WIW 12.07 (*waves*)

Hi everyone! Apologies for being MIA the last couple weeks (November is my busiest month), I hope you all had a fabulous Thanksgiving. Things have somewhat calmed down for me so I thought I'd post a WIW to remind you all what I look like ;) Okay-okay.. I just haven't posted a WIW in quite a long while tee hee! (And I promise to get caught up on my blog soon!) I missed you guys <3

I thought this would be fun for the Seattle meet-up this weekend, the navy+black+red feels nice and festive. But it's not the most efficient shopping outfit so I happily wore it today instead!

Comments, critiques, thoughts and questions welcome!

It's lovely to see you again, especially when you are looking so lovely! The jacket and coat are super fantabulous! And I am jealous of your jeans, which appear to be staying nice and skinny. (I recently had a sad bagging experience with skinnies and continue to smart about it.)

Welcome back Aida - we missed your fabulous WIW pics! You look fantastic in red - what a gorgeous outfit!

  • replied 8 years ago

Nice Aida! I love the red jacket on you and the coat is marv-y! Is that the necklace you bought in LA? Good to see your smilin' face again!

  • Angie replied 8 years ago

    KILLER red jacket!!!

  • Vicki replied 8 years ago

OH, WOW! The colors, the "camera look," the jeweled necklace, I'm in love with every photo in the collage and your coats are fantastic. The combination of navy, black and red is just amazing and you've opened a door for me, Aida. Your smile makes me miss you and I hope you have fun wherever your festivities take you. Wish I lived closer, so I could join in on the YLF one.

You look great! I need to get brave and try black and navy together.

I really look forward to meeting you Saturday. :)

  • greenglove replied 8 years ago

You are a beauty, so bold and classic but with a definite edge. You look like royalty!

  • Aida replied 8 years ago

Thanks so much ladies, it's great to be back :D

Suz, boo that's no fun. I've had that problem with some jeans as well. I do two things to help mitigate: I generally look for thicker and/or non-stretchy denim; it seems to hold shape much better, and lycra seems better than spandex (I could be wrong). For the thin stretchy denim that I DO have, I generally only wear 2-3 times then wash or they bag too much at the knees. And of course, wash inside-out with cold water and air dry always. I hope you find a great non-bagging pair!

Transcona Shannon, thanks! Would you believe I only have a handful of red items even though it's one of my favorite colors? ><

Claire, yep (this is the red blazer from LA, too)! This is actually the first time I've worn the necklace (I found it hiding in tissue).

Angie, thank you! I _ran_ into the store when I saw it hehe :D I may still wear it to the meetup, maybe with another shade of red? Hmmm *thinking thinking*

Vicki, aww you are so sweet, I can't wait to see you again so I can just give you a big hug <3 I think this color combo would work well with your PC goals, and ooh would also look lovely with some camel thrown in!

Brenda, yay! I'm so glad you'll be at the meetup, can't wait to meet you too. I have complete confidence that you can wear navy+black :)

Jean, thank you so much, I am very flattered!

  • JennyAnne replied 8 years ago

Wow! So pretty. The jacket and coat are both awesome!`

  • Janet replied 8 years ago

It's always a good day when Aida posts a WIW!

You look amazing in that red jacket. And count me as another who is inspired by that color combo.

  • Sveta replied 8 years ago

I was thinking where are you, Aida. It is so nice to have you back. This is a gorgeous jacket, just the right thing to cheer up a winter day!

  • Sheila replied 8 years ago

Aida, you really look so polished! I love everything you are wearing in this WIW. Well I have to say that I am really wistful at the thought of missing the upcoming Seattle meetup. I know it will be super-duper, especially if you're wearing this red jacket. It is definitely a winner!

  • Ana replied 8 years ago

Oh, I love this outfit, Aida! I've been eyeing that red jacket and I love how you styled it here. You look fabulous! Great pictures, too. : )

  • RandomThoughts (Andrea) replied 8 years ago

Super fab outfid, Aida. The red jacket is great and I love the transition from cool with the topper on, hot with it off. Neat! I've missed your posts. Have fun at the meetup this weekend!

I hope I can get some YLF good vibes sent my way - big show this weekend that I would LOVE to win. :D Break a leg, ladies!

  • lyn* replied 8 years ago

I love that red jacket on you! Your middle looks so small!

  • Deborah replied 8 years ago

Aida, I love the way you do your photos. The red jacket is stunning and I love the coat. Beautiful necklace too. I really appreciate how you create a young and funky look but also incorporate classic pieces (like the jacket and the necklace. You look great and it's lovely to see you back on the forum.

