Keep or Return: leopard, military, and pointy heels

I recently picked up a couple of items I would love to get some feedback on. I am very keen on getting some interesting toppers for this fall, as well as improve my under 4" heels selection :)

1,2 - Leopard print cardigan. Animal print is way out of my comfort zone, but hey I'm all for plunging right in ^^ I like the gray tonal print here, but am a bit concerned with the fit. Is it possible/worth getting the waist taken in? Am I being silly? This is the smallest size. I think I can wear this in a way that fits my style, what do you ladies think?

3,4 - Military vest. I was looking for one all spring/summer without luck, and randomly spotted this one when I wasn't looking any more. The color is a wee bit richer in person. Thoughts?

5,6 - While on a help-sister-shop-for-fall-clothes outing, we stopped by the new DSW (my first time at a DSW, boy could I do some damage there if I'm not careful!) that opened near us. Saw these lovely black and cream shoes, and managed to not purchase (I'm currently on a don't buy heels diet). But immediately after we walked out of the store, I turned around and walked right back in to buy these beauties because I couldn't bear to leave without them :) Totally don't regret that decision!

7,8 - The only Missoni for Target clothing items I ended up keeping were the silk scarves. While out shopping with my sis I also picked up two necklaces and a coral skinny belt. Planning to keep all of these.

Wow, Aida.! You look fab in animal print, is that from Old Navy? The military vest is cute, I like it best zipped up. Great shoes and the scarves are a nice way to wear the Missoni brand. Not as overwhelming as a top or dress, etc., necklaces and belt are going to be perfect for adding some new elements to your already fab ensembles.

I love the cardigan! I bought a leopard print cardigan last spring and have found it very versatile -- I think you'll enjoy this!

I like the vest also, with a slight preference for it open.

The shoes are sweet! As are your new accessories. Great finds!

great photo set. in the first, the leopard sweater is slouchy; fitted in the second. both look good, but if you feel more comfortable, then have it taken in. i don't think it's silly to have something inexpensive taken in. you're more likely to wear it, less wasted money.

i like the military vest open from the front, but closed from the side and back.

i am dying over your new shoes...very prada-esque from last season with the low heel, pointy toe and thin bow. super super fab. must know the brand. are they comfy?

ps: i'm on the same "not buying heels especially if they are not comfortable" diet.

It all looks smashing, Aida! Diving is good :)

    KILLER shoes.

  • modgrl replied 12 years ago

I'm sure you could style the animal cardigan, but I am just not loving it on you right now. I love all of the other pieces. The accessories are great!

Great haul Aida! I love the print of the leopard cardie. I find that length a bit difficult to wear however - not quite boyfriend, not cropped enough to wear with most dresses. The vest is awesome and will be perfect for autumn/summer. I prefer it open. Love the way you *had* to go back for the shoes - you can't miss an oppurtunity like that!!

  • rae replied 12 years ago

Mkay, I love it all! I hope you weren't counting on any nay votes...

BTW, don't take this in a bad way at all, because I normally sort of dislike animal print, but I like your cardi because the print reminds me of amoebas... yeah, I know. I happen to think that's cool.

  • cheryle (Dianthus) replied 12 years ago

I like all of them and those shoes are beautiful. I am not surprised you had to go back for them. They were probably calling your name.

  • catgirl replied 12 years ago

Those shoes are great for your stepped-up style! I love the vest. Like Rita, I'm not totally sold on the cardi - I think it's a difficult length, although the print looks fantastic on you. We are not the same body type, though - so I would like to see how you style it before making a call.

  • sarah replied 12 years ago

Keep, keep, keep! I can see all of these working well with your style.

  • Aida replied 12 years ago

Thanks for the feedback ladies! Ok so I am leaning towards keeping the cardigan and getting it taken in a bit (hopefully that doesn't cost a lot?), but I agree with those who were concerned about the length; I will play with a few styling options over the next few days and post those for further review! Vest, shoes and accessories are passing so I'll happily cut those tags :)

Carole, the cardigan is indeed from Old Navy :)

BJ, The shoes are Anne Klein, and from my limited wearings around the house do seem comfortable especially since they have a padded sole. My heels far outnumber my non-heels which is why I'm trying to buy only low-heels or flats but but... I just love high heels!

