End of the week outfits from last week. All worn to work.

  1. Outfit I wore with the new moto-sweater. I wanted to emulate the silhouette my swapped olive top gives. I also was inspired to pull out my flared jeans for wear with flats, but I still find them tricky.
  2. I confess I ended up untucking this because the sweater was just too short to stay put! This is a top I'm on the fence about due to color, I'm not really into pink.
  3. I have worn this dress only once in the past year. It's too short to wear alone and the waist is too high for me. I rather like how this turned out though. Also the whole look was too sweet looking so I had to rough it up (hair, eyeliner, belt, and jacket); it got mixed reviews from family. Always have trouble with my denim jacket because they're pretty common where I live, but never worn stylishly; also I feel like it should be covered in spikes and patches ;)

I love #3 & it's even better with the jackt. with the denim jacket.

I don't think the pink matches what I have seen of your style.

Love #1 and 2. I'm a sucker for stripes and this is a different silhouette on you. The new moto is fab! You could change it up by adding a different belt but it looks pretty sweet as is. Love the dress in 3--what a great kind of bohemian-esque look. It's boho with edge because of the belt and the boots. I really like that look on you! #2 I'm kind of "meh" on the color--I picture you in a more vibrant pink--this one doesn't do you justice IMHO.

I absolutely love your last outfit! Best of the lot if you ask me. Definitely keep the denim jacket too.

I dunno if it would be better if the leggings were off white or cream instead of pure white. Now the colour sorta stands out from the dress because of its different shade. But I do love the white leggings and brown boots combo, just maybe not this particular shade? :D

PS. And you have such a lovely nature backdrop! Was this at your home?

I have to be blunt here. That shade of pink with that shade of green is very 80's home decorating. Sorry. I like #1 though.

Thanks for the comments! Those who commented that #2's color doesn't fit my style are right, I mainly kept it because I like blush colors but this one is a bit too bright I think (Anna phrased it very nicely actually :) ). I'll be putting it in the donate pile, thanks for the help on this!

Afterism - Thanks! I'll try to work the jacket in more outfits.

Kelly - I haven't tried this tunic with a belt other than its rope self-belt, but I'll do that next time I wear it! I'm already at a loss at how to style this dress for next time though.

Sue - You're definitely right about the leggings, if I had cream I'd have certainly worn those instead. I tried to get a little more white in there with the camisole, but it doesn't show enough I think. The backdrop is in my back yard, thanks for the compliment on it :)

Anna - I appreciate the bluntness, and I've finally resolved to toss this top. Thanks for the push :)

    love #3!

I love #3 alaso. I really love your hair off your face!

  • Angie replied 13 years ago

I LOVE #3, Aida!! WOW. I have never seen white tights work so well. Add it to your KILLER list. Just for that you get the next YLF award :)

Your collages are just beautiful. Who take the pictures?

  • Sveta replied 13 years ago

I like #3 - so unexpectedly sweet and tough in the same time!

  • Aida replied 13 years ago

Thanks ladies! #3 seems to be the resounding favorite of this group :)

    Melissa - Thank you!

Taylor - Thanks, I'm trying to wear my hair up more! My husband will be happy to hear that others also like it up better hehe

Angie - Yay, a Killer AND an award! Glad #3 meets approval, I struggled mightily with it. I also don't get a chance to wear the white leggings often, I'm usually at a loss for how to style them. The photos are taken with my camera's self-timer on my back patio (luckily we have a pretty property for the backdrop); I set the camera on the outdoor heating lamp's tabletop, turn on the timer, and run across the patio to pose for the photo :)

Sveta - Thanks, that's totally what I was going for! I think adding toughness like this is the only way I can wear sweet outfits.

Wow, #3 is just crazy-good!! Love everything about it!

I actually like the pink on you. How about throwing the denim jacket on that outfit and seeing if that breaks the evil 80s spell?

  • Aida replied 13 years ago

Hehe Mary, I think of denim jackets as being soooo 80s! I'm not sure that'd salvage it, but I'll try it.

  • Marley replied 13 years ago

LOVE #3 - it just brought a smile to my face! Also, I think #1 is a great outfit - the stripes just work for me. But, I'm agreeing with others on #2 - that shade of pink with the olive green reminds me tooo toooo much of my Aunt Maggie's living room that has the same furniture and wallpaper that she had in the 80's! You take great pics!

  • Aida replied 13 years ago

Thanks Marley! I don't really remember any interior decorating from the 80s so I don't get that vibe, but I suppose I'll have to try the top with another color before tossing it.

  • Lisa replied 13 years ago

#3 is my favorite! I hope you start wearing this dress more often. It's nice to see the new moto in action too. Looks so cozy! The flared pants look fine with flats to me, are those shoes pointy toed? #2 I'm on the fence, it's not bad but I think I'd like you in a stronger shade of pink, maybe fuchsia or magenta? I do like pink and green paired together.

  • Jonesy replied 13 years ago

For me, the '80s were about that sort of pink with a "country blue"--does that ring any bells for anyone else? So I don't mind the pink with the olive :). I like the striped top in 1, and I really like the dress/jacket/boots in 3, but I'm not keen on the stark white leggings (I'd probably go dark, like dark brown). But just my two cents!

  • Aida replied 13 years ago

    Thanks ladies!

Lisa - The flats I'm wearing in #1 are almond toed (nearly all of my shoes are this shape, it follows my natural toe line). I do have 2 pairs of pointy toed heels, but rarely wear them because I'm not terribly fond of the shape on me. Fuchsia is a good color on me but I have only a cardigan in the color because, well, it's still a pink :) I'll do an outfit up with it this week, see what everyone thinks.

Jonesy - I wore my dark brown leggings last time with the dress, and when paired with brown boots I really felt like a wall of brown ;) I'll try and pick up a pair of cream, that may go over a bit better (though I DO like the harshness of the white).

  • Kyle replied 13 years ago

Number three is a hit with me too, though I'd definitely prefer a darker tight. It's creative, flattering and fun. Inspiring.
