My NAS items (pt1)

I did the preselection at the flagship store in downtown Seattle on Wednesday, and had a very strict shopping list of true wardrobe needs.

I spent most of the time (and budget) getting a long overdue bra fitting done, which was my main priority. It took us about 4 hours (and I feel like I tried everything they had in my size, not nearly as many options as non specialty sizes at least I guess ;)), and we managed to find five (!) bras that fit well, two Simon Perle and three Chantelle Of course, none part of the anniversary sale, but it's worth it to finally have correctly fitting bras. During that time my SA also helped me find some undies and camisoles, happily those were part of the sale.

After that we went to each "tent". The main clothing item I needed was a pair of high-waisted black skinny jeans; my SA brought me just about every pair of black skinny jeans at the store, both sale and otherwise, and unfortunately none were quite what I was looking for so that was a bust. I did find a pair of white trousers that fit beautifully though! Again, non NAS.

As for actual NAS items, I ended up with four pieces: A knit boucle jacket that has a wonderful tailored fit, mossy green striped sweater (which is actually a gorgeous shade of green, much more warm and green than the photo shows), cream fair isle cashmere sweater, and some fun geometric textured nude tights.

I was so tickled that I managed to stick to my list of needs at the store, even if I didn't find everything I needed.... but of course then when I got home I ordered a bunch of other stuff -_- I fully anticipate sending it all back, only one or two of those items are actual needs and I really do need to stick to that. Will post an update when the huge pile of boxes arrives ;) Until then I am SUPER HAPPY with what I bought at the store!

Will post separately about some things I tried but didn't buy.

(Blast, put this in the wrong category! Greg if you're around could you move it to NAS pretty please?)

  • Elizabeth P replied 8 years ago

Good for you Aida!  These items look very you, I must say.  Will we see them on you ?  Or is it too hot?  Looking forward to seeing what else caught your eye as well.

NIce shopping. LOVE the fair isle. Drool. Will you wear it with the white vC pants?

  • Laura (rhubarbgirl) replied 8 years ago

You've chosen some nice pieces and congrats on the bras, even if they weren't on sale. We will be boucle jacket twins, assuming I keep mine. I can see the wide collar working really well for you.

Congrats on sticking to your list! I wasn't quite as successful at that, but I ordered online too and that's what returns are for, right?

I love the fair isle sweater and can totally see it working with your wardrobe. Can't wait to see everything styled.

Congratulations! Nicely done, Aida. Too bad everything wasn't part of the sale, but I've done that in the past, too, and it's great to get things you really want.

  • catgirl replied 8 years ago

Ooh, fun picks - I am inspired by the way you hold out for exactly what you want also!

  • ElleH replied 8 years ago

Nice picks. I usually end up with non sale items too. This time it was a bra.

  • Melaine replied 8 years ago

oh my word, I ADORE that jacket and now want it desperately. Can't wait to see pics of it on you!

  • Jenny H replied 8 years ago

    Nice pics!

I also got the jacket but I got the lighter color because I liked the lower contrast sleeves. Would love to see photos of the items on you. I hope you enjoy the bras. A good fitting bra makes a big difference. I love my Chantelles.

Congratulations on your purchases and sticking to you list.  Wow.

I am thrilled that you found bras/panties that work for you.  It takes time and patience, doesn't it?  The correct fit makes all the difference in the line of the clothing and comfort.  Perhaps one of the most important layers.

    I love those pants.

I love everything you got! And your description of your visit makes me wish I had done something like this. Maybe next year I will get the card, plan, book an SA appointment ..... you make it seem like it is really worth the effort. Beautiful choices, Aida.

Wonderful picks, and fantastic on the proper bra fitting, even though it was a lot of work.

  • Joy replied 8 years ago

Your styling always has an element of fun. I'm looking forward to seeing these in outfits.
The stockings are an interesting variation of nude micro-fishnets. Your new bras must be beautiful in those brands.

  • shedev replied 8 years ago

Wow, great choices. Way to stick to your needs.

  • Janet replied 8 years ago

Very nice picks, and good job on staying on task! Bra shopping is exhausting -- I'm glad my size has stayed pretty consistent for the last few years, so I just keep buying the same (not terribly exciting) bra over and over. ;-)

I can see your style easily incorporating all those items. That fair isle sweater intrigued me, but I didn't see it in store, and I was a little put off by such a price for a blend that is relatively low on cashmere -- but the fact that you and Angie are fans makes me think it might be worthwhile. Hmmm.

  • Janet replied 8 years ago

If I can piggyback on the topic of the fair isle sweater...how did you find the sizing? It looks like a slightly shrunken style, and it appears I would take a medium, but I wonder if it's something that would be better sized up for a little ease.

  • jackiec replied 8 years ago

Well done, Aida! Love what you've purchased. Look forward to seeing what else you get ;).....