  • catgirl replied 8 years ago

So happy to see an Aida post! Is that the jacket you got in LA? It is absolutely stunning on you. Will have to visit your blog again now that you're updating... Missed you!

  • Fruitful replied 8 years ago

I love the Autumn feel of these pics Aida! The skinnies and skivvy (that's what we call "turtlenecks" but I've got a bad feeling it means undies where you are?) are timeless, being current and nodding to mod style - and could that coat be any more adorable on you? I love the illusion of shading the pattern creates, and the pleats on the hem!

  • Kristine replied 8 years ago

Beautiful!! I love the slightly classic look with an updated edge.

  • citygirldc replied 8 years ago

Looking great. The red is outstanding on you.

  • Sona replied 8 years ago

I have missed seeing you post here or on your blog. I really love the dark denim on you ( I've mostly seen you wear lighter shades on you)- with that red blazer especially it is a wonderful combination on you.

  • kimlee replied 8 years ago

Simply gorgeous, Aida. The color of the jacket is fantastic and I love the buttons on it!

  • morethanbeige replied 8 years ago

Great outfit! Love the red jacket. You look stunning.

  • kellygirl replied 8 years ago

((Waving)) You look SO amazing, Aida! The color pairing is brilliant and bold. And my goodness, you are looking uber chic and polished! What a gorgeous red jacket too--it's fab on you!

BTW, your comments about wearing the CH boots really resonated with me. I threw out my "go to" pair and am wearing my CH. The "go to" boots had a tear in the pleather so it was time : ) thx!

  • rae replied 8 years ago

Happy sigh... the world feels more "right" with Aida WIWs reappearing.

That is the Express jacket, yes? It looks even better than I remember! Love it with the tall boots, and your necklace is awesome!

  • amyreh replied 8 years ago

I love how the dark turtleneck really showcases the necklace and the red blazer is amazing!

  • MINI replied 8 years ago

omg, your red blazer looks sooooo cool!
It looks flamin' hot on you!

  • Aida replied 8 years ago

My goodness you ladies know how to welcome a gal back :D Thank you ALL for the wonderful comments and feedback. I'm glad so many of you found this color combo inspiring, this makes my day!

Sheila, I hope you can make it to the next meet up! I would love to get the chance to chat in person again :)

Ana, in case you do decide to get this jacket, I feel it runs a bit large; I had to size down 2 sizes for this snug fit, 1 size down would still fit but be a bit looser.

Andrea, ooh that is a great observation about the cool/hot! I think I've been doing this lately without realizing it, very nice to be able to identify exactly what it is that's drawing me; I love the idea of cool one way and hot the other. I will be sending you lots of good vibes for the show!

Deborah, thank you very much. You know, for a long time I really rebelled against most classic pieces but more recently I've definitely been drawn to finding ways to incorporate them into my outfits in a way that's true to me. Glad to hear it's working!

Una & Rae, yep this red pretty is the LA jacket. I've been on a random kick of not wanting to wear jackets/blazers for a couple weeks for some reason, but I must admit it was nice to wear one again :)

Sona, good call on the lighter pants. I do mood dress, so in cold weather especially I tend to dress very darkly. But honestly after my light-colors-only experiment this summer I think I'm actually happier in lighter colors. Last winter I had 2 dark corduroy pants so most of my bottoms were dark; but this year I just have the black pants and all the rest are light. I would love to get a pair of dark gray jeans!

Kelly, happy to hear that! I am sure they are looking just as spiffy with a few scuffs on 'em :D (Also I replied to your comment on my blog: winter walk shorts perhaps??)

  • Makrame replied 8 years ago

I just saw this post (spent all of yesterday in the airport and did not open my laptop) and just had to comment on the beautiful deep blue and red colors of this outfit! Love it!

  • Heather replied 8 years ago

HELLLLLOOOOOOOOOOO, AIIIIDDDDDAAAAAAAAA!!!!!! (say that aloud so it will feel like I really said it, k?)

LOVE that red blazer on you! Is that from EXP!?

  • wannabe replied 8 years ago

Great outfit pics. You always make it look so easy. I'm looking forward to your blog updates.

  • Aida replied 8 years ago

    Thanks Makrame, Heather, and wannabe!

Makrame, thanks! This seems like a color combination you could wear nicely as well. Hope your travel went smoothly!

Heather, the red blazer is indeed from Express (good eye!). I think it also comes in cobalt :)

wannabe, I have a whole month of backlogged photos to get up on the blog! Guess what I'll be doing this weekend? ^^
