WIW for various YLF meetups

Over the last month I was lucky enough to be part of four different YLF meetups! Trying to settle on an outfit for one is hard enough, especially if shopping is in order; I like to dress much more simply for shopping, hair down, and always with pants -- all of which limit how clever an outfit can be -- and of course, there will be lots of walking. This used to be a tall order for me but, between having been to several meetups so I know what to expect and working hard to convert the bulk of my shoes to walking shoes over the past two years, I was happy with all of the outfits I came up with. And I was so thrilled to be able to meet so many forum members :D

#2/3, 06.28 [other posts: 1 | 2 | 3]
Seattle Meetup (brunch + shopping downtown)
Considerations: Shopping, lots of (fast paced) walking, possibility of rain.
This outfit started with the shoes (good for walking) and jeans (a requirement for clothes shopping). Chose the breezy linen baseball tee because it would help keep me cool while I dashed around the shops. Semi-tucked with a white perforated belt to play up the sporty vibe, and accessorized with lots of gold (earrings, rings, clutch) and cherry pink lip gloss.

#4/5, 07.16 [other posts: 1 | 2]
Hanging out with Diana, then dinner with Anna and Jenava
Considerations: Lots of walking, spending time outside on a very hot day.
The temperature was the primary driving force behind this. Initially I had an outfit planned similar to this one, but changed my mind that morning and instead went with a hybrid of these two [1 | 2] outfits. And we did end up spending nearly the entire day outside so I was sooooo glad to have gone with loose, breezy, and lots of skin! Without any shopping planned, I put my hair up and did the front extra big especially for Anna ^^ Better-than-nude lip balm so that I wouldn't have to worry about reapplying often.

#6/7, 07.18 [other posts: 1]
Meeting Shevia (coffee + Pike Place/waterfront stroll)
Considerations: Moderate amount of walking.
Jaime and I hadn't finalized our plans and would only have a couple hours, so I decided to wear something slouchy and texture rich in honor of her fabulous style -- a breezy open-weave sweater and linen pants for slouch, and silver belt and shoes for structure. It was a delight to see her walk into the coffee shop where we met donning the same shoes! Styled my hair extra soft and curly, and accessorized with mixed metals (gold earrings, silver fox ring, rose gold watch) along with a swipe of sheer red lip color to keep the whole look from being too sandy.

Seattle Mini-Meetup (breakfast + shopping downtown)
Considerations: Shopping, lots of (fast paced) walking.
I wasn't feeling my best this day, but a cute outfit can sure help. So can giant gold hoops ^^ This one was actually a lot more unstructured feeling than I expected, and it took me a while to adjust to the feeling; I think it's the pants, after wearing them a few more times since then. It ended up being a bit too warm for the day, and I'm sure I surprised some of the gals by wearing flats ;)

Well. I saw the first and fourth outfit in person and Aida looked killer sensational as she always does. Plus her feet were happy. (Aida walked by my side at the speed of light for most of the gathering - so there is the proof). xo

Wow so this is what the pros wear for YLF meet ups! I'm looking forward to Shoptember and have no idea what to wear. This is very helpful! I love all of your outfits, not sure I can pick a favorite but I love the soft look of 2 with the loose curls and soft pastels. Your hair is so cute in 4 and great Dalmatian shoes!

  • jackiec replied 5 years ago

I was lucky enough to meet you in #4 and can vouch for the fab-ness of the outfit! In fact, I went straight home to look up that gorgeous white top - it is fantastic on you!!! If you weren't feeling great it definitely did not show. Every single one of these outfits is fab. What a wonderful Seattle hostess you are :)

Hey Aida! I remember those shorts from a fifth meet-up, if you want to get technical. :D
You look as cute as ever and I love that you can wear your hair up or down. Your fluffy bangs are adorable. I usually wear slip on shoes to shop in and these days I leave the belt off too. But you're obviously a pro and can manage to not only get in and out of the change rooms in a hurry, but also keep up with Angie. Great outfits, and lucky you for getting to meet so many fabbers!

I didn't know you weren't feeling fab, Aida. Tell me next time, and I'll take you under my wing. xo

  • abc replied 5 years ago

Your posts are so fun, informative and inspiring. Can't pick a favorite outfit!

  • Aida replied 5 years ago

    Thanks ladies :D

Angie, aw special thanks to you <3 Speed of light is a good unit of measurement for your walking pace ;) Saturday I was still in a bit of a strange place, but things are starting to feeling a bit more normal now. With the upheaval I wasn't feeling super and it spilled over to my physical feel and also to confidence in my outfit, though I quite like it in retrospect. Plus it's hard not to revert back to my usual chipper self around such a wonderful group of women, so I was very grateful to be able to spend the day with you gals.

Natalie, you know the main thing I've learned is that if I just wear my faves I can really enjoy the meetup without fidgeting or fretting. I can't wait to meet you, and to see what you're wearing ^^

Jackie, hah how fun! I'm sure it would look super on you. I am curious about how many, if any, YLFers got that sweater (I didn't see most of the NAS posts). The black looked really good and was tempting, but I couldn't pass up the white. And couldn't wait to wear it right away!

