WIW 11.03 Celia copycat (black, camel, leopard)

I totally loved Celia's recent black, camel and leopard outfit with the Trouve blazer (seen here), and of course couldn't help but want to wear a copycat of it especially since I have the same blazer! I wanted to wear the outfit right away, but decided to save it for my brother-in-law's birthday dinner with my in-laws. It was perfect for the occasion and I felt super fab all evening. Thanks for the great inspiration, Celia :D

Comments, critiques, thoughts and questions welcome!

EDIT: The non-scarf version only came out to play during dinner once food arrived; I didn't feel like cracking open piles of crab and buttering all my seafood with the scarf on ;)

I find your outfits are an interesting blend of casual and chic. I often try to break it down but haven't quite figured out what makes it seem so to me.

    It looks great.

I love the mix of the animal print scarf with the jacket, and the column of black is a perfect complement! You look fab.

Super outfit~ Are those the gap's always skinny's?

  • Queen Mum replied 12 years ago

LOVE IT! a great look Aida!

  • Aida replied 12 years ago

Thanks ladies! This outfit feels very in-line with my style goals :D

Dianthus, thank you! That is definitely what I try to do, so this makes me very happy to hear :D

Rita, these are the Gap’s Really Skinny Pants. The material is thicker like a trouser, but still fairly stretchy. Very comfortable pants!

This is a great outfit, I love all the black with the camel jacket. You look chic and laid-back - just fab!

I'm loving this outfit Aida (on Celia too!) There's something just so classic about camel and black together - but it has a modern flare to it...just lovely!

  • Suz replied 12 years ago

Love this on you, Aida! You really do look perfectly dressed for the occasion. The scarf is such a fun touch and the whole thing manages to combine classic and sassy.

This is fabulous! I don't think it would work without the killer boots and pants combo. The color scheme and the bag make it look really rich. The metalic stripes in the top keep it youthful and interesting. And of course I LOVE the scarf/blazer combo.

You are definately reaching your style goal of mixing dressy with casual! And the most important thing that you got right is that your top is interesting enough to stand alone after removing scarf and blazer. This is often (as you know!) where I go wrong.

You are fiercely beautiful and chic! Rock on, my friend!

Thanks for the comments, ladies :D

Astrid and Transcona Shannon, I'm just starting to reincorporate camel into my core neutrals. I used to wear it a lot, then was pegged as "Winter" coloring and sadly gave it all up; now that I know I'm actually more "Autumn" than "Winter" I'm keen to bring it back into my wardrobe! I too love how camel looks with black (my main neutral).

Claire, I almost didn't wear this sweater actually! I was initially going to wear a black tee but then realized that I would have to take the scarf off at dinner, so chose to wear this sweater instead. I think if you know you're not going to have to take the scarf off you can sport simpler tops and not worry about it too much. Once you can get the base layer looking interesting you can really do fun things with accessories :) [EDIT: \m/ ]

I love that camel with black, too! I also gave up camel, thinking it was a "beige," but I'm slowly rediscovering it as a "tan", a.k.a. "nude" with my skin tone. I don't have anything this color yet, but the ole peepers are peeled.

Really stunning ensemble, Aida! The striped sweater and animal print scarf is brilliant with the blazer. You look like a super model (again!)

  • Joy replied 12 years ago

WOW, Aida, this may be my favorite outfit on you yet. It's edgy and classic, fierce and feminine, sexy but ladylike...a work of art.

  • Sveta replied 12 years ago

Love it, Aida - may want to copy...

  • Deborah replied 12 years ago

I always find camel and black to be a very stylish and elegant combination, and you have managed to add some 'funk' as well:) Aida you really 'own' your looks. You never look like the clothes are wearing you. The addition of the animal print scarf just adds that something extra.. you have a great style.

  • catgirl replied 12 years ago

Very stylish and elegant with that Aida touch of sass. I think you'll find lots of ways to wear this blazer! I'm glad to hear you enjoyed wearing this - that's a sign of a great outfit.

All I can say is: I didn't know how much I wanted a camel jacket until I saw this thread.

  • Aida replied 12 years ago

Thank you for the lovely comments, ladies! I'm so glad you all like this outfit as much as I do, another round of thanks to Celia :D

Rae, exactly! For me, I'm making sure to look for really rich caramel-ly camel tones. It's hard not to flood my wardrobe with the color because I'm so excited to find that it works hehe.

Joy, thank you very much. Your description makes me so happy to read! I have incorporated it into my style goal manifesto, hope you don't mind :) I would be thrilled if all of my outfits would fit that description.

*whispers* Sveta doooo a copyyyy and post iiittttttttt.....
