WIW 04.02-08

Hope you've all had a great week! These are actually the outfits I wore LAST week. My apologies for including so many photos in one post but it's been super busy at work so I didn't have time to split these across two posts like I'd planned.

  1. Mon, worn to work and out for tacos. Dark wash flares are now put away for the season, light wash flares are back in rotation! Also getting the furry vest back in.
  2. Tue, worn to work and run some errands. Sneaking in a couple more wool shorts looks on cooler days.
  3. Wed, worn to work. Also sneaking in a couple more tall boots looks while I still can :)
  4. Thu, worn to work and then to an arena football game. Ran into a friend I haven't seen for a few years who commented I "still dress like Aida". Not sure to take that as a good or bad thing since last I saw him I hadn't started my big style overhaul. Hubby didn't help by saying "maybe it's because you still dress weird" -_-
  5. Fri, worn to work, then double-date with my sis to a comedy show at the Tulalip Casino, then out for burgers. Hubby and I felt underdressed at the show, even though we were dressier than most of the people there.
  6. Sat, worn to a birthday BBQ for one of my good friends. One and only outing of these poor booties, at least in this color. I will post an update about them this weekend!
  7. Sun, worn to easter dinner at my folks'. I don't really wear pastels, so this was about as eastery as I could manage.

Comments, critiques, thoughts and questions welcome!

    I love those looks, particularly # 2.

  • citygirldc replied 12 years ago

    I love 2 and 5 and 7.

Great outfits and I love all your shoes! Each photo was just better than the last. I especially like those light colored tall boots and the ones in #6 (I'm not sure what to call those).

You look terrific Aida! I love 3,6 and 7! I'm a sucker for blues and I love you in dresses. This is the first I've heard about your oxford's unfortunate incident. Sending my condolences! :/

These are all fabulous outfits (again!) Aida - I'm particularly drawn to your outfit in #5. There's something so simple but strong about it. I also love the nude belt and boots with the ON dress - a combination I never would have thought of but it looks great.

OMG - I just read your post about the Boutique 9's (I hadn't seen it previously)....that's AWFUL! I hope you are able to get replacements because they look great on you.

Love your style 6 is my fav especially like shoes & blue nail polish - lovely finishing touch.

  • nancylee replied 12 years ago

I always enjoy seeing your creative outfits (and equally creative photo montages), Aida. I'm loving all of these...but feeling special love for the fur vest look in #1.

  • rae replied 12 years ago

I also love #2! Yay for tights with shorts! #5 is my next favorite, and high five to another trench gal. :) You have an uncanny knack for wearing black in a spring-y way.

  • Amy replied 12 years ago

You have such a killer style! #2 is my favorite, but they're all close contenders. Are the shoes in #6 comfy? They're pretty!

  • sarah replied 12 years ago

Aida, I missed the other post. I'm so sorry about your shoes. Ugh. Perhaps I should lie and say that I really don't like that outfit anyway? Uh, sorry, can't do it. I love it. Along with all the rest, but especially 2 and 5.

  • Suz replied 12 years ago

Great outfits, Aida! Is that the same dress as Shannon has, in #3? The colours are gorgeous on you. But I'm a huge sucker for #2.

  • Jenava replied 12 years ago

My fav is #4, probably because I love the necklace! I'm mourning the loss of your poor shoe...hopefully the situation can be rectified!

  • Sveta replied 12 years ago

Every time you wear shorts and tights I swoon! The rest is great too - thanks for posting.

  • Beth Ann replied 12 years ago

All your looks are terrific, and very "Aida." I'm particularly fond of the shorts look in 2, the laidback look with the fab books in 6, and the wonderful color of 7.

  • kellygirl replied 12 years ago

Oooh, you look gorgeous as ever, Aida! Your posts are such a visual treat! My absolute fave is the neutral goodness of 5. It is to die for! The shorts outfit is trademark Aida--great neutrals and fun tights! Both dresses are awesome--I can't believe you were able to wear the Target dress in Washington already! It's been too cold here in Cali to pull that thing out! I love the ON dress with the MM boots--that is such an awesome combo. I want to copy! Great outfits all the way around, Aida. I'm SO glad you are posting WIW's again!

Aida, you're all-week all fabulous, as always!

I'm particularly enchanted by #1 and #4. The first for that gorgeous chartreuse shirt with the faded jeans and bright red bag; the second because I adore all the pattern mixing, right down to necklace and sunglasses with the red-on-red! Of course #5 and #6 are just no-brainer killer outfits. (Hope *something* can be done to rescue the shoes, even if it's a dark dye job!)

  • christieanne replied 12 years ago

Weird? I would hardly describe your style that way!

