WIW 10.25-10.30

Well, I debated about whether to post any WIWs. But since I finally decided to join YLF after several weeks of quiet stalking, and have been giving advice, I figured it only fair that I show myself :) Here's what I wore over the week; I think my style is far more casual than most of you here. Thoughts welcome.

Hi Aida, welcome and congrats on your first WIW post!

I love your style! Very current urban casual and I absolutely adore the cat tee in #4. The only thing I would change is the white t-shirt from #5 - I would substitute it for a more substantial knitted top.

My favorites are 2 and 4. I'm glad you posted - if you're taking pics anyway you may as well show them off! My problem is taking the pictures in the first place...

Holy cow, you are the cutest thing ever!! Those are all just fun and you totally OWN them!

I especially love #2 with the lacy cami or whatever peeking out from under your sweater. And I love the accessories and your nail color is to die for!

I am a sucker for a printed A-line skirt, so I love #6, too! The blue belt is so fresh and unexpected and really makes the outfit!

Hi Aida, and welcome! I like your casual, hip style. #1, 2 and 5 are my faves. Super neat jacket! Great photos too, BTW. They can be tough to get!

I'm basically a casual dresser. I wish I had your talent for those chic little touches.

Tanya, that's so funny... I love the "I just rolled out of bed wearing my old threadbare washed-a-million times undershirt" vibe of the tee in number 5. It's a VERY casual look, and you have to be very young, very confident, and have a perfect figure to pull it off. But I'd say Aida qualifies on all counts!

Thanks for the comments ladies, I don't see many people most days so getting feedback is great! You're making me blush.. :D

I've made it a point to take photos before I leave for work each day, as often as possible, to make use of the natural lighting. I can't tell you how helpful this has been in developing my style and figuring out what works and doesn't. I highly suggest it, whether you share the photos with others or not.

MaryK - The polish is from Urban Outfitters and surprisingly good quality for the cheap price; I think it's this one:

Aida, I am refreshed to see your funky casual style! I am a super casual dresser most the time as well. When you say you don't see many people most days, I can relate. Having recently moved here and not working, I don't have anywhere to 'be seen'. Often I don't leave the house so I'm essentially dressing for the cat lol! You look great - casual doesn't negate stylish!

Glad you posted your outfits, we were missing a great urban casual style.
I think you found your look and work well with it.
I love your leather/pleated jacket and your redish pants.

Oh wow - you OWN this style! Love all of these looks - so casually urban! I want that cat t-shirt!!!!! (Also, I love the look of a plain white tee with jeans!)

Thanks for sharing, these are some great looks. I especially like #2, simple and chic. You also nailed your small spot for the belt placement in #6 and the overall outfit is lovely on you.

I'm so glad you posted. You have a fun relaxed style. My faves are 2 and 6. You look really great in that skirt!

  • Marigold replied 14 years ago

Thanks for sharing! Love how you add a little twist to an urban casual look with a belt or accessory. I'm a casual dresser too :)

  • Carole replied 14 years ago

Love your outfits, casual, comfy and put together. My favs are #2 and 6. Great photography, too! Congrats on your first posts, isn't it fun?

ps, I could see a scarf with #2 and 5 for a little extra pop!

  • Aida replied 14 years ago

Ladies, I must say, I'm (very) excited that so many of you think of my style as having an "urban" quality; it's something I've been trying to work towards but didn't think I was quite there yet. /cheer

Carole - I admit that accessories confuddle me a bit. Often I feel like many outfits are "so close" instead of "finished" because it's lacking a certain elusive accessory (be it a scarf, necklace, belt...). I'm definitely in the "less is more" school of accessory thought, but it's one area I'm really trying to improve on.
