WIW [favorites: April/May]

I hope you gals don't mind indulging me with a photo-heavy post so I can get these outfits in my YLF blog :) These are my favorite work outfits from April and May, excluding this week which I'll (hopefully) post tomorrow. Unfortunately I don't have time to do up my usual editing and collages, so I'm just including an image or two per outfit; please pardon the color/contrast inconsistencies and occasional wind-related blurriness.

Not going to write about each look, but here's a quick rundown of "newer" (SS15, FW14) items. I've also put these Finds, and anything still available, first:

  • Red printed hi-low tank (SS15)
  • Rose gold sparkle sweater (SS15)
  • Faux-leather capris (SS15, wildcard and totally love 'em)
  • Black pleated trousers (SS15, gift from the lovely Claire)
  • Blue watercolor dress (SS15)
  • Dalmatian pointy flats (SS15)
  • Navy floral sweater (FW14)
  • Dark plaid skinnies (FW14, from Suz though YLF this season)
  • Cream block-heeled booties (FW14)
  • Leo clutch (FW14)

Everything else is older, and actually a pretty good representation of the all-season items that are currently in my wardrobe. Even though these outfits are all prior to my recent closet edit, everything here remains in my wardrobe -- probably a big factor for why these looks were faves. I'd basically been wearing items from the edited section already, but having the excess cleaned up helps quite a bit! I've been repeating a lot more (for those who know me, that's a big shift), both entire and partial outfits; several of these have been worn a couple times now. (#3, 6, 12, 14, and 17 were in the running to wear to the meetup if the actual outfit I wore didn't work out.)

I've also been strict with myself about keeping in mind my findings on Collection ROG Aida and where my style is headed and, coupled with the closet edit, I've since been feeling much happier with my outfits.

Comments, critiques, thoughts and questions welcome!

EDIT to future selves: I've since added a "header" photo so these are
easy for me to spot when searching for outfits; so don't forget that
all number references are shifted by one!

These are all great, but I really love 3, 6, and 8! The mix of patterns in 6 is especially fun.

What a delightful way to start the morning! These are all fab so I am just going to mention some things that struck me.
#9 is an excellent illustration how skin tone shoes work with cropped trousers
#14 I love that dress on you. My raw edge culottes are from Monki - a brand to watch.
Your white booties add a lot of character to your outfits.
You look gorgeous in light blue.
I truly can't pick favorites because these outfits are all so good, and suit different moods.
(And when I see you I always think of blueberries.)

This is a great collection of outfits. It's so interesting to read about what you learned about your style from the ROG and its use of your aspirational pieces. I can see a slight shift but probably wouldn't have been able to describe as you have.
A few things that caught my eye in this totally winning set of looks:
The cool furry scarf in 1--how fun!
Your signature plaid on plaid in 2 and 6--you are the plaid-mix-mistress!
Love the drapey, pleated, tapered trousers in 7 and 12!
And the fact that you wear them just as beautifully as you do the cropped faux-leather skinnies!
Dresses! in 8 and 14. You look fab in them.
And layers over leggings in 15--squeeee (as they say here on the forum)! A look after my own heart. You look adorable in it.
If I were to pick a favorite (but I'm not--it's too hard) it might be 16: simple, bold, and looks fantastic on you.

Delighted, thanx for posting these! So much to study and contemplate, all are fab, but would only point out nr 15, is that a skirt or a dress underneath the tunic sweater? Great idea, and suits you to a tee:-)

ETA: My finds, are also just  fantasy(I cannot shop any of those brands here in the eu) so thanx for the link, I missed that thread entirely. Now will go mulling over, as  full of science to me-great idea with ROGmefantasy:-)

I don't know how I missed the post on where your style is headed, but I will definitely go back and take a look at it. I've been doing a HUGE closet edit too - the biggest in my closet's history, which I plan on posting about at some point in the future.

So as I was clicking through your outfits, I kept saying, "This is my favorite" - next outfit - "OK, this is my fav" - next outfit - "Oh I love this one too!" - you get the idea. I love them all, with a loud shout-out to the double plaid in #2, that one is super fun.

You look so good in icy pastels and bright bright bright.
I don't know where you work but I would be waiting everyday to see what you came up with, with interest!

  • Elizabeth P replied 8 years ago

Well, I'm not picking a favourite either, but just wanted to say that a pic heavy post from you is quite a treat!  You manage to pull of many silhouettes, well.  Which is great to see, as I also like to vary mine.