Angie, diving is a bit scary especially as I have historically been on team dip :) I thought you might appreciate the shoes hehe! My first black and cream shoe <3

  • Heather replied 12 years ago

Woohoo! Another ON vest on the forum! TXSarah and MNSara have the green one, also. I own the toffee one. :D DSW=Danger Shoe Warehouse! Love those lady like heels. Love the scarves, accessories and I think the cardi is totally you.

For the cardi (since you are working black back into your autumn wardrobe): layer it over a dress and belt it with your bright, new coral belt. Or rock it with a print mix blouse and skirt or exactly how you are wearing it now. Also, bust out your red skinnies with it. :D

  • Aida replied 12 years ago

Woo! Good to know who else has the vest, I shall have to scour the archives for some ideas. Thank you for the cardi suggestions, I will try all of them :D Also thinking it could be fun with the avocado silk JCrew blouse....

  • Heather replied 12 years ago

I want to see the avocado J Crew blouse with the red skinnies and a leo belt.....:D

  • DressLover replied 12 years ago

I'm so jealous - those are the exact scarves I wanted!

Everything looks very fab and fun!

  • Aida replied 12 years ago

Ooh Heather, that sounds too bold even for me! I haven't been able to muster courage to wear those two together yet (though aqua+red was ok, hmmm.....). And well shoot, now you've got me wanting to get a leopard belt! *adds to the list*

DL, have you re-checked your Target? I saw a few of these silk scarves get returned to mine; if I see them again I'll grab them for you!

  • bella replied 12 years ago

Gorgeous shoes! I have the same cardi from Old Navy, but in a different color. Mine fits the same way but I like it. Wear it with your red jeans! - that's what I do.
I like the military vest. Can you pop up the collar? /Leave it open and wear it with some stripes. I am enyious of your Missoni scarves, can't wait to see them in action.

  • Aida replied 12 years ago

Bella, I'm glad to know this cardigan fits you similarly. ON fit is 50-50 for me so sometimes I can't tell if it's not fitting right or not :) Love the idea of pairing with red jeans, will totally be doing that. The vest's collar can indeed be popped, stripes sound like a perfect pairing. Great ideas, thanks so much!

  • Kate replied 12 years ago

Fabulous haul, Aida. Keep it all.

I particularly love the cardigan — I think the length looks fine on you and I think the color is smashing — the shoes and the coral belt.

    You look great!

  • Angie replied 12 years ago

One can gracefully swim to the surface after a dive - even in heels.

  • Aida replied 12 years ago

    Kate, thanks for your feedback!

Angie, wise words that I will take to heart :)

  • Louise replied 12 years ago

    What a fabulous haul x

  • Irene replied 12 years ago

    Gorgeous shoes

  • CocoLion replied 12 years ago

Everything looks great on young beautiful you! I love your new accessories, too.

  • replied 12 years ago

Keep all! The animal print looks on trend, but fresh in gray. I don't mind the fit at all, a little roominess could make it a good layering piece. I really like Heather's suggestion of belting with a skirt.

The military vest also looks like a great layering piece. I'd use it to add interest to skirts and dresses. Love how the waist can cinch!

Fabulous shoes...so glad you didn't leave them behind :)

  • Ginny replied 12 years ago

Love the animal print and I am loving the soes, they are great. I like trhe vest open on you and good job on the accessories!

  • hillview replied 12 years ago

    Seriously LOVE those shoes!

  • Lynne replied 12 years ago

Fab finds, and I am suffering from scarf envy :)....can't wait to see your cardi belted; you may find altering is unneccessary with a thin belt.

  • MsMary replied 12 years ago

I love all of it! I have a cardi that looks very similar to that one, even down to the fit, and I wear it as is, usually with a belt, and don't worry about the bigness through the torso.

  • amyreh replied 12 years ago

Love it all - keep, keep, and keep. I got one of the Missoni scarves too and it is tied around the handle of my purse!

  • nicoleb replied 12 years ago

Aida i think everything looks great on you! I would keep it all! *_*

  • Aida replied 12 years ago

Thanks for all the great feedback everyone! I love how much YLF has improved my shopping savvy <3 (I did have one miss on that trip, but I knew it as soon as I saw the photos so that one didn't make the cut to post here :) ) Thanks also for the great styling ideas for the cardigan and vest, I'm excited to start using them in outfits! Cheers for helping me step out of my comfort zone ^^