YAY. You found bras. WOOOHOOOO. It's done, Aida. Breathe a huge sigh of relief. I ONLY wear Simone Perele bras because their 30D is cut very small. I need a 28D in other bras - which they don't make. I LOVE my bras because they're really pretty. I refuse to wear undies that don't match and aren't pretty (it's a quirk). Really hope you're on a GOOD bra wicket now. It's very much worth the expense.

And snap. We are fair-isle twins - at least, for now. *smiling*. Looking forward to seeing the rest of your stuff, which I know is going to look super cute on ultra fab you.

  • Angie replied 8 years ago

AND, I wrote this on the blog post in response to you:

"My dear, Aida. My refined footwear twin. The Timberland Glastonburys are much daintier than the Bramhalls. Get those instead."

  • Kari replied 8 years ago

The fair isle sweater and that boucle jacket are beautiful. I tried the jacket but the buttons have to be very specifically placed relative to your waist to get the right fit.

Look forward to seeing you rock those white pants. And yay for perfectly fitting bras!

  • Thistle replied 8 years ago

Gorgeous choices, and I applaud you for sticking to your list and budget!

  • Staysfit replied 8 years ago

The bra fitting sounds well worth the time spent. It's rare to find that many bras that work in one shopping trip. Your NAS picks look great and I look forward to seeing how you style them. Maybe you won't regret the extra items you ordered. Some of my best purchases have been my most spontaneous.

  • Lisa replied 8 years ago

I've been eying that boucle jacket.  I'm curious how it fits.  And kudos to you sticking to your list.  It is so easy to get sidetracked at NAS.

  • lyn67 replied 8 years ago

Oh, I just want that bouclé jacket, too:-((.

  • Laura (rhubarbgirl) replied 8 years ago

Lisa and Lyn, you might be closer in shape to Aida, but I did post a quick pic of the boucle jacket on me on one of my posts.

  • Sveta replied 8 years ago

4 hour bra fitting - wow! I envy you stamina - I would be completely spent after 1 hour of fitting! But you did well - 5 well fitting bras is as close to nirvana as it gets.
Love the white pants. Cropped perfectly fitted  and not see-through white pants are on my shopping list too. How is the fit in the calves - this is my usual problem spot in slim pants.

  • Debbie replied 8 years ago

Love the items you bought. Can't wait to see you in them,

  • Aida replied 8 years ago

Thanks for all the comments ladies! Fun to hear that these items resonate for my style with you all. Once I get all my boxes and decide what, if anything, else I'm keeping I'll take a few photos with the items on. So far I only know I'll also be keeping the Zella capris ^^

JJ, yep definitely planning to wear the fair isle with the white pants!

Laura and Jenny, how fun that you both also bought the boucle jacket! I have the lighter colorway coming in the mail, but am currently leaning towards keeping the darker version.

Una, I am trying my best to be pickier! It's especially tough at the moment since I have a LOT of holes as I'm rebuilding my wardrobe for a smaller size. I don't know that it's me being patient, but more that having a limited budget is forcing me to really consider everything that I take home.

Joy, the tights are pretty fun right? I have been slowly collecting textured nude hose over the last few years and have a nice little stash now ^^

Janet, I would say that the fair isle sweater runs small, definitely a shrunken style. I am usually an XS (or sized out), and I went with a S for a fitted look (the XS was very snug). I could easily have gone up to a M for more ease, but I really liked the fit especially with the white high-waisted pants. So I'd say one size up for a fitted fit and two for more ease. The knit is thick so it wouldn't "drape" exactly, but with the big welted hem if it's not pulled down all the way you get a fun little blousson effect.

Angie, it was grueling! I was a bit surprised that I ended up with three different sizes across the bras, and that the Simon Perle were the smallest sizes of the bunch. The bottom bands on all of them feel good, the tops all feel a little snug -- my ribcage certainly follows my IT shape! I'm hoping that they ease up a little along the tops as the SA said they will. Re the boots, I'm surprised to hear that the Glastonburys are daintier looking than the Bramhalls! The soles look so much thicker which makes things feel heavy to me. I will continue to think on those!

Kari, the button on the boucle jacket wasn't in a good spot for you? I tried mine buttoned up but didn't like how it looked; I plan to exclusively wear mine open.

Svetlana, the white pants are probably not quite what you are looking for as they are a bit sheer -- sheer enough that the side seams almost look like a shadow tuxedo stripe, though they look fine with nude undies. I don't mind a little sheerness, but I know I'm in the minority on that. They're also rather lightweight, more of a spring/fall pant; I'm hoping to wear them in winter on milder days with nude hose. The calves are quite slim, and they are full length on me (so probably ankle-bordering-cropped length on you).

  • AviaMariah replied 8 years ago

Good job staying on task!  I've done that too, SO FAR, and it feels good.  4 hours trying on bras???!!!   It makes me think I'm not spending near enough time to get the right fit because I usually have them measure me and high-tail it out with the first bra that's reasonable comfortable. I might have to be more picky next time.
