WIW 01.10-12

What I wore the last three days; it's been quite cold, as you can see from the uncommon snowfall. I must say, having a fab collection of boots makes giving outfits that extra pizazz awesomely easy (why did I wait so long to fill this hole!?). I'm very much enjoying my new boot purchases and new willingness to wear them however I please. (Thanks YLF!)

  1. Worn to work, then out for tacos. Probably my favorite outfit of the past year of my cataloging, no joke.
  2. Worn to work. Perhaps too much brown? I think the pink gloss was too icy looking, and may officially give up on pink lip tones and stick with orange tones. Also some tucking, look it's easy! ;)
  3. Worn to work, felt very uninspired this morning. My best "meh" day outfit ever, cheered me right up.

Aida, fantastic as usual! I love the grey and brown combo in the first, it's my fave! Number 2 doesn't look too brown to me, but I AM a brown gal...and there is nothing meh about number 3 - fantastic. Interesting that you prefer the warmer lip gloss - give it a try, I say. Glosses are such a different colour on than they look in the tube. Can you tell us about your year of no repeats? Have been wondering how that works...

#1 is a really great look. I also love how you layout your photos :)

I agree about outfit 1--it's my fave of everything you have posted! It just looks perfect! 2 is very '70s-influenced, to my eye. You wear that vest well. 3 looks cute and comfy.

I love #3 the best -- love the green skinnies (I have a similar pair and would wear them every day if I could) and LOVE LOVE LOVE that fab coat! And the boots. The whole thing is just perfection! And 1 and 2 are fantastic, too! Well done!!

1 is my fave, too, Aida. You look stylish and effortlessly cool! I know what you mean on the boots. Since I joined YLF, I have spent more on boots than I want to think about, but I wear them lots. They make me feel good! What am I gonna do when spring/summer comes and they have to sit on the shelf? :)

Collage #1 - KILLER. Love you in that look, Aida. It brings out your inner punk. Fab!

Thanks ladies, glad to hear everyone's feeling what I'm feeling with these looks!

Lynne - I don't wear gloss often (too sticky and I don't really want my lips looking bigger than they already are), but I do have a lovely orange from MAC which I like; the gal who did my makeup for my wedding used orangey lip stuff on me and it was such an ah-ha! I've just been reluctant to admit that icy pinks don't work hehe. I commented on the no-repeats year in the "how do you start putting an outfit together" thread, but I can write something more detailed up if you'd like, it's certainly been quite a project :)

Teri - Thanks! I need to get around to writing that collage post...

Jonesy - Glad you see the 70s influence there, that's what I was going for but I wasn't too sure how close it was. The cropped vest length is tricky!

Mary - I had trouble getting behind the skinny cargos because I didn't like the idea of adding the extra width of pockets to my thighs. But I still like the overall look, so I bought these olive skinnies on super clearance and love them way more than I'd expected! I saw yours, they look great! Mine are super skinny with teeny ankle openings so I don't wear them as often as I would if they were normal skinnies.

Bookarella - I hate having to shelf footwear too! I wear my shorter boots all year, as long as the temps are below 70, though to be fair we can expect rain 10 months of the year :)

Angie - Thanks so much, I certainly felt like my punk-Aida self today, it was awesome! Now to try and channel this in more of my looks...

Great outfits, Aida! I love your signature stripes. The first outfit is a knock out--the cropped jacket and fab boots. You look killer. I thought #2 looked 70's influenced as well--probably a combination of the belt, boots and vest. Nice pattern mixing too! Super cute! Nice and simple outfit in #3--amazing how much your hairstyle changes the overall look. Wish I could see the pendant. It looks like a robot.

#3 is my fave of the bunch but all three are quite nice. I don't think you have too much brown in #2. And you tuck quite nicely. :)

Great photo's!! I love to see your posts!

Love, love #1. The stripes, the jacket, the boots...it's a fab look:)

  • Aida replied 13 years ago

Thanks for the comments everyone! I'm happy to hear the brown wasn't overkill, I was a bit worried about it but not enough to change hehe

Kelly - I'm amazed at how much my hair changes looks too! And yes, the pendant is a cute little robot with hinged limbs and a heart on his chest :)

I am another one loving the first outfit! You are really stylin' while keeping your own vibe. I love that.

  • Aida replied 13 years ago

Thanks Una, I'm feeling like I'm getting a LOT closer to what I want my style to be in the few months I've been on YLF compared to the 1.5 years I was going it alone.

  • tarzy replied 13 years ago

You look so cool in skinnies tucked into boots. I love how you're finding your style groove - you look so happy and confident.

  • Aida replied 13 years ago

Thanks Tarzy! Considering how much I love the look, I am constantly surprised that I didn't get my first pair of skinnies until this past fall! Fashion risks are certainly worth taking :)
