WIW 10.22-26 (a week inspired by Pinterest)

I enjoyed participating in MaryK's Pinterest challenge earlier in the month (outfit #2 here), so last week I decided it would be fun to do a week's worth! Proved tougher than expected (I hate planning outfits in advance), plus the weather wasn't very cooperative. Still, I am quite happy with how these all turned out.

  1. Monday; worn to run errands (I spent aaalllll day trying to find a plain white table runner + pretty decorations). Inspired by this outfit. I don't have a super oversized chunky scarf (yet!), but if I did I would want taupe or gray. Swapped the emerald to my legs, and regretted wearing the peep-toe booties instead of flat black boots like the inspiration outfit almost immediately; it was SO VERY wet! I knew the trench wouldn't be coming off, but coordinated my top anyway.
  2. Tuesday; worn to work and grocery. Inspired by this outfit. This teal infinity scarf/snood was the closest thing I had that'd work for this inspiration, though certainly less cheerful than the happy mustard. I had brown accents like the inspiration initially but then swapped them to black (they looked fine, just wasn't in the mood). These tights are also more opaque in person, though they do seem to be losing their strength of opacity. Going to need to replace them!
  3. Wednesday; worn to work, gym, grocery. Inspired by this outfit. I am really loving how blush softens up a very graphic black and white outfit this season! Also debated about whether these new hoops were too big, but I just love 'em and, well hey, I love big earrings (it's the 80s + Mediterranean gal in me, I guess). Added the printed scarf to keep the b&w graphic thing going for outerwear, and also swapped my normal orange/red lip for a soft pink.
  4. Thursday; worn to work, gym. Inspired by this outfit; outdoor look inspired by this outfit. My only truly chunky sweater is a turtleneck, so I decided to instead use a (new) semi-cropped printed sweater as the next best thing (those big chunky cables are kind of like a print, right?). Worn over my new cobalt blouse, whose fabric I learned is much too stiff to layer over, and slouchy white skinnies (getting too slouchy?).
  5. Friday; worn to work. Inspired by this outfit. An interesting mix of cool-warm colors, hopefully this works to your eyes like it does to mine :) The orange/rusty-orange color is present in the top, echoed in the boots, and of course there's gray all over the place. As an aside, I double especially liked my hair this day!
  6. Bonus photo of how my Autumn table runner from Monday's crazy shopping day turned out! I ended up just going to the fabric store and making the runner myself. It's a tonal white print on a lovely silky white, with white candles and cream pumpkins. I'm very pleased with how it turned out! And, as is fitting for the week, this was also inspired by Pinterest.

They are all wonderful looks. I love #3 & #4.

  • Angie replied 11 years ago

    oooh!! I especially LOVE #5!!

You look better than all your inspiration outfits put together :)

    Fab Autumn decorations too!

  • Makrame replied 11 years ago

I agree, you look better than the inspiration outfits! Great collection of outfits!

  • Day Vies replied 11 years ago

I love what you do with black and white! I love #3.

  • Karie replied 11 years ago

I love all your outfits! Well done!

  • Raisin replied 11 years ago

They are all WOW! #2 and #5 are double WOW!

  • Jaime replied 11 years ago

I didn't even bother looking at the inspiration pictures - these are some of your best outfits ever (well there is large number in that category). I especially love #5 and #3 but all of them are worthy inspiration pictures themselves.

  • replied 11 years ago

So much inspiration here! I like them all. That blush moto is to die for.

  • Deborah replied 11 years ago

Wow! Aida #5 is quite possibly may favourite of all you outfits to date. I am not sure if I can articulate what is so special about it...but I will try :) I think it's the fit. Everything is perfect, the fit of the jeans, and the color, the shape of the blouse and the jacket. Im pinning this.

The other outfits are wonderful too with a special mention for #2. I love that striped dress :)

  • Joy replied 11 years ago

What a treat today to see your wonderful outfits and seasonal table top display! My favorites are 2 and 5. I want to shop my closet for an outfit inspired by #5.

  • rae replied 11 years ago

Crazy cool, all of it! You must have modeled in a previous life, because I'm all aflutter wanting a blush jacket and emerald skinnies now. The table runner is *awesome*! Crafty lady.

  • Jenava replied 11 years ago

They are all cute, as usual, but #5 seems special. And I love your table decor....worth the trouble, I think!

  • Suz replied 11 years ago

#2 is better than the inspiration, I think - the buttons make up for the mustard and the shapes are so fab! I also adore #5. Brilliant!!

    Your decorations are also fun.

  • ButterflyLady replied 11 years ago

I love how you have been inspired by, but haven't copied, your pins (I'm following your style board now, too ), and like the others, #5 is just fab - I can't say exactly why, it just all adds up to make total fabness (you look gorgeous in rust).

  • cheryle (Dianthus) replied 11 years ago

I keep going back and looking at #5 to figure out what it is that I love but it is just the overall feel of the outfit. It is lovely. I think they are all fab but #2 is another stand out for me. Thanks for sharing Aida. I always enjoy your WIWs.

  • missvee replied 11 years ago

I love 3, 4, and 5. Especially 5. That jacket is such a great colour and fit. Sigh, I have jacket envy...

  • chouette22 replied 11 years ago

Wow, wow, wow, you look so incredibly fantastic in all of these outfits! I am going to save this thread as a favorite or pin all of your pictures to my Pinterest board. Amazing!

