WIW 11.10-11.17 (Maui edition)

Finally got all my Maui vacation photos collaged; each photo below is one day's worth of outfits. I included some swimwear photos in #7 since I never did a "what's my shape" post (I know it's hourglass; don't know secondary, possibly IT?). I struggled a bit with creating summery outfits, but I think they turned out alright. Also since my husband took all the photos you can all see me smiling (I usually look like the right pic in photo 1, "Eeeeeee, look! Flamingos!!" ;) ).

Steph I wanted to thank you for your recommendation to Merriman's; we had our anniversary dinner there and it was awesome. Thanks so much!

My final packing list: 2 swimsuits, 1 coverup, 1 skirt, 1 shorts, 2 tops, 2 tanks, 1 camisole, 2 dresses, 2 sandals, 1 flip flops, and 1 jeans/jacket/flats for Seattle weather (also had 2 cardigans that I never wore).

Accessories: 2 pairs hoops, 1 pearl necklace, 1 pendant (fishy!), 1 bangle. I was also gifted for our anniversary a lovely pair of Akoya pearl earrings.

* Day 1: 6 hour flight and dinner.
* Day 2: Brunch followed by shopping (left), then hung out at the hotel's awesome pool all day (bottom). In the evening, dinner and a walk on the beach (right).
* Day 3: Anniversary day! Went to brunch (left), then snorkeling which is possibly the best thing ever in the world (bottom, top left), then out to a fancy dinner at Merriman's (top right); I unfortunately forgot to pack my fancy maxi dress for this dinner.
* Day 4: Had brunch then spent the day in the ocean and sunbathing (top right), followed by dinner, sunset watching, and a walk on the beach (all the others).
* Day 5: Woke up early and had brunch, then watched the football games (go Seahawks, a win!) with some other Seattleites. The bar had 5 TVs so they had all the games on which was pretty great. In the evening we had dinner at the Maui Brewing Company.
* Day 6: Went to brunch (top left) then for a really cool, though harrowing, drive around the northwestern part of the island (bottom left, right). The road was wide enough for only 1 car for most of the way, with VERY steep cliff drops; got to see a totally different side of the island and some spectacular views.
* Day 7: Beach and pool day (left), then out for a little shopping, dinner, and a long walk in the evening (right). I also got my anniversary gift, a beautiful pair of pearl studs!
* Day 8: Our last day of vacation. I wore this to drive around and look for a place to develop our underwater cameras, then changed into what I wore on Day 1 for the airport and plane ride home.

It was a lovely vacation! And just for fun I added some underwater photos of us :)

    Looks like a wonderful vacation! Your hubby is yummy!! Mrawr!

    I especially love the red cami and white skirt -- that's a great color for you! And is that a wiggly fish necklace in photo 5? I had one of those back in the 70s! Fun!!

    My favorite collage is definitely no. 6 -- that dress is amazing on you!

    Oh, and you look amazing in your swimsuit!

    Thanks for sharing! I feel like I've had a little trip to the tropics myself!

  • Aida replied 12 years ago

    Hehe, I'll be sure to tell the hubby he's yummy, I'm sure he'll be flattered :) The fishy necklace is indeed wiggly! I love it, very me. I'm glad you like my geo-pattern dress, I wish I could find more like it. Perhaps in the same red as my cami! Thanks for the compliments ^^

    Looks like a fabulous vacation!! You look perfect for the tropical vacation!
    The underwater shots are FAB.. I.love Maui!!

  • Mo replied 12 years ago

    I particularly like the red tank in all its incarnations and the geo dress in #6. Hubby is pretty cute ;) don't let it go to his head, though :P

    So youthful and pretty. I love the geo dress and the red tank & white skirt looks so tropic. What a breath of fresh air to look at those pictures. You look good in a swimsuit.

    Great pics, Aida! You and hubby are adorable. What a gorgeous couple you make! It's fun to see the uber casual side of you : ) Love that halter style dress on you--you look sizzling! Not sure about the body type question but you are certainly welcome to join Team Shoulder!

  • Steph replied 12 years ago

    These photos are fantastic, and you look great. My favorite outfit is one of the simplest: the red tank with the shorts. I think that tank is incredibly flattering!

    This makes me want to go back to Maui!

    Thanks for all the lovely comments!

    Taylor - We had a lot of fun with the underwater cameras. I thought I'd spare you all the "Look a fish!" shots though :)

    Mo - Hehe, he rarely listens when I tell him the same thing. I think it's more that he would rather I used a word other than "cute" ;)

    Reneeb - Thanks! I'm a huge fan of nautical colors in the summer (or summer-like weather) so I was very happy to have my red, white and blue/turquoise.

    kelleygirl - Thanks for the compliment on the pair of us, all these years later it still makes me think, "awww thanks! <3" As an IT are halter necklines usually avoided? I'm not sure I could give it up, even if it unbalances my proportions a bit :)

    Steph - I'm glad you like one of the shorts outfits, I rarely wear shorts and always feel weird in them.

    Great outfits, cute husband, what's not to love? I will be referring back to this for my next beach vacation. I tend to bring ALL my summer items, since I never get to wear them enough here.

    Gawd, I miss Hawai'i.

    How fun! Thanks for sharing your gorgeous pictures, Aida! You were perfectly turned out for a tropical beach holiday.

    You and hubby make a lovely couple :)

  • kellygirl replied 12 years ago

    Aida, halter necklines are good for IT's. I don't think you look unbalanced at all. You look very proportional and you have great shoulders!

  • Aida replied 12 years ago

    Thanks everyone! I told my husband he got YLF approval and he just smiled and shook his head ^^

    dollface - Thanks very much, I used SO much sunblock while we were there to keep my skin happy (it still burned a bit though).

    Una - We don't get much summer here too, so I was almost at a loss for what to bring; this is pretty much all of my good summer clothing hehe

    Angie - Happy to have your approval of my summery outfits! I was very unsure of them while packing and was feeling a bit down on them until we got there and I had to make the best of it :)

    kellygirl - Ohhh good to know, since halter tops are my fave summer neckline!

    Looks like you had such a good time! I'm looking outside now and I see tons of snow, boy how I hate winter and cold, brrrr...

    Aida, I love:
    - the collages themselves, you've done a great job;
    - you on the photos, your own style and look so comfortable in your skin;
    - your smile and general attitude, you beam with happiness;
    - your blue nail-polish, pearl necklace (AND your cheeky smile) on photo 1;
    - your minimalist suitcase, you've mastered efficient holiday packing.