Claire, good memory! I thought of that too, actually that's why I turned to them for the heat -- I remembered that they worked sooo well in LA (though that was a more fall-ish look). I also usually skip belts and fussy shoes for clothes shopping, but I was specifically looking for tops so I figured it was OK to have a little fussiness on the bottom. Gotta look fab for the meetup, right!?

I agree with Natalie about the 'how to dress for a YLF meetup' outfits. You always look so good and these outfits are no exception.

  • goldenpig replied 5 years ago

Can't wait to meet you too Aida!

  • Karie replied 5 years ago

You look fabulous in each and every one of these outfits. It's soooo hard to pic a fav, but I'm going with #4 - super fun!

  • Thistle replied 5 years ago

You look amazing! I am especially smitten with #3.

  • shevia replied 5 years ago

Well as the lucky witness to outfit #3 I can only say that Aida is even more beautiful in person. And sweet and generous and smart as a whip. I am flattered that you chose your outfit with me in mind!
Aida, I love all your outfits as usual. Of course I am partial to the one I saw in person, but I am also impressed with your ability to wear short shorts and your choice of details throughout. It is the little things that make your outfits so outstanding.
I am attaching the outfit shot of us taken with our twin shoes, because I can!

  • catgirl replied 5 years ago

You all will love Aida!  And this is a lovely collection of Aida-mazing outfits as usual.  I love the perfect fit of all the items, whether fitted, slouchy, or fluid. :)

  • Diana replied 5 years ago

Well, having seen two of these outfits in person I can say for sure that they were super fab!  As is Aida, of course - I am jealous of all of you who will get to hang out with her at Inge-fest!  I couldn't have asked for a better shopping/touring/eating buddy while I was in Seattle.  =)

  • Firecracker replied 5 years ago

Aida, you always look fab and even moreso in person, if that's possible. I have to say your shevia-inspired look is my favorite here. It is just so nicely put together--such a cool, chic, feminine look, and it's gorgeous on you.

  • AJ replied 5 years ago

All wonderful outfits and I recognized the shorts from the LA trip! My favorite is #3. I just love the soft vibe of the whole outfit.

I'm curious...why are pants your personal requirement for shopping? I usually enjoy wearing skirts when I shop.

  • CocoLion replied 5 years ago

Thank you for posting these.  Not only are they beautiful outfits (your Shevia meeting outfit made my heart skip a beat!), but it's also so helpful to see how to dress for a YLF meet up in Seattle!  Which outfit is closest to what you'd wear in late September for IngeFest?

  • replied 5 years ago

Ha! Denise, I'm looking for tips re-meet ups too :) I'm hoping to get the walking shoes part sorted above all. Aida, you look amazing as always. It's a treat to see so many of your fab outfits in one post. The outfits in #4 and #6 are my favourites. I do love those shorts on you and the fluid knit in #6 is lovely.

  • Mona replied 5 years ago

Your outfits are a treat to see as always, Aida. I love how you explain the small details too. These details make the outfits super fun to watch. You do white and slouchy really well.
I have favourited this post for pointers on how to dress up for the meetup in the hopes that I will attend one of these meetups in near future.

  • Angie replied 5 years ago

(((HUGS))). The change of pace in hubs' life is unsettling isn't it? I wish you and him lots of luck, and hang in there. xo

  • Aida replied 5 years ago

Oh wow thank you all so much for the lovely and sweet comments, especially from those who I saw during these meetups! You ladies sure know how to perk a gal's day up ^^

Jaime, yay thanks for adding the photo of us, it makes me happy to see and think about our waterfront time. Blueberries will always be more special now <3

Una, special thanks on the fit comment. I have been struggling a bit over my fits these days. Which one do I want, would be best for a particular item? Do I have too many of x/y/z fit? Glad to hear that it's paying off, even if it gives me *ahem* fits ;)

AJ, I like to shop in pants because I primarily wear shorts/pants, and every time I've shopped in a skirt inevitably the top(s) I get are too short! I have a proportionally long torso so I have to be very diligent about lengths. Really though, if I'm looking for something for skirts/dresses then I shop in those things, if general shopping then it's pants/shorts all the way.

Denise and Diana, the weather at the end of Sept. can either be quite warm or getting cool, but usually dry-ish. Any of the above outfits would work in late September BUT I'd probably be swapping the footwear for boots, and perhaps adding a scarf for extra warmth. I don't have access to my 2013 outfit photos any more, but here's what I wore that week in 2012 as an idea.

  • Caro in Oz replied 5 years ago

These are all fantastic so really hard to pick a favourite - I do love the shorts on you though :)

  • annagybe replied 5 years ago

I think the third one is my favorite.

  • Firecracker replied 5 years ago

Oh my gosh, Aida, I just looked at your week's photos from 2012. I love the tall boots and shorts outfit! I so want to copy that. But I don't have any of it. I thought, gee, I could wear my new olive boots with shorts. Except I think what works so beautifully in your outfit is the nude tone of the boots. Awesome. Sorry to sidetrack. . . .
