WIW 11.30-12.02

Almost caught up! Here's a few more, I'm very fond of this group. I feel like they're very "me" and representative of where I'd like my style to go. All three were just worn to work though I wish I'd had occasion to wear them out!

  1. I only have a couple blazers, don't wear them often. This one is a vintage 80s blazer, thicker not-even-remotely-drapey material, complete with shoulder pads :) It's leftover from my old stage wardrobe (back when I was in a band) but I do love it, even if it's a bit tricky for me to wear/style.
  2. The look that prompted the hair styling leap. I was inspired by this outfit but it just didn't look like me so I decided to try (semi-successfully) to give myself a bit of a rockabilly do and voila, the look is now very me! I was amazed how a little hair change (plain pony to um.. puffed bang pony?) can overhaul an outfit's vibe, hence the sudden desire to learn to use this accessory of mine.
  3. Got these LOFT shorts on clearance (good for trying new things!) a while back and finally worked up the nerve to wear them out. I think the top is too loose, but I think I like how it looks and more surprisingly my husband actually did like how this looks (!!) so I'll have to at least give it another go or two. What do you all think?

I also wanted to specially thank everyone who commented in my last WIW thread. I'm officially resolving to stop trying to always please both mine and my husband's style aesthetics and really just focus on what I love (will be hard!).

Comments, critiques, thoughts and questions welcome!

Oh, these are all amazing! I love the pocketwatch pendant and the purple and brown pairing. The jacket reminds me a little of my own shoulder-padded jacket which I adore! I think you styled it perfectly with the sleek pants and trendy booties. I am very jealous of your shorts. I've been searching everywhere! I saw a pair at Loft, but they were navy/white tweed which I new wouldn't work for me. Sad. I love this look on you.

You look fantastic in those strong, vibrant colors! I really love #1 - you look really stylish!

Your shorts/tights look caught my eye since I'm still trying to figure that one out. Love it! I may have to copy your styling when I find the right pair :)

You look fantastic in all your photos!

Thanks ladies! I appreciate the feedback, and am happy to know that the shorts are a thumbs up so far :D

Jenava - I started looking for shorts to wear like this last year but never found any; they seem to be sold for a very small window of time. Hopefully you'll find the right pair!

Tarzy - I'm really trying to get into wearing more color, and I love strong jewel tones so I'm glad you think they like me back :)

Sammi - Styling the shorts wasn't as difficult as I had expected, I wish I hadn't waited so long to try it. I think the knit tights was the thing that sold me on actually trying to wear this look.

    I love your photo collages!!

Your peep toe booties are FAB and you have some wonderful pieces of jewelry:)

  • Angie replied 13 years ago

Oooh, Aida! I got so carried away with the first outfit that I forgot to say that I LOVE the shorts outfit too. KILLER necklace.

Thank you for making beautiful photo colleges :)

You photo collages are sooo fab! I think you scored a home run with all three. I love #q--color and silhouettte are perfect. #2 with the purple sweater is to die for--that's another color that really suits you! Love that gorgoeus necklace. #3--the shorts, OMG, looks killer with those boots and that fab army jacket. You look rugged and chic--my favorite combination! Your hair is sooo pretty--I really like it the way you styled it in 3.

    Inspiring, all three!

  • AJ replied 13 years ago

You have fab necklace and footwear collections!

Blazers are always a tricky fit find for me. Glad your bringing yours out to play.

Brown and purple is one of my fave color combos.

    You are rocking those shorts!

    Great collages. Thanks for sharing!

    Thanks everyone!

Taylor - Thanks very much! I know a lot of ladies on the forum don't like peep toe booties, but I love mine to pieces and hope to pick up another pair soon!

Angie - Happy to hear that you also like the shorts outfit, I was very nervous wearing it out. Nothing like a little self-confident swagger to help fool everyone ;)

Kelly - Glad you're feeling my vibe in #3, that "rugged chic" is something I love but don't do as often as I probably should; I have a hard time putting successful outfits like this together, but I must say a lot of your boot outfits have inspired me to try harder!

    Ellie - Thanks!

AJ - I don't have a lot of brown nor purple, but I think I am now a convert of this color pairing too!

Aida, I LOVE your collages, they really 'tell' the look! And I love all 3 - you rock! I've been trying on a leather jacket that I love but I am concerned about the length...it's the same length as yours and yours looks GR8 so I will continue to stalk it! If you have time, pls do post a thread on how to make your collages - for the techy challenged among us...

  • Angie replied 13 years ago

You rocked the shorts and boots look, Aida. I hope you feel even more confident wearing the combo next time.

  • Lisa replied 13 years ago

Great shorts look, you pulled this off well. Nice pendant necklaces here too. I am really enjoying your casual style.
