WIW 03.26-29

Weekend and early part of the week outfits. I'm reaching for my tees less (hooray?) but I don't have enough non-tees to wear in their place; will replace as budget allows.

  1. Worn for a friend's 30th birthday. Had a fun time, and ended up walking a good couple miles in total. Doesn't show in the photo but I only tucked the front half of the shirt. New bag.
  2. Worn out for lunch and errands with my husband.
  3. Worn to work then out for tacos. Liking these wide legs even more, can't wait for more dry days! I got these clog sandals at Target just to try (wore clogs a lot in the 90s); I think these are better for me versus the more "traditional" style. We'll see; at least they're cheap.
  4. Worn to work. New semi-slouchy skinnies. Felt like dressing cheerfully since I'm feeling meh today. Seems to be helping :)

Comments, critiques, thoughts and questions welcome.

Aida, you have such a wonderful style! I especially love the first outfit and must copy the black and turquoise with cream accessories. Love!
I can't wear them but I really like your footwear in both #2 and #3. It makes the outfit in each case.

  • MsMary replied 13 years ago

Love them all, especially the white accessories in #1 and EVERYTHING about #3! Lookit those lacy anklets!! Also love the bag in #4. And, uh, everything about #2.

Oh, and your HAIR in #1!! LOVE!!!

You are my style soul mate for realsies!

I love the first outfit - it is very eyecatching. All of these are fab, Aida - you are really following through here. How long have you been planning this little coup de fashion?

  • Anh replied 13 years ago

Great outfits! Wide leg pants look good on you.

  • Isis replied 13 years ago

Wow, #1 is amazing! I'm filing that look away to copy, although I don't have any of the elements.....

It's such an unexpected way to fab-up the sleekness and sophistication of an urban black palette. I love it!

I'm impressed that you could walk for a couple miles in those heels!

  • Aida replied 13 years ago

Thanks ladies! Glad #1 is going over well, I felt super great in it.

Joy, Isis - I do hope you'll post your black+turquoise+cream looks, I love this color palette :D

Mary - Oh Mary, you really cheered me right up! Thank you <3 I've been eying some colorful skirts thanks to seeing your fun bright colors, hopefully I can find a couple great ones.

Una - Such a long time! Between all the great YLF support, Angie's gentle prodding, and seeing all of your gutsy-to-me fashion experiments (yes you!) I decided to just suck it up and quit being such a wuss, and to stop doubting myself; does my husband like it (he doesn't like most of it anyway, may as well just wear what I want instead of a middle ground that we both don't like, right?); is it too fashion forward/trendy (what?); am I comfortable allowing attention to my shape (nothing wrong with it); will I feel like an impostor in these types of outfits (so far, nope!). Even though it means I need to turn my wardrobe over AGAIN, I'm happy to have these doubts mostly out of my head; I'm not 100% there but I'm a lot closer.

Woop, woop socks + heels!!!!! :)

I love them all. I even looked through a 2nd time to try to pick a favorite but i think i love them all equally!

  • qfbrenda replied 13 years ago

I like all of them, though #3 is a favorite! And I'm also filing #1 away to attempt to duplicate. I don't have a turquoise sweater, but I could use a purple one.... hmmm...

  • chewyspaghetti replied 13 years ago

I really like #1- the white pops and nude shoes make it feel springy, so the black become more like a color and less like a neutral (if that makes any sense).

  • rae replied 13 years ago

I love your new bag and your gingham shirt! I am looking forward to more dry days, too, so we can see your evolving Spring style!

  • chouette22 replied 13 years ago

How much fun it is to see your style evolving. Since I have been on YFL, I don't think I saw too many woven tops on you and then three in four days alone! Talk about following through with your style intentions. Great looks all around!

  • kellygirl replied 13 years ago

OMG! 1 and 3 just rock my world. Love the white belt with the black and turquoise. That outfit packs tons of punch and I absolutely love it. #3 is fab too--love the belted gingham with the wide legs. So fab! You are on a roll, Aida. Can't wait to see more!

  • Dani replied 13 years ago

Aida, it has been fun watching you follow up on your thoughts and new direction each week. I love your gusto! My favorite is #4 but it's probably the happy colors that did it for me. #1 is a close second, and there's not much of a gap between them all. Thanks so much for sharing your journey with us!

