WIW [early may]

In the spirit of getting back to posting outfits, here's what I've worn to work so far this month. Not sure I can consistently do full weeks like this but I'll do my best to share at least some! Friday May 5th previously posted here (the denim-on-denim outfit in the summary image).

As is customary for spring in the Pacific Northwest, the weather has
been all over the place, primarily cool with plenty of wind+rain, and only recently a couple warmer days sprinkled in. Nothing new here -- continuing to wear old favorite outfits along with new pairings to try and keep things feeling fresh. Very happy to finally be able to work in more of my spring/summer pieces ^^

So great to see you posting again Aida. I always love seeing your WIWs. So stylish and fresh. These seem perhaps more simple or minimal than I think of as your style, but maybe that's just the warming weather and the decreased need for toppers and scarves. Or is it a shift? Either way, it's working

    LOVE the new haircut!

  • Aida replied 6 years ago

Thanks Elizabeth! Yes definitely more minimal, a somewhat temporary shift as my wardrobe doesn't layer well at the moment. Really working the "Minimally Maximal" part of my style, heh. I still feel my best in lots of pattern and/or color, so do my best to incorporate them. But the overall outfits, the components which make them up, are definitely simplified for now. Had a giggle about the hair -- It is photographing wonderfully but sooooo overdue for a cut (I'm going tomorrow) and has been driving me bonkers :D

    Very nice Aida. I especially like 6, 9 & 10.

  • Jenn replied 6 years ago

It's lovely to see your collages again, Aida! I really enjoy how you manage to play with so many different silhouettes while still always looking like yourself!

  • SarahTheWhite replied 6 years ago

I always love how texture-rich your outfits are, and it is really fun to see them all together... You also have such interesting and cool accessories! Thank you for sharing. I'm loving all the great ideas. :-)

  • Karie replied 6 years ago

Very nice! My favorites are #2 and #4, because both pairs of pants look so dang comfortable! I'm liking loose-fitting, comfy pants at the moment.

  • Mirjana replied 6 years ago

Great collages Aida and very nice to have you back with so lovely outfits. I especially love #7 and #8 both dresses are wonderful on you and for me your new silhouette as I didn't see you in dress.

  • Bijou replied 6 years ago

So hard to pick a favourite - but I do love your hat in #9 and I love the swallow sweater too. It is such a treat to see you posting your outfits again.

  • Summer replied 6 years ago

Gorgeous outfits as usual, Aida.  You manage to achieve so much variety from your wardrobe.
    Love the dresses.

  • Brooklyn replied 6 years ago

Great to see you back Aida. Fabulous as usual. I so enjoy the variety of your outfits. I can't pick a favourite. Well, maybe the first one because I do love a tonal look. I hope all is well with you :)

I always enjoy your posts, your outfits are creative and fun!

  • Janet replied 6 years ago

Fun to see you posting your outfits again! My favorite is #9. :-)

  • JAileen replied 6 years ago

I'm glad to see your posts again. I love the outfit with the birds, and both dresses.

  • Dianna replied 6 years ago

Nice outfits, my favorites are 5, 7, and 9.

  • Jaime replied 6 years ago

I love 10, both dresses and basicly all of them. I recently bought a pair of older khaki pants that are very similar to the ones in 4 so that one jumped out also. I still have the shoes in 6 too - I believe I lemoned them right off you!

  • Aquamarine replied 6 years ago

They are all fab, but I'm especially drawn to the first outfit with the hat. So fun!

  • Lisa replied 6 years ago

A full weeks worth of WIWs is a delight!  I'm in love with #4, the matchy matchy of teh colors is sublime and those pants look comfy, fun, and you are making me really want a pair.  I also am intrigued by the shorts in #5, because they look loose, but they are actual shorts.  I have the worst time fitting into short but always looked at denim and chino styles, this gives me a new style to search for.  And #9, a pair of leather-ish pants is going on my fall shopping list.  I always enjoy your WIWs!

  • Aida replied 6 years ago

Thanks sooo much ladies! Posting outfits to YLF is like getting a big group hug :D

Mirjana, yes I definitely wear pants/shorts more often! For years I'd been buying skirts over dresses thinking the mix-and-match was better for me, but have more recently realized that my skirts tend to go unworn while my dresses DO get worn. So I've gradually been phasing many of my skirts out and replacing with dresses.

Jaime, hah and I think we both stole those flats right off of Tanya. One of my favorite pairs of shoes! I should probably get a second pair that serves a similar function to help these last longer.

Lisa, thanks for the extra detailed comment. The shorts in #5 are soooo great to wear especially when it's hot. They're pleated and kind of bucket shaped, if that helps. Managed to find a stock photo out in the ether though it's not very high res. And I can see leather-ish pants working really well for you! These are waxed denim which are quite easy to care for.

