WIW 03.14-17

Last week's outfits (before and not including the Sart outfit worn on the 18th).

  1. Worn to work, then out for tacos for dinner. Experimenting with belting a scarf, but over outerwear only :)
  2. Worn to work. Not sure about shorts+tights without boots, did this turn out OK? The whole shorts+tights thing is still a very new look for me. I think I should've worn a shorter or longer coat, too.
  3. Worn to the dentist for 2 crown seatings, then off to work. Sporting the semi-tuck which I've become more partial to. (Get it? Get it?? Punny.)

Comments, critiques, thoughts and questions welcome!

I'd think I'd like #2 better with boots or chunky heels. The ballet flats seem a bit too twee for me.
I like the semi-tuck on you.

  • Aida replied 13 years ago

Chunky heels! That's what I should have done, thanks. Would, say, these sandals work? I think all my chunkier heels are in sandal form at the moment.

I'm liking the belted scarf and I love the semi-tucked, casual #3.

  • annagybe replied 13 years ago

Yes those would have worked just fine.

I agree with Anna on the boots or chunky heels. i'm not really into ballet flats at all, though - probably because I can't wear them. Sour grapes and all. You look great, and I am THRILLED that the Sart inspiration outfit went over so well!

    Morethanbeige - Thanks!

Anna, Una - I'll try with these sandals next time, perhaps later this week. I've only worn the shorts+tights with boots before this.

Una - I like ballet flats for certain looks, but usually I just feel too short! And they also never have enough arch support for my high arches. (Still working on the style direction analysis, I'm having a bit of a split personality crisis that I need to work through!)

very nice. i like the shorts with the ballet flats and the chunky heels. Not sure if i would feel comfortable wearing the tights, shorts, chunky heels at work though.

Oy! I like 'em all (agree with the shoe suggestion re: #2 but LOVE that scarf!), and the third one in particular is just knocking my socks off!!

  • Angie replied 13 years ago

Aida, I can see your style evolving. Can you see it evolving? Me likey :)

I see Anna's point about the cunky heel, but I like the ballet flats too actually. Sweet!

Digging the half tucked look and the belted scarf. Well done. You look fab!

1 & 3 look great, 2 looks a bit seasonally confused to my eye - the shorts don't seem weighty enough with the black tights (does that make sense?), but the suggestion of a chunkier shoe might help or even a chunkier sweater. The scarf in 2 is goregous!

  • Aida replied 13 years ago

    Thanks ladies!

Angie - I certainly see it, and have been actively evolving it with gentle YLF prodding :) I just posted a rather long post about this very topic. Glad you like it :D

Lori - The tights are semi-sheer, though perhaps I need them to be even sheerer for the other lighter-weight materials. The shorts are definitely cool weather material though not very thick so I see your point.

  • nicoleb replied 13 years ago

I think you look great in all of them! Love the shorts with tights...i'm thinking of doing this too soon...

  • kellygirl replied 13 years ago

Great outfits, Aida! #3 is especially striking. Dramatic necklace and love the combination of brown and black! You do half tucked like nobody's business (love your pun!) The shorts are fab--I bet that chunky sandal would work well too but I do like it with the flats. It's sweet! The mustard and the stripes is a great color combination. I wouldn't have thought of that. I think I have that same top--and have only paired it with denim. Love to see your style evolving!

So, I have no favourites, love them all, would copy them all.Am I to blame for that ;)

  • replied 13 years ago

The shorts/tights combo looks nice, though, as you later stated, perhaps more sheer tights would've looked even better. Good job, though!

  • Heather replied 13 years ago

Aida, I adore your winter shorts. Very nice.

Also, I love when you wear your hair down, but the half up do is rockin'. You look terrific. Thanks for the extra pic of the side view.

  • Aida replied 13 years ago

Thanks for the great feedback, ladies!

Nicole - You'd rock the shorts+tights look, definitely give it a go. And then post pics so I can see how you style it :D

Kelly - This shirt also looks great with skirts! *hint hint*

Heather - I picked these shorts up from LOFT on clearance to experiment with, and I'm glad I did. I'd love to get a slouchy heavier wool pair similar to the ones Una just posted too though. Thanks for the hair compliment, I'm pretty hair challenged!

  • catgirl replied 13 years ago

Aida, I got a black pair of wool sailor shorts at Anthro last year and they are really fun. Now is probably a bad time to be looking for wool shorts, though... I'll keep my eye out!

  • Aida replied 13 years ago

Yeah, probably not the best time to look hehe. It will be on my list this fall for sure! I'm thinking slouchy and pleated...

  • CocoLion replied 13 years ago

Love your striped top in #1! The scarf tucking into outerwear is cool! That would have really caught my eye if I saw you walking down the street.

Don't ask me any shorts with tights questions, I'm pretty clueless except I like the way they look with combat boots a la Tank Girl.

You are great at PPL, right up there with Sarah from Texas. Are your jeans in #3 a little loose, though? Or are they cut slouchy?

  • Aida replied 13 years ago

Denise, you caught me; the pants in #3 have indeed gotten loose by about a size >< (not complaining though, I'm very happy to finally be successfully losing weight). They were my "these make my butt look great!" pants and now they're a looser almost wide-leg boyfriend fit. Which I like, but they're starting to look sloppy in the waist and butt. I still love them so I'll get those taken in pretty soon, but I definitely plan to keep them looking slouchier overall. I can call them my "boyfriend wide legs" :)
