WIW 11.13, 15 (inspired by CocoLion and Annagybe copycat)

I'm not doing the full blogger challenge week, but here are my two outfits for the challenge from two of our own lovely YLF ladies! I highly enjoyed coming up with both outfits ^^ Both worn to work.

#1 - Inspired by CocoLion's style. I couldn't find an actual recent outfit that this was based on, but I have always liked how Denise wears longer almost-tunic length drapey tops over skinnies with awesome heels (perhaps this was more last season?). I think this cardigan has been breathed new life as a long drapey sweater; I quite like this silhouette even though it's incredibly waist surrendering, and don't really wear it often. Bonus: hubby liked it!

#2 - Copycat of this outfit of Annagybe's. I knew when I first saw it that I wanted to copy, but it proved harder than I expected! I don't wear blue skinnies nor have a black cardigan, so I swapped to black skinnies to cover both bases. And no chokers, so I opted for a bright red lip instead. I really like how soft Anna's outfit is which is lost in my version, so I am definitely going to try again in the future with a cardigan. (Also, my hair is extra crazy today which I felt was especially good timing with the messy tuck ^^)

Comments, critiques, thoughts and questions welcome!

Love the earrings in #1, and I think that look really suits you. I like the drapey texture of the sweater.

Awwww. I just LOVE it when YLF women copycat one another!

You look gorgeous in both of these. As did your inspirations.

You look great! r.e. Anna's outfit, I love all the blue, of course. but her boots are navy and her pants are light blue denim, so I think your black pants with black boots is kinda a good copy. Just wanted to add that I love her stripes with the plaid, so, maybe some sort of striped jacket or cardigan?

So pretty! I especially love the half-tuck with the plaid shirt - very cool and of the moment.

I really love your interpretation of the outfits Aida.

  • Aida replied 11 years ago

Thanks ladies! It was fun channeling these two stylish lasses for a day :)

Jenava, you are definitely right about those stripes. That's one of my favorite parts of Anna's outfit, but I think the only striped topper I have is that same cardigan in the other outfit! When I wear it next I'll give it a go for sure.

I don't see the first one as waist surrendering at all. I think it is because you have such a defined waist this works so well - you give the sweater shape. Anyway, I really like this. And that blue is dynamite on you. Gorgeous!

I like both but really love the first look :-)

  • Aida replied 11 years ago

    Thanks Shevia and Kirti!

Shevia, interesting thought on the 'waist surrendering' for #1. I've never thought of it on that way. It still _feels_ waist surrendering because of the volume but I suppose it doesn't actually make my shape look straight.

You pull off the half-tuck brilliantly! It can look wonky. But on you, it's cool, like a J Crew model.

I am so flattered to inspire your outfit in #1. Yes I still wear this formula! I wore something like this today although not with my highest of heels.

Back to you: I love the black and grey neutral thing going on in the first outfit. It's Angie's mostly black formula. What I like about this outfit is you could slip on a pair of Cons or clogs to bring the outfit down a notch. I have learned to love outfits like this out of respect to my bf. With the simple change of footwear, I can go from walking the dogs to Chinese food and he doesn't have to wait for me but for a second!

These both work really well and frankly, I wouldn't change a darned thing! I especially like the first outfit (Denise inspiration). It's simple in that it's three pieces but that longer cardigan kicks up the style factor and makes the outfit cozy but chic.

Aida, you are always a feast for the eye! I love that you chose among YLFers, and the copycat outfits are great, both of them. I particularly like the first one.

  • Lisa replied 11 years ago

#1 is a perfectly cozy looking outfit. I'd love to see it with a bright bold solid color scarf. Maybe orange or lime?

#2 this top is lovely on you. Great colors here.

  • Astrid replied 11 years ago

I really like the waist surrendering in #1! I think the cardigan works perfectly that way, it has just enough slouch without being too boxy. It's still very flattering. Also love your earrings! #2 is great too, you look fantastic in this bright blue plaid. And I love the 'crazy' hair, I still think that haircut was the best thing ever. :)

  • Aida replied 11 years ago

Thank you for the comments ladies! And thanks also for the earring compliments, especially nice to hear since I made those ^^

Denise, glad you caught this! I enjoyed channeling you for a day :) I was so curious about if you were still wearing this silhouette, I'm feeling totally sold on it. And I love the idea of swapping the shoes from heels to flats if needed, I really should try to do that more.

Lisa, fun idea with the bright scarf, I'll try that next time! The weather here is sure getting cold enough for it ;)

Astrid, "slouchy without being boxy" is my favorite and I haven't really thought of that as its description. Going to add that to my big style descriptor list, thanks! (And crazy hair is really getting crazy! I think it needs a trim hehe)

Totally flattered that I inspired you. That color of your blue plaid shirt is great on you.

  • Aida replied 11 years ago

Anna you have very inspiring style, even though I can't copy very often I do enjoy it. Thank you :)

  • Joy replied 11 years ago

Such perfect interpretations! the first is a different look for you but lovely. In the second, the blue is sensational on you. Please get more of that color. Your hair is fabulous! I have hair envy.

  • JR replied 11 years ago

You are hard on my budget. Now I want a long cardigan too.

I have one, actually, but it's about four sizes too big and I use it as a housecoat... LOL!

It is fun to copy each other, isn't it? You did a great job with both looks, as did your inspirations.

I wish I could copy your hair. *sigh*

  • Aida replied 11 years ago

    Thank you Joy and JR! My crazy hair thanks you, too :}
