3. Fit, texture... oh, it's all perfect. I can see this being a very versatile piece for you. -
Lisa replied 11 years agoYou really rock those lighter colors but my favorite is that red sweater in #2. That's a superb color on you.
-
Aida replied 11 years agoOh my, thank you all for the lovely comments!! You ladies sure know how to start a gal's week off right ^^ Some global requested item info:
- The tweed/leather jacket in #3 is by Helene Berman, bought at Nordstrom this past December (2012).
- The cream faux-leather vest in #4 is a recent purchase from H&M, it might be still available.
- The cream leather booties in #2/5 are Ciao Bella “Glorious”, bought at Sears several years ago. Sears seems to restock them from time to time, and they come in various neutral shades.
Ingunn, Kelly, and Shevia thank you for the extra detailed comments, I really appreciate your insights!
Kiwichik, your magazine comment here and on my other thread makes me smile like mad :)
Angie, well that might be my best grade ever! I am blushing over here, thanks so much ^^ Last year I feel like I was still sorting and settling into my spring/summer style preferences, especially with the experimentation of adding "softness". This year I'm going into the season feeling pretty good! Although, I still need less jeans and more trousers. And slouchy long shorts!
Deborah, I'm 5'3" (close to your height I think?). I am wearing 2.5-3" heels in #2 (can't recall the exact height), and will note these pants always get worn with heels. There are a lot of things going on to avoid squatness in this look: the lower contrast shoe coupled with the long pointed toe helps mitigate the width/volume, and I am also shortening my torso by wearing a semi-cropped jacket which gives additional optical leg length to further elongate the look. For flat booties I think the key trick will be to go low contrast, either at the shoe/hem or by wearing a column of color. -
catgirl replied 11 years agoAida, the tweed jacket might be one of my favorite of your wardrobe items! And I love the neon necklace which I saw in person. :) You are just a rock star. Like Angie, can't decide what I like best although your shorts outfits always steal my rebel heart.
-
Aida replied 11 years agoThank you, Una! I thought you'd like the tweed moto :) It's a fun piece, though it's a bit oversized so I'm still kind of struggling with it.
