WIW 02.17, 18 Feeling the French vibe

Feeling the French vibe apparently, though I think they both turned out less Parisian chic and more rock casual (surprise surprise). I like this vibe very much, I think it's perfectly within my personal style range. Both worn to work, #2 worn out to dinner as well.

  1. Based loosely off this Comptoir des Cotonniers look. Wearing my new navy polka dot scarf from Modcloth (thanks Una!).
  2. My take on the Chanel Gal on the Go look. This is something I'd likely have put together before having read the post, but after reading it certainly got the outfit in my head. I don't really do flower pins but I do love my flower cocktail ring.

Cute looks -- and I really like your inspiration outfit, too. *And* I love your blue nails!

Okay. Outfit #1 with the red bag just sent me into ORBIT.

KILLER to the power of KILLER. Your best ever in my book, Aida!!

Now excuse me while I recover..

Ooh lala, Aida! Great outfits. 1 is classic Aida with a twist. Love the polka dot scarf--you hair is gorgeous like that! #2 reminds me bit of your Sartorialist ensemble--love that one too with those cap toe flats. Great pattern mixing--stripes and houndstooth. I love it. I also really like that necklace looks like a waterfall of pearls (?)--lovely! Love your WIW's!

Love both outfits, they still feel like you, but I really like the crispness and simplicity these have compared to some of the other outfits. You pull this look off well!

    Thanks ladies!

Rae - I was thinking about Marley's post about nail polish, and Anna had mentioned navy. I'd totally forgotten I had some! Very fun color.

Angie - So you're saying I should wear this more often? ;) Thanks so much, that totally makes my day! I will certainly be wearing more outfits in this style. Also, I must say I'd underestimated the power of a red bag. Can't believe I didn't get myself one earlier.

Kelly - I'm not sure what I did when drying my hair for #1, but I sure wish I knew! #2 has the jeans and blazer from the Sartorialist look; I'm liking their 80s vibe when paired (the blazer IS 80s vintage). The necklace is indeed many overlapping links of faux pearls. THAT'S what I should've put a detail of in the top right, doh! (Might do that tomorrow if I have time.)

Lisa - That's a very astute observation, and now that you say it I can see how to bring this more into my style. Thanks very much!

I love #1 on you. I prefer yours to the inspiration (I don't like rolled bf jeans -- I am too short to like them!). The scarf and matching nails take the outfit from cute to chic!

I am impressed with your take on the Chanel GOTG. It's very thorough in its details.

Both outfits great but love the chanel one. gorgeous flats!

  • Laura (rhubarbgirl) replied 13 years ago

Can I ask what your polish is in #1? I love the shade.

  • Lynne replied 13 years ago

I've said it before, I know...you wear blue and brown SO well, Aida! Funnily enough, I prefer the Chanel inspired look with out the jacket - maybe for warmer weather?

  • Ornella replied 13 years ago

Aida, I love love love them both. So you and so fantastic. The nails steal the show, if I must chose something.

  • Sveta replied 13 years ago

Honestly, I cannot even say which one I like better, Aida. They both feel very much you but in the same time quite different from your WIW I have seen before.
Power of the red bag...how come I do not have a red bag yet?

  • Queen Mum replied 13 years ago

LOVE #2! It is fabulous on you!

  • Angie replied 13 years ago

Aida, I think outfit #2 adds a new dimension to your look. It's dressier, yet you're wearing flats. Amen to red bags. You are preaching to the one million percent converted!!! But then you know I'm on Team Red.

  • rute replied 13 years ago

Aida!! Wow! Love 2!!! The flats, the necklace, the outfit... everything is perfect!

  • MsMary replied 13 years ago

Those are both fantastic! Love them!!

  • Jonesy replied 13 years ago

Agree with MaryK--both of these look really great!

  • celia replied 13 years ago

    I love both outfits!
The first one is one more for me to copy whenever the weather helps.
The new chanel vibe looks so good on you, I think you definetly should try more of this kind of outfit.
    You're a stylish lady .

Thanks for all the lovely comments everyone :D

Rhubarb - The polish is "Navy Baby" by Sally Hansen. It's a very dark, almost-black navy; the blue mostly shows up in the light. The one I linked is newer than mine, but should be the same color.

Sveta - I think a red bag would suit you nicely!

Angie - I'm thinking adding the structure from the blazer along with the dark jeans is what's dressing this up?

  • Zoe B. replied 13 years ago

Love your interpretation of the Compt. de Cotton. look with the leather jacket!! The second look is fab too! Great nails and ring!

  • Laura (rhubarbgirl) replied 13 years ago

Aida, thanks very much for the polish info. And I should have said you look great in my earlier message; so rude, sorry!

  • Aida replied 13 years ago

    Zoe - Thanks very much!

Rhubarb - Not rude at all, no worries! :D Hope you can find the polish and that it works out for you.

  • Bookarella replied 13 years ago

Love both of these looks, Aida. The first is so very "you"! I love the navy nails, btw. The second is a different look for you or at least one that I don't remember seeing you do before. Again, you have made it your own and it totally works. Congrats!

  • Angie replied 13 years ago

Spot on, Aida. Did hubby like this outfit and does he like red?

  • Aida replied 13 years ago

Bookarella - Thanks very much! They were fun to put together.

Angie - Will be keeping this info in mind as I prepare to shop for spring (though I like less structure when it's warm, so we'll see!). Hubby liked the outfit except for the mini-pompadour bangs which I already know he hates :) If it had been worn with heels he probably wouldn't like it. He does like red, luckily; I don't have much so I need more of it in my wardrobe!
