WIW 11.24, 11.25 (Thanksgivings)

This year we hosted our 2nd annual Friends Thanksgiving (outfit #1) which was most excellent. My husband and I smoked the turkey, with all the food otherwise potluck. It was quite the party complete with spending time in the hot tub while snow fell, playing Xbox Kinect games, and having a Generally Fun Time with most guests sleeping the night over. The following day we went to my folks' for another Thanksgiving dinner (outfit #2).

The champagne sweater in #1 is my first dolman sleeved top (very new shape to me), and has lovely little sparkles running through it. I bought it with this event in mind, but I now plan to wear it on non-holiday days because I love it! The charcoal sweater in #2 is in my "maybe" pile, and is one of my few chunky knit sweaters; I'm still not 100% sold on it. Comments, critiques, thoughts and questions welcome.

Love the dolman sweater on you. The color is beautiful and I love the sparkles. Fab holiday outfit! I think you look great in outfit #2. I'm not a huge fan of aran style sweaters or turtlenecks but this one is fitted and works for you. Love how you do your photo collages--you're lovely!

I love the chunky knit on you, and love the red heels. Both sweaters are beautiful.

The dolman is fabulous. And I love your red pumps! They make your outfit so cheery.

Both outfits are lovely, but I especially like #2. You look beautiful in charcoal, and love the addition of red shoes!

Fabulous coat, Aida! Love the dolman sleeve pullover too! So nice to see you wear pearls.

And every lass needs a pair of red shoes :)

Lovely dolman sweater. That shade would not work on me but it looks good on you. I think it is completely fine to wear everyday as sparkle is very subtle.
I am not a fan of chunky knits though - I feel they do not flatter anybody but the slimmest gals. I would also wear a sheer sock or hose with these heels - beautiful heels BTW. I really like you necklace!

Both of these look fab, Aida! The dolman top in particular is so pretty on you! You could also try it with a long necklace with pendant next time.

I agree with Angie about the red shoes. I can't believe I don't own any!

Great dolman sweater, the shine is subtle perfect for everyday wear, going to be a versatile piece! The gray sweater looks nice and cozy.

I really like both sweaters. I'd keep #2 for warm winter wear for sure. Love the necklace in #2.

Beautiful, Aida! That dolman sweater fits you to perfection. Love the necklace and those red shoes!

The champagne sweater is very festive and it sounds like you had a wonderful time. I quite like the chunky charcoal sweater on you. It isn't boxy and I don't think it detracts from your shape at all. Love the red shoes! :-)

I really like both sweaters on you and, like Shana said, I think the dolman sweater would look great with a longer necklace too!

Thank you all for the lovely comments, I am blushing over here at work :)

I appreciate the thoughts on the charcoal sweater; I was on the fence about it because chunky knits are so hard to wear but I'm going to take it off the maybe pile. Though I am a little unsure of how to "style" it beyond what I did here. I'll open a thread up about this later, I think.

Sveta: Good thought about the hose. I need to pick up some knee high sheer socks as an option to wear with my heels, I've never really worn any. Would black and nude would be enough or are there other colors/shades I should look for?

Shana, Kate: I will definitely try a long necklace with the champagne sweater next time I wear it.

    I love both these outfits!!

I agree that a long necklace with sweater #1 will be ever more fab!

And I am a contrarian, I guess, because I really dug the opaque hose with the fab red pumps! LOL

I really liked the opague hose also. It made the outfit more playful.

  • Aida replied 13 years ago

There were two main reasons for the thicker hose: firstly I didn't want a clear break between my jean hem and feet (I loves me a long leg line), and also it was quite cold :)

  • MsMary replied 13 years ago

I think those are great reasons! And it looked sassy!! :)