  • Transcona Shannon replied 11 years ago

Again, every single outfit is superbe Aida. I'm especially smitten with #2 and #5. I have that same blouse as you in #5 and never thought to wear it with a red jacket - so copying you on that idea!

    Your autumn table is stunning!

  • kellygirl replied 11 years ago

Aida, you never cease to inspire me! Every one of these is so fab. I don't know how you do it. It would take me all day to come up with these kind of interesting and bold ensembles. I should just start copying you! Love all of them--especially 2 and 5! Wow!

  • Diana replied 11 years ago

I LOVE #2 and am going to copy your version!

    I also really like #5.

  • harmonica replied 11 years ago

    You super stylish FAB lady!!

  • Sona replied 11 years ago

love them all but 5 steals my heart!

    :)

  • Ingunn replied 11 years ago

You are particularly stylish, Aida, in every single one of these outfits. I can't pick a favorite, and I want a trench like yours. Thank you for the inspiration!

  • catgirl replied 11 years ago

These are all fabulous! I see one of your new items (waving to military jacket) but where are the rest? I want to see the floral print blouse in action!

  • JulieJohn replied 11 years ago

Gorgeous! I love your gloves in #2, they really complete a great outfit and add interest, they are so pretty! I also adore #5, and agree with Debs that the fit is what makes it great, but also the choices you made are just right for a very ladylike, motorcycle mama.

  • texstyle replied 11 years ago

Very nice but I also LOVE #5 WOW is right!

  • Aida replied 11 years ago

Thank you ALL for the wonderful comments! So happy that #5 went over well, as I felt it perfectly captures my 70s influences these days; I was a little concerned it was bordering "too weird" between the PB blouse+moto pairing, the warm+cool color pairing, and the low contrast outfit+high contrast boots. I love it when my experiments are a success :D

Deborah and Dianthus, thank you for the detail regarding #5! I really appreciate hearing anything that helps me figure out how to recapture the spirit of winnings looks.

Rae, *rubs hands together* well I could definitely see you rocking emerald skinnies... they'd just look so good with all your sour colors! I'm not sure I've seen you in blush before, though! Is it a color you wear?

Butterfly, thank you! I'm glad to hear you feel my versions stand separate from the inspiration outfits; I find it so interesting that even though we use our own pieces to recreate a look, sometimes they turn out feeling like "us" and sometimes not.

Missvee, the rusty jacket is by Blanc Noir and was still available at Nordstrom Rack a couple weeks ago, perhaps it's still there? In addition to this great rusty red it also comes in emerald and orange!

Joy, Shannon, and Diana, I can't wait to see your outfits!

Una, good eye! I love this little military jacket, thank you again :D As for the new stuff, ummmmm I'm actually not on Team Wear *ducks*; I like to let new stuff percolate in my brain for a while before I start using them in outfits. I have worn many of the new pieces, (I haven't posted the week following the OC meetup yet!), but still not the floral blouse. Soon! It's been soooo wet, I just can't get myself to wear a sheer blouse with this much rain ><

Julie, I love the description of "very ladylike, motorcycle mama" ^^ Thanks also on the gloves (also new, similar to these), I wasn't sure if they looked too oddball without a proper coat in #2.

Angie, Joy, Rae, Jenava, Suz, and Shannon, thanks especially for the lovely comments on my Autumn table runner decorations; I still consider myself quite a rookie in the home decor department! A bonus lights-on photo, complete with extra kitty decoration ^^

  • Parsley replied 11 years ago

Wow, Aida- these are some of your best outfits EVER!
I'd say #2 and #5 are my favorites, but I love them all
And your autumn table looks SO pretty. I'm going to try to copy it. (hope I have an easier time finding some fabric!)

  • Aida replied 11 years ago

Thanks Parsley! The fabric itself was easy to find, once I gave up trying to find a finished runner at a store (everything is printed and dark right now!). I suggest looking near the bridal sections if you want somethign silky. And I bet all the pumpkins are on super sale right now! Would love to see how your table turns out :D

  • MsMary replied 11 years ago

I could have sworn I commented on this thread...

Anyway! WOW!! These are totes faboo!! #5, in particular, is too cool for school!! I have that blouse, too, and am trying to think of a way to copy it in the absence of a jacket that color. I do have a skirt that color, so maybe a rust colored skirt and gray jacket will do the trick!

*standing ovation for the whole lot*

  • Parsley replied 11 years ago

The bridal section? I don't think I would have thought of that!
If I get my act together and actually do this, I''ll show you a picture.

  • qfbrenda replied 11 years ago

I love your week!! I like your version better than every pin that inspired you. And great trench. ;)

  • Aida replied 11 years ago

Mary, thank youu! I am shocked that Ms. Rainbow doesn't have a rusty jacket ;) A rust skirt with a gray jacket sounds fab! I think a red jacket would also work quite well with this blouse.

Parsley, at least at the store I went to, all of the best silkiest white fabrics were in the bridal section. Selfishly hoping I'll get to see your pretty table!

Brenda, thanks! You know a great trench when you see one, trench twin ^^

  • JR replied 11 years ago

I've been wondering if rust and grey could play together. I guess I have my answer now.

Seriously, Aida, can I look like you when I grow up? I might have to sign up for Pinterest, just to have a place to store all your outfits I want to duplicate.