Totally in love with the new red blouse (that you wore to the meet up).  No chance that is available is there?  I don't see it in the finds... :(

I also have those pleather shorts/capri's (as does Jackie) ... aren't they awesome!  I have yet to wear them - the weather here is just so messed up - but I have a bunch of outfits lined up and waiting.  So, waving!!

I missed the ROG Aida post, so will go off to read that now. I'm
quite interested to see how what you discovered compares with the
    collection here.

Oooooh, Aida, it is so great to see you post a batch of outfits! What a treat! I love them all. Congrats on the closet edit. I'm there too, and it feels good. I am noticing a sleeker silhouette overall with these outfits (on the most part). I was in love with the outfit you wore to the meetup. That long tank under the jacket was spectacular. I thought to myself, of course Aida is in orange! I loved it!! But you mentioned it was red? Was it an orangey red? Nonetheless I love the tank and see it again here. The jacket is fantastic over the crisp black and white stripes as well. I haven't worn my pleather crops once yet this year? Can you believe it? I better pull 'em out. They look awesome on you. I could wax on forever. I so love your style and analysis. All your new stuff for SS15 seems perfect. Love seeing them in action.

All fabulous outfits, Aida, but I can't take my eyes off that lovely red jacket - 6 and 16.

  • donnat replied 8 years ago

Yes, I did what Karie did, as I looked at each picture I thought , that's my favorite, then the next one, no that's my favorite. Great group of looks.

  • Tanya replied 8 years ago

So many lovely outfits, what a treat!  As much as I have tried, it was impossible to pick favorites as all are amazing.  Love that plaid tank top and red jacket, and you look wonderful in pastels.

  • replied 8 years ago

Ooh, lots of purty pictures! Some fabulous outfits. A few stand outs for me are 1,3,4, 6,10, 13,16.

I love the new bright red jacket and those pleather cropped pants look great too..nice proportions created by the capri length. I also love how you often echo the lightness of your skin tone in your outfits, or contrast with it for  more drama, though I think your lovely hair always adds a touch of drama too. There's some really nice pattern mixing and our earrings and great clutches add some lovely interest as well.

Love all these pics - hard to pick favorites but I really like #1 quite a lot, then #4, 9, 13, 14, 17 - okay, so  they are all fab! I especially love it when you wear light toned shoes I  guess.

  • Diana replied 8 years ago

So many amazing outfits, I can't pick a favorite!  I really love the double plaid in #2, the gorgeous soft pastels in #3, both outfits with the new red print tank (#4 and #6) and #8 is so cute and fun and sporty.  You are really rocking the red this spring!

  • tulle replied 8 years ago

What an assortment of great looks!  And you get such an interesting difference depending on whether your hair is slicked up or down and tousled. If I had to pick just one, I think it would be #7, because you look so fresh and pretty in those drapey pants and periwinkle ikat blouse--nice how the uncluttered neckline shows off your beautiful throat.

  • Windchime replied 8 years ago

Agreeing with Elizabeth P that a pic heavy post from you is a real treat! I love your furry scarf in #1; your coral shirt and jacket in #3; your dress in #14, and the various lengths and styles of pants you are wearing. Okay, I love all of it!

  • Debora replied 8 years ago

Every one is a winner, Aida. I especially love your red jacket and the dress in #14. You look so pretty in blue. The blush jacket is super flattering too with your coloring. You are an inspiration, as always.

  • Carole replied 8 years ago

I love your WIW's Aida...your outfits are so fun and interesting and you are an expert pattern mixer and Accessorizer. Well done. Thanks for the visual candy today!

  • catgirl replied 8 years ago

WOW WOW WOW!  Love a slew of Aida outfits!  It's interesting once again to see how the same items fit us differently.  Those pleather capris were a disaster on me, but the plaid Kuts (in the same size!) look pretty similar.  I adore the hi-low and cropped over longer looks here so much.  And for some reason 17 jumped out at me, maybe because I'm not seeing you in jeans as much.  These are very cohesive in color generally, and the plaid mixing is too much fun.  XO

  • Angie replied 8 years ago

SOOOOO fun seeing your killer style on YLF again, Aida. I missed you sooooo much. I'm loving your hectic pattern mixing. You are very creative and confidant - you lucky lass.

I'm going with #2, 3, 4 and 14 as my faves. Those are extra killer. But each outfit is a visual delight. And your smile and stellar attitude is the stylish cherry on top. Thanks for sharing.