  • Angie replied 13 years ago

It's all coming together, Aida! You win the next YLF award!!!

  • Aida replied 13 years ago

Thanks for the thoughtful comments everyone! I appreciate the feedback.

Brenda - I think you could definitely do something similar to #1 with purple instead of turquoise. As long as it's a bright purple, not a subdued/muted one, you're set!

Khris - It does make sense! I like that approach to black, I'll definitely keep it in mind from now on.

Angie - Woo! Thanks :) I keep wanting to reach for blouses instead of tees, but I'm not quite sure what they should be; I'm completely blouse illiterate. More experimentation (and probably shopping) necessary!

  • Lavinia replied 13 years ago

Aida, I really like your style and congrats for your style evolution :)
I'm particularly fond of the belted gingham shirt - way to go!

You seem so tall in all your photos I couldn't believe it when you said you're a petite (approx. the same height as me if I recall correctly). Talk about height perception, huh :-)

  • Aunty replied 13 years ago

Lovely all of them, but 1 stole my heart :)

  • teri replied 13 years ago

    #3 is my absolute FAVORITE!!!!!!!!!

  • Lynne replied 13 years ago

Aida, these are great, and the first and third outfits are beyond fab!

In the first, the aqua and white against the black is gorgeous, and kudos for walking in those shoes! I'm going to try to copy this look with lighter colours :). In the third, your legs look, like, 1 mile long! These really suit you!

Thanks for posting, and good thoughts re dressing to please yourself - I think you have to do that while you're evolving your new style. DH will come around :).

  • Kappy replied 13 years ago

More great looks from fab you, but #1 is MY favorite!

  • Janet replied 13 years ago

I am so copying #1! You look awesome as always!

  • Ornella replied 13 years ago

I'm doing cartwheels over no.1 Doesn't get any more fab than this!

ETA: Actually, 4 is equally fab.
Next in line is 3. Then 2. I love them all!

  • Polly (thunalata) replied 13 years ago

    Love #3 best!

  • Lisa replied 13 years ago

Great set of outfits. Love #1, your legs look so long and slim here! And I really like the lighter belt paired with the shoes. I have a similar color cardigan, I may have to copy this look, but I'll have to figure out a belt idea. #2, another great look. #3, another outfit I want to copy. I recently picked up some flare jeans and a gingham shirt, thanks for the outfit idea! #4, such soft pretty colors here, just lovely.

  • Heather replied 13 years ago

Oh, Aida! Outfit 3--wow! Way to push forward with your new look. Thumbs up!!!!

  • amyreh replied 13 years ago

I think #2 may have just inspired my weekend outfit! I just picked up a blue and white checked shirt : ) Thanks!

  • thimblelina replied 13 years ago

I love how you style your new clogs! L

  • Aida replied 13 years ago

Thank you all for the wonderful comments! #1 and 3 seem to be the resounding favorites. I demand to see photos of all the black+white+aqua and gingham outfits you lovely ladies come up with :D

Lavinia - I nearly always try to dress in a way that's leg lengthening; I've no problem being shorter, but I don't want to LOOK short :)

Lynne - I think subbing in gray for the black in #1 would work well for you, and I already know the aqua will look great! I think #3 shows that petites can certainly wear dramatic wide leg pants when mindful of the top proportions; even I was surprised at how long my legs looked! Re dressing to please myself, that is my biggest hurdle which I'm still working through but am much closer; and my husband is just happy that I'm happy.

  • Debora replied 13 years ago

Love every one of them! You really rock that trench coat and wide-leg jeans in #3! Great week!

  • Jonesy replied 13 years ago

Fab outfits! Yep, my faves are 1 and 3. Is that cropped blue cardigan in 1 from Target? I have a few of those in different colors--they are great!

  • Kari replied 13 years ago

You are absolutely rocking those wide-leg jeans! I love #3 and #1 best of all.

  • Aida replied 13 years ago

    Thanks Debora, Jonesy and Kari!

Jonesy, the aqua cardigan is indeed from Target, good eye :) I picked it up last year and I'm hoping they release more in bright colors this year.

  • Nadya replied 13 years ago

Great outfits. I loved #1 from just the thumbnail: the white accessories are fab. And those platform shoes are awesome awesome. Thanks for sharing.