Outfit 2 is a total hit - I am pretty sure Angie would give it her special k.
Your dresses are cute but I am always impressed with how you do an amped up denim/pants look.

  • AJ replied 12 years ago

All great looks. I always like it when you style your wool shorts! You look very ladylike in your Easter outfit. YLF!

  • Louise replied 12 years ago

So much fabness I can't choose a favourite. I'm very inspired by #1 I struggle to wear my faux fur vest casually so this is making me think about trying it over my denim shirt x

  • replied 12 years ago

I am swooned by your jeans in #1. I have looked for something like that for years!
Thanks for the inspiration. These are all K word worthy.

  • Jonesy replied 12 years ago

Love the red jacket outfit! Love the partial tuck look! Love the look with the Boutique 9 shoes (RIP--so sad!). It's so great to see you posting again. Your life sounds so fun, too, with all of your socializing and eating out (says the mom who rarely goes out in the evening :).

  • Meredith1953 replied 12 years ago

Aida you akways post such creative oufits and I love your color choices. All the outfits are lovely although I have never been a fan of those little furry vests. Other than that I love all of these pictures! You look beautiful!

  • CocoLion replied 12 years ago

Thanks for sharing! I give you the coolest outfit of the week award for #1. I am inspired to do something like this now! #2 is great also and I am surprising myself that I love your Easter outfit, as I am usually not into ladylike. It loos so chic with the trench!

  • Jaime replied 12 years ago

I really couldn't pick a favorite - each outfit has a special it factor. Very inspirational!

  • Aida replied 12 years ago

Thank you all for the wonderful comments and feedback! (Sorry for getting back to this a bit late, had a busy weekend >< )

Shannon, recently I'm finding I don't like mixing in a lot of other colors with black, especially when pairing with light/bright colors. Big swathes of black + light make for interesting colorblocking! I find nude shoes with the ON especially useful since the length is midi on me (on you too I think?).

Rae, yay for trenches! This black one is my only one AND my only spring coat. I'd love to get a couple colorful trenches though, looking at a cobalt one that I'm hoping to be able to try soon. I'm glad you think I'm doing black in a springy way, I feel like am struggling a bit with it!

Amy, before I messed them up they were quite comfy indeed, super soft leather and very sturdy heel. After soaking in water for an hour+ they're a bit small and stiff now ;)

Suz, yep same dress as Shannon's. I had to run out and try it after seeing how lovely she looked in it! :)

Kelly, it is actually a bit cold for the Target dress but I wore it anyway :D There's nude microfishnets and the cardigan to help warm it up hehe

Christieanne, thank you! I'm definitely a pants gal, and denim in particular, so I'm always looking for ways to dress up my jeans.

Louise, I think your furry vest would look great with a denim shirt! Now I want to try that, too ^^

Denise, aw thank you! Your minimalist boho looks are always inspiring, especially in the summer which is when my boho side tends to come out.

I am looking at these pics and having a thought I've never had before. In pic one you look like you are from the santa fe area or going to Sundance, pic 2 says new york to me and the rest are a toss up between midwest and PNW. Wow, I had never realized your repertoire was not just so many other fab things as your always styling outwrwear too, the way you embrace your hair and do funky cool things with it, the mixology of wardrobe pieces you are so good at but you are also like the US map!!! ( I mean that as the hugest compliment, hope you take it as such).

  • Carole replied 12 years ago

Wow! You look fantastic in each outfit and they are all so different! I think 2 is my fav, love love love it!

  • Aida replied 12 years ago

Sona, thank you so much I definitely take that as a huge compliment!! You are right, I'm fairly eclectic (much to my hubby's woes, he doesn't like the inconsistency), and it is one of my biggest style challenges. Trying to marry all of my favorite style genres (punk, urban, Euro-chic, retro) and decades (80s, 70s, 60s, 40s) sometimes feels like mixing oil and water. I hadn't really thought of it as being spread out across the map, but it makes sense and I like the idea :D

    Carole, thanks!

  • Heather replied 12 years ago

    Aida, I am so sick about the fate of your booties. Like a dagger in the back....*sob* ; _ ;

I love you in bright colors and light denim!!! Gorgeous.

  • Sarah A replied 12 years ago

I always find your posts delightful and this is no exception! I love the partial tuck with the peep of red belt in #5 and the red and citron rocking #1... and welll... just everything. I find the blues in 3,6,7 really fun and love the dress in #3 on both you and Shannon!

  • Aida replied 12 years ago

Thanks Heather! I like light denim and bright colors, too! And bright denim for that matter, I just got some emerald skinny jeans :D The booties.. have been ongoing. I'm almost done with their accidental DIY, and just managed to find another of the taupe in my size and they are on their way to me! I may end up with two very different pairs after all is said and done :)
