I know we're into spring but I've still got some winter outfits waiting to post to my YLF blog, hope you gals don't mind! These are work outfits from the first two weeks of January.
#1- Tonal dark look with a new mixed-media moto that I picked up in December at the YLF Seattle meetup; Angie suggested to size up for a looser more contemporary fit, and while I'm not fully adjusted to oversized jackets I've been slowly coming around. Chose the green sweater to pick up on the green in the jacket's tweed, and it doesn't show well but I've also got a sparkly black layer underneath the green sweater.
#2- A dry (but icy) day so the long hems came out to play; outfit planned around the thought to pair cobalt and leopard. I've found this blouse gets layered over more than not, but that could be because I bought it in winter time ;) Worn with a little extra glamour for a trip to the dentist; my hygienist always likes to chat about my outfit! I wore nude lipstick, but would have been happier with something brighter. Probably red.
#3- Copycat of one of Jonesy's outfits, which I don't think is online any more. Loved the juxtaposition of the very casual plaid shirt with a pencil skirt, and have plans to wear a variation of this again. "Light" footwear to echo exposed skin bits and lighten the whole look up a little; also soft pink lipstick to keep the top half looking more natural, while the bottom is more dressy (and also quite textured though it doesn't show well; those are ribbed sweater tights and fuzzy wool covered heels).
#4- Feeling some YLF love this week; this day I'm wearing Zap's furry vest received by way of Rita. Paired with white jeans and a whole host of light neutrals. Thoroughly enjoyed wearing my white jeans throughout this past winter, though I didn't wear them as much as I should've based on that feeling. This base was one of my favorite pairings; I quite like the creamy shades of the sweater/boots with the crisp white jeans.
#5- A favorite pairing of this turtleneck and jacket, with some more YLF love: the cute little (working!) clutch necklace from the YLF Secret Santa exchange (cheers to BJ). Ultra textured outfit, especially the bottom half. Chose light outerwear to counter the dark innerwear.
#6- I seem to have continual trouble styling this boxy blouse; in many ways it is awkward and fights my shape, but I guess I find it a fun kind of challenge? Normally worn for spring/summer, winterized here with a thick layering tee (must have been warm that day), baggy skinny jeans, and shooties. Featuring one of the pretty pairs of earrings that accompanied the necklace in #5 from Santa.
#7- Bonus manicure photo since I don't usually post them (see I do the fun stuff Una, I swear!). Seahawks playoff mani utilizing a made-by-me topcoat called "Shades of Cascadia" which has various blue, green, and silver glitters, over a free-handed colorblocked base. Seen in outfits #4-6 (and some weekend/travel outfits I'll be posting later).

I particularly love 1 and 5, the way you have combined the tonal colors. -

rae replied 11 years agoAh, I think I missed you acquiring the furry vest - huzzah! Great with the white jeans. Very Snow Bunny, as DH would say. And I always love the emerald bag. It is such a nice punch with the variety of outfits you've shown (I totally regret not snagging one). Also super fun to see you sporting cool nails like the ones you Pin. :D

And you just had me with the white jeans in #4.

Beth Ann replied 11 years agoLoving #1 (and think I might try a copy) and #5 -- I can enjoy winter shorts vicariously through you!

Aida replied 11 years agoThanks for the comments ladies, I really appreciate them!
Rae, maybe the tote will be released again this summer? It came in so many delicious colors and they all seemed to go pretty quick.
Angie, aw thank youuu <3 I'm still not 100% come around on oversized jackets on myself but I do have a couple now so I'm just going to work right on through that :) I'm planning to wear the mixed moto with my white jeans today, hopefully it works as well as it does in my head. I think this week is going to end up with daily whites, again!
Beth Ann, would love to see your take on #1! I'm planning to wear a variation of it today. -
Charmian replied 11 years agoIt's a bit funny that you claim to have the most problems with the boxy blouse in #6, since that's the one that sings the most to me. You know I'm all about the graphics, and that's where I'd typically be all over it ... but it's the textures that get me here; I love seeing a flowy blouse in winter.
Love love LOVE the plaid shirt with pencil skirt!

Deborah replied 11 years agoAida I don't mind you catching up on posting outfits at all... infact I love it when you post :) I really do like your 70's vibe, it really works and you are so creative in how you put your pieces together. I am constantly inspired, as I would never think of some of the combinations you do.
The jacket in #1 is just fabulous and I you rock shorts in winter like no one I know. -
Sona replied 11 years agoas always each outfit is fab and so Aida-tastic. I especially love #5- you do winter shorts like no one else!

Aida replied 11 years agoThank you all for the comments! Thanks also for the compliments on the manicure, I'm still learning and improving my nail art skills. I don't usually show my nails here (I was posing them when I was keeping up on my blog, alas very behind now), but I could share some of the more fun manicures from time to time :)
Hannah, I hear you on the flowy fabrics in winter, at least our mild weather is good for something! The graphic print of the blouse in #6 is one of the main reasons it still has a home in my wardrobe despite its difficult shape. -
catgirl replied 11 years agoWe are not into spring at all here - we're expecting more feet of snow this weekend, although it's a springlike day today!
You look fantastic - love the emerald bag, of course, and the first outfit is my favorite, along with the SHORTS!
Yes! I expect to see more nail photos! -
replied 11 years agoAida, it's always such fun to see your outfits. You have such a creative way of putting everything together! I love the boxy blouse, and kudos for styling it for cold weather. For summer, I'll bet it's a snap tucked into a high waisted pencil skirt. You know I love those handbags too. The emerald one is so much fun, and I love your blush 'Birkin'. ;)

replied 11 years agoI am so glad the furry vest ended up with you. It never saw the light of day in my closet. So adorable on you!
As for the rest.... You are on fire woman! -
Aida replied 11 years agoOh Una, FEET of snow projected? That's not even remotely springlike! Guess you'll be able to identify with the rest of my winter outfits ;) Thanks for the nail art nudge, I'm going to try the argyle this weekend!
Claire, would you believe that I haven't yet worn the boxy blouse tucked into a high-waisted pencil?? I've noted it to try it when the weather warms up (it'll look best unlayered with bare legs, I think). Thank you ^^
Zap, thanks! I know most people wear their furry vests in winter, but I like to wear mine more in spring/summer (plays well with my boho side). We'll be seeing it more often now that it's warming up :) -
Kiwichik replied 11 years agoSeeing your posts is like my favourite magazine arriving in the mail - I love your style & as we head into Winter here in kiwiland seeing your January outfits is perfect inspiration.

Marley replied 11 years ago#5 with that blazer is just FABulous! I love the color mix - and you know, the shorts with tights is one of my absolutely favorite looks on you. Thank you for sharing these Aida! Love them! (Oh, and the mani is perfect!)