  • Sara L. replied 6 years ago

I love those shorts as well! Such a great color and style. I also that swallow top.i love black and white patterns and need to focus on them when I shop. Thanks for posting-shoes always enjoy your outfits.

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 6 years ago

These are all so cool, Aida. I enjoy your outfits because they are so different looking and yet coherent, all very you. There's an outfit, #5, in the first group that is missing in the details, which has a really neat 70s vibe that I like on you.

  • Aida replied 6 years ago

    Thanks Sara and Sharan!

Sara, you look super in those high contrast black/white outfits, I can definitely see why you're drawn to them.

Sharan, I posted the 70s denim-on-denim outfit already so I didn't want to include it again. I don't think I'll ever entirely drop the 70s from my style, seems to really be strongly wired in there ^^

  • Angie replied 6 years ago

FABULOUS all round as always. I'm assuming you had a topper - it's been chilly.

I'm going with #10 as my favourite. Modern Retro.

  • Angie replied 6 years ago

SO NICE TO SEE YOU POST AGAIN. We'll take one outfit a week if that's all you can manage.

  • Aida replied 6 years ago

Hah thanks Angie! It is nice to post again, I've missed my YLF gals <3 Don't worry on the topper -- the cream trench (in #2) has been with me most days but I just got tired of photographing it ;) Also sometimes my orange plaid coat. Was lovely those few warm days last week though, wasn't it! I'll try to post one or two outfits a week, should be able to manage that.

  • lyn67 replied 6 years ago

Loved to see you again, Aida! All great inspirations here, wow!   My faves are nr 5 (shorts with booties!!-wow! I could never do it right:-(() and nr. 9 (lightening up black leather pants for Spring, wow so yummy!).

  • Angie replied 6 years ago

Phew. Good to know you're wrapping up. Better weather from tomorrow onwards.

  • texstyle replied 6 years ago

Love these posts -- 5,6, 8 and 10 are probably my personal favorites because I love jeans and shorts. And I really like light jeans on you in particular with your dark hair.

  • rachylou replied 6 years ago

    Just great style!

  • Aida replied 6 years ago

    Thanks Lyn, Texstyle, and Rachy!

Tex, interesting about the lighter jeans particularly since most people tend to favor dark. I also prefer myself in them (although black skinnies will always have a place in my wardrobe). Definitely prefer to skew lighter which highlights my hair!

  • Sal replied 6 years ago

Lovely to see these looks.  My picks are 2, 5, 8, 9, 10.

I love the way you wear the black skinnies, they do have a retro edge.  And the denim on denim is great because it is not at all "Western Tuxedo".

Do you wear sneakers Aida?  I could see a pair working so well with the first look.

I love the fit on the shorts too, and the colour is great, very sophisticated.  The fit on these (Which I think you wore last summer) was the inspiration for a new pair for me last season.

  • Aida replied 6 years ago

Thank you for the lovely detailed comment Sal. I don't wear sneakers often, primarily for active weekend days so they're a bit grubby. Now that warmer weather is around the corner I'm sure my sneakers will get pulled out more often. I did post some summer looks last year which show them in action but they are definitely not my first choice ;) I think some of those leather sneaks could be fun with #1 if I ever got ahold of such a thing! FUN that you got a pair of shorts similar to these, they are soooo comfortable on hot days. Did you enjoy wearing them?

  • Sal replied 6 years ago

Thanks Aida.  I did enjoy wearing them.  On me I wore them mostly with pointy flat loafers and a black knit vest/tank as per this post.

    https://youlookfab.com/welookf.....patterns-1

I think you tend to more dressy footwear so I can see why sneakers are not your first choice.

  • Aida replied 6 years ago

Oh those look fab! So fun paired with the black printed top and nude footwear, I'm all over that look ^^ Can see those also being worn with a breezy cotton top and low-profile sneaks or slip-ons. I'm definitely a sucker for dainty, pretty shoes -- which tends to be troublesome when I actually need to wear something more "rugged" like sneakers! I'm slowly making the adjustment, heh.

  • Beth Ann replied 6 years ago

So good to see you, Aida!  I'm loving you in a hat, and with the great bird sweater and the shorts, particularly!  I do love a novelty print that is also elegant, and the bird sweater exceeds the standard!

  • Momo replied 6 years ago

Very nice :-) 9 is awesome!

  • replied 6 years ago

Gorgeous ouitfits Aida! I've been so used to Instagram lately that I'm itching to use some emojis here :D  Lots of heart eyes...hehe!
