While I'm diving into animal print, Matisse booties arrived :)

Well these Matisse cheetah print booties were a lovely thing to find at my door when I got home from work today! I'd been eyeing them since Angie posted them on her blog entry about how to wear animal print shoes, and of course after seeing them in action during her NYFW coverage I was totally sold on them.

The booties are beautiful, with very soft leather and great comfort level. However they are a gappy around the ankles (I'm on Team Small Ankles); acceptable amount or no? What do you ladies think about these shoes for me? Animal print is already out of my comfort zone, so Cheetah print booties are WAY out of my comfort zone. Worth diving? :)

They don't look gappy to me at all. It looks like just the right amount of space for you to be able to move your ankle while walking.

  • Sarah replied 12 years ago

Well, I sure do like them! I love booties with bare legs so it's not a hard sell for me. To my eye there isn't much gapping--or maybe it just doesn't bother me.

I think you look awesome and chic!

  • yublocka replied 12 years ago

These are truly gorgeous booties. Consider me officially green with envy :)

  • cciele replied 12 years ago

Yes, keep them! You totally rock them.

I have them too and mine have a small gap, and I believe Angie's do too. No need to mind the gap, in this case :)

  • Aida replied 12 years ago

Thanks ladies, glad to know you don't think the gap is too big; I think the part that was bugging me is that it's nearly all at the back instead of spread evenly around my ankle. Unless anyone can offer compelling arguments against these I'm planning to keep :D Yay!

  • sarah replied 12 years ago

Nice! I don't think they're too gappy. No compelling arguments here...

Aida good on you for stepping out of your comfort zone. They are fab booties and I think they look good on you. Not too much gap in my opinion. Looking foward to seeing more styling options with them.

  • kimlee replied 12 years ago

I think this are fab and you must keep them. I look forward to seeing how you style them.

  • rae replied 12 years ago

Angie's have a similar gap, yes? I think you're good to go!

  • chewyspaghetti replied 12 years ago

    Dive on in, baby!

  • Angie replied 12 years ago

Would it surprise you if I said they look k-word worthy?

  • nicoleb replied 12 years ago

    Love them!

  • modgrl replied 12 years ago

    Super booties! Love!

  • replied 12 years ago

Perfect! You can totally do animal print; this is a great way to start.

  • morethanbeige replied 12 years ago

Wow, these are so cool. I love them on you!

  • modgrl replied 12 years ago

Did you have to size up?

  • Lisa replied 12 years ago

These look great on you. I even like them with this outfit. I don't mind the gap, it's not a very large gap. Too close to the leg and you would get irritation. I vote keep!

  • Astrid replied 12 years ago

I love them on you - totally worth diving! I think the fit looks great.

  • replied 12 years ago

LOVE them. And they're fabulous with the shorts :)

  • Carole replied 12 years ago

These will be so much fun for your wardrobe. I considered these as well, but the heel height is beyond my limit. Some animal print shoe options seem a little too much to me, but these have a perfect pattern, LOVE.

  • catgirl replied 12 years ago

Love these! If my Franco Sartos don't get approved, they are next on my list. KEEP!

  • MsMary replied 12 years ago

Gap? I see no gap! Just a whole lotta fabulosity!!

  • Ginny replied 12 years ago

    LOVE them! looks great!

  • Janet replied 12 years ago

Aida, mine do the exact same thing, and I think it's fine.

I do have one concern about my pair, now that I see yours. The pattern distribution on mine is much less even than on yours -- the front of one shoe is much lighter than the other, and I'm trying to figure out if it bothers me. I'll post a pic in a new thread.

  • Heather replied 12 years ago

Aida! Don't you DARE return these! They look fab!

Instant outfit idea: Target Chambray blouse, red skinnies, ON vest, Matisse booties.

    Ready? GO!

  • Aida replied 12 years ago

Ah you ladies are the best! Definitely helping me feel more confident to wear these ^^ I don't really have much experience with this shaft height for booties on myself so I'm happy to hear this gap amount is fine (and totally makes sense with the whole, you know, needing room to move thing).

Angie, not too surprised but still awesome to hear :D

Rita, I sized up a half-size as Angie and others suggested. They are a wee bit roomy but I think would be a wee bit tight had I ordered my normal size; my heel is narrow and toe box wider, and the fit with the half size increase is perfect.

Carole, sorry to hear they're above your heel max! For what it's worth, to me these feel lower than 2.25", with the wedge being fairly stable, and the footbed is cushioned.

Janet, that was something I was worried about as well (before ordering). Do post your pair! Did you order from Zappos or Endless? The Endless photos looked a bit different but I just figured it was due to shoe variation.

Heather, love that idea, thank you! I need to make a list of all the great ideas you have and keep them in my closet so when I'm feeling uncreative, I can pop one of them on :D

  • MNsara replied 12 years ago

Did I ever tell you how fab these look?! (As I'm currently live chatting with Zappos about why my Nugent order has just left their warehouse after TEN days :-( and I'm so loving yours that I can hardly stand it. . . )

Heather had a great idea look there! I agree - I wish we could keep a list of Heather's ideas for quick reference ;-)

  • Jonesy replied 12 years ago

Late here, but had to chime in to say I love them on you! The outfit is fab as well (great pose in #2 :).

  • taylor replied 12 years ago

    Yep, super FAB!!

  • Aida replied 12 years ago

Thank you Sara, Jonesy, and Taylor! I am going to wear these tomorrow (probably with those shorts above) and hopefully not be too self-conscious about them :D

  • Aida replied 12 years ago

(Just wanted to thank everyone again, I'm wearing the boots out today and feeling great! I figured, why not go whole hog and do a full on pattern mix outfit: gray/black striped boatneck tee, charcoal plaid wool shorts with a yellow skinny belt, bare legs, cheetah booties :) Hooray for YLF pushing us to try new, wonderfully fab things!)

  • MNsara replied 12 years ago

Yay, Aida! So, will we be treated to a pic of this fun, fab outfit?

  • Aida replied 12 years ago

Well I haven't had a chance to put my outfit collage together, but OK! Here's a simple unedited snapshot ^^

  • Janet replied 12 years ago

Aida, you are so darn cute! I love the booties with the whole ensemble on you!

I won't be rocking them with shorts, but you're inspiring me to wear these out and about this weekend! Temps dipping down into the 60s, wee-haaa!

  • modgrl replied 12 years ago

They look fantastic on you! I ordered them to "try" them out. I don't think they are making it back into the box.

  • Freckles replied 12 years ago

Stunning outfit and whoo hoo for going out of your comfort zone on these. I can so see these styled into your daily rotation.

  • Debora replied 12 years ago

LOVE these, especially with the shorts!

  • Aida replied 12 years ago

Thanks ladies :D Will post this outfit properly eventually, but glad I was able to share for now!

Rita, if they fit you I definitely agree they shouldn't go back into the box :)

  • Mo replied 12 years ago

good for you for going out of the comfort zone! I only hope I can find my pair that fit nicely like these :)
