WIW 10.15 [ensemble: olive, orange & white]

I was very taken with the olive+orange+white ensemble that Angie posted in late August, especially since orange and white are my favorite colors to wear. Having been off olive for several years now it was not something I could sport. Until now! This fall I have, cautiously, added two olive pieces: these tencel joggers and a semi-sheer woven tunic. Both are on the very green end of the spectrum (my photos incorrectly show the olive as quite dull, the stock photo is better) and neither are at all military inspired. So I am hopeful that's enough to keep them from being orphaned.

Today I am taking advantage of the soon-to-be-gone 70F weather and wearing a new sleeveless sweater the way I like it best: sleeveless! It doesn't really show in the photos, but it's actually cream in the body with white faux leather panels on the sides which give it a swingy shape. Pink lipstick for a little added girlishness, gray fringe bag and rose aviators directly inspired by the ensemble post, and gold leaf/arrow earrings to add to the boho-sporty vibe.

Newer: sweater, pants, clutch, earrings, sunnies (whew!)
  Older: booties

It did end up feeling a lot cooler than 70F was feeling even just a few weeks ago, so while I liked the cheekier styling with the joggers pulled up (#1) I ended up actually wearing them left down at full length (#2).

The joggers look so good on you! I love the outfit both ways. In the past, I've been a burgundy girl but olive works well with my skin tone too so I'm hoping to add a few pieces. I'm jealous you got the joggers while they were available, they sold out quick.

Stephanie, aw that's too bad! Tencel is lovely for warmer temperatures, I think they'd have worked nicely for you. I replied about the BR sweater on my other thread in case you missed it by the way! And thanks :D

I bought these pants awhile ago and have yet to wear them.  I like the way you've styled them here - and wearing with a animal print bootie has been in my imagination. Trouble is, I don't know such a thing ;)

I'm also loving rose gold at the moment, and here again, don't own anything other than some earrings.  Not sure what to do ....lol.

Just an all-around perfect outfit and very flattering - in your usual way!

I really like your earrings . That beanstalk motif is fun.
I like how casual the pants are.

You wear joggers really well. I like them much better the way you have them styled than the less-scrunched styling on the model in the Find.

I have owned a couple of Tencel items, and both of them ended up ruined by grease stains I could never get out. That fabric just seems to lock grease in and never let go. I'm always leery of it now, but no one else seems to have this issue, so maybe I'm just messier than average.

You rock joggers, Aida! Seriously, I love the casual olive style jogger and animal print booties. Enjoy this beautiful weather...the tide is about to turn, I'm afraid!

What a great outfit. You should be modeling the pants for the Gap--they would sell more of them, I'm sure. From the title, I was expecting to see one of your orange-red jackets over this outfit. Of course I like it as is, but if you need a jacket, you have options. Just saying. ;)

I really like the sleeveless tunic on you and am glad you had another chance to wear it. Love the juggers and those booties are working with everything this fall.

Aida -- I especially love your WIWs.  You always look so fabulous and yet so amazingly effortless.  It is a style I try to emulate.  You pose well too.  I usually stand like a stick so the ensemble looks "uncomfortable" not fluid.

Very nice! I like sleeveless sweaters worn sleeveless too, but don't often get to wear them that way with our either too hot or too cold climate here in NY.
And those fab jogger pants! I'm headed to a huge outlet center this weekend and there's a Gap Outlet there, so since the joggers are no longer available in their retail store, maybe....

I too like them pulled up a lot, especially with these booties. It gives them center stage and they are so cool. But worn down had its charm too, and I can certainly see you wearing a roomy topper with the pants down. I see a loose cardi with batwings or a bubble shape jacket.

Another hit Aida.  The boots add so much to the look and I would never have thought of adding them.  Very interesting and flattering look.

Love! Those booties are to die for!!

You had me with Olive :) Both pushed up and full length the joggers look great! Bet the Tencel is lovely to wear too. I like the pairing of the sleeveless knit and that bag is always a fab and fun addition to an outfit

You look great! Very effortless but stylish. Like how the colours go together and I like the shoes with the pants, they add some extra style!

Another fantastic outfit Aida.  Love the booties with the pants.

Back with a question:  these pants.....do you intend to take them much further forward into winter (or Seattle's version of winter? ) How are you going to style them ?

  • abc replied 4 years ago

What a treat to see another WIW from you!  Seriously, you are a master at it all - colors, proportions, understanding what works and what doesn't for you.

Love this, and those booties are kick a**.  The pants look great either way but I prefer them up for some reason.

Enjoy those temps while you can!

    I love this outfit!

I've recently realised how amazing smart joggers can be. They're so perfect for our weather when you don't want to wear thick denim, you also don't want to wear fussy trousers, leggings feel a bit restrictive becoz you'll need a long top, and you're sick of looking at your own legs in shorts. Enter - joggers! They are cool, comfy, lose and yet look great with the right top.

You look fabulous in this outfit! I absolutely love every itsy bitsy detail here. You've inspired me, Aida.....yet again!

  • Stephanie replied 4 years ago

Thanks! I will have to keep an eye out for tencel items in the future then. I am still challenged by finding good fabrics for the climate, even after being here almost 4 years.

  • Aida replied 4 years ago

Thanks very much ladies! Apologies for the late response ><

Lisa, how fun that you also have these pants! To be honest I haven't really come up with particular outfits for them, just some very rough ideas, but should probably have a good play to see what'll work. I do know that I'd like in particular to pair with a new fringey navy sweater (below), and also plan to experiment with tucking them into tall boots for a sort of knickerbocker look. Lyocell is surprisingly warm, while also being wonderfully cool in summer. I'm wearing a different pair of Tencel pants and it's in the mid 50s F today; I was quite comfortable while out for a walk. Might try wearing with tights when the temps drop to the low 40s, not sure how warm they'd feel then.

Jenn, hmm thats interesting. I have several lyocell items (it's one of my most favorite fabrics) and haven't specifically had problems with staining. Wrinkles, but not stains ;)

Sharan and Krish, thanks for the ideas! I'll have a play with pairing the rusty jacket, as well as with my white blazer and cream batwing cardigan.

Sterling, hah yes well the posing took a good while. I have been taking outfit photos for 7.5 years now (eep!). My early photos were very stiff!

Great outfit, Aida!  I have a fondness for olive, and these joggers are perfect on you.  Loving the fringe bag, too!

You are the reigning YLF Cool Girl. Love the joggers and your styling.

Great look! I love the olive and the leopard print shoes together. I got rid of my olive pants (didn't fit quite right) and need new ones. I haven't found what I want yet so I'm enjoying olive vicariously through others.
