WIW 04.27 [formula: duster & separates]

Hello ladies! After a little spring mini-heat wave I was bummed about the cool weather today ... until seeing Angie's delightful formla this morning. As always, Angie to the rescue ^^

I LOVE duster length soft toppers! My solitary structured woven duster bit the dust (haah ~) last year (the whole back seam unraveled, boo) or I'd definitely have tried a version of example #5 from the blog post. Since my only other woven duster is a high summer piece I thought I'd play with this new sorta cardigan? duster -- It's a very open-weave knit with material which feels more like a thick embroidery thread or extra fine rope rather than normal yarn.

#1 is what I'm actually wearing today. Totally love it! Would never have put together without the blog post.

#2-4 are a few other ideas that popped to mind when reading the blog post (esp. examples #1 and #4), none of which are fully hashed out nor styled. When I bought the duster, I was expecting that it'd behave like gray in outfits but this morning was surprised to find it actually acts more like a fine black&white print! So I'd also love to try over a full column of white and maaaaayybe if I'm feeling it a column of black. Maybe. Also some olive. Also also some dresses.

Looking forward to playing with it some more and, as always, thanks for the awesome inspiration Angie! I will definitely be referring back to the blog post.

Aida, these are great outfits on you! I especially love 2 and 3.

Also, I'm just amazed at those shoes in #1 still going strong! They were YLF favourites around the time I joined and they still look great on you!

Aida, you look casually glamourous as you always do ... Love this duster on you and all the looks you created.

  • Janet replied 6 years ago

Aida! So nice to see you. You wear that duster so well. These all look great. I like the unexpected proportions of the culottes with it.

  • Murph11 replied 6 years ago

Love this with the pink! Beautiful and Inspirational, Aida!

  • Jjsloane replied 6 years ago

I might have to dub you Queen of the Duster! They all look good to me. I'm not normally a culottes person, but this looks amazing with yours.

  • Jenn replied 6 years ago

Looks great! I think #3 with the culottes is my favorite, and I bet the texture of this is even better in person.

  • Bonnie replied 6 years ago

Great  outfits! My favorite version is #1 with the pale blue top and olive pants. That's one combo I would have never thought of and it looks beautiful together.

  • jussie replied 6 years ago

These look great. My personal favorite is the black culottes, just because they bookend your hair :) .

  • delurked replied 6 years ago

I like a lot. My fave is prob 1 due to my love of aqua. I like the trim pants as a counterpoint to the volume of the topper. However, I find the culotte one interesting, and one that could grow on me.

I am so into speckled black and white right now! Your outfits show how versatile it can be.

  • Joy replied 6 years ago

You are an inspiration! 1 & 3 are my favorite looks. And I am mesmerized by your fit bit cuff.

  • chouette22 replied 6 years ago

Don't you ever look fab! All outfits are smashing and I still have those shoes in #1 as well. Such a classic shape.

  • Bijou replied 6 years ago

Your cardigan duster is a great piece and has been perfectly styled. It is such a treat to see you post and I am always wowed by your use of colour.

  • Kari replied 6 years ago

Aida, I too am amazed and tickled to see those shoes! Talk about a YLF classic item.
I love this. So versatile as always from you! Now I want to pair my duster with culottes ;)

  • Runcarla replied 6 years ago

Wow! Hard to get past #1. Love the subtlety of the colour combination.

  • Angie replied 6 years ago

A petite who wears dusters to perfection - and with flats. You ALWAYS look fabulous, sweet Aida. Miss you. Much love to you.

(Spellcheck kept on wanting to change Aida to AIDS :) )

  • Jaime replied 6 years ago

So nice to see you Aida! The duster you are wearing looks so splendid and structured on you - better than the model. I would normally avoid a piece like that because it would look too unstructured but somehow it looks positively architectural on you (great shoulder line helps!). #3 might be my favorite but they all work beautifully.

  • Sal replied 6 years ago

You have four great looks here showing how a third piece can create drama and interest. I think 1 is my favourite but they all work.

I could also see it over a column of colour and even over a dress.

You do create beautiful cololour combinations.

  • Aida replied 6 years ago

Thank you all so much! And thanks especially for the color combo compliments :D Nice to hear love for the culottes take, I will definitely be wearing some version of that soon since we have some warmer weathering coming.

Suz, Kari, and Chouette yesss these lovely little shooties are still going strong! They tend to wave in and out of favor which is probably why they've lasted so long.

Torontogirl, definitely into "casually glamourous" these days. Love that description, thanks for that! ^^

Jenn, as you know texture is one of my top priorities and YES this duster adds some instant interesting texture.

Joy, hah the gold FitBit cuff gets a lot of use. As does another rose gold band I've got. Those fancy bands allllmoooost make up for not wearing my proper watches. Highly recommend!

Angie, Thank youuuu xoxo I have the same problem with spellcheck ;)

Jaime, good thought on the shoulder line adding back some architectural drape.

Love all these looks so much I can not pick one. Love length of duster- perfect.

  • Angie replied 6 years ago

Can't wait to hug you in June. xo

  • replied 6 years ago

Wow - all 4 versions are great, but I have special love for the culotte outfit. So striking with the high contrast, and sharp edges.  Really, really nice.

  • Aida replied 6 years ago

    Thank you, efbgen!

Angie, meee tooo! Meetups are the BEST :D

Lisa, I think my favorite part about the culottes outfit is that even though it's high contrast and has those sharp edges, everything is so soft to wear.

  • CocoLion replied 6 years ago

I've been wondering how I can pull this look off, as I'm afraid as a petite it will overwhelm me.  You pull this off masterfully and motivate me.  I love #1 the best with the effective mix of warm (pants) and cool tones.

  • Aida replied 6 years ago

Thanks Denise! I can see you rocking this look, you've got some good dramatic cardis for it don't you? Slim bottoms and lower contrast helps with length if there's no heels. Thanks also for the color compliment. I loooove mixing warm and cool colors!

  • Mirjana replied 6 years ago

I am little late, Aida all outfits are fantastic you look extraordinary, I can't choice favorite. As I am petite you inspired me to try lovely Aida.

  • cindysmith replied 6 years ago

That first one is so pretty. Fresh and tranquil and very well done. I also love the last one, that pink just pops like mad!

  • rachylou replied 6 years ago

Fab duster! I love the way you’ve styled it, esp your colour choices.

  • anchie replied 6 years ago

Great look. I could never tell that you are petite, I was surprised to read that. Wander if long cardigan can be worn in place of duster?

  • Lynn replied 6 years ago

These are all great Aida.  You look fab in all of them. My favs are # 1 and #3

  • Aida replied 6 years ago

    Thank you ladies!

Mirjana, I hope you do try! I can see you rocking this look especially with a crisper duster.

Anchie, yes I think a long cardigan would certainly work (that's effectively what this is, anyway), especially if it's something knee length so you still get all the drama.
