WIW 10.06-11

A week of outfits from earlier this month, the week before the OC meetup. The temperatures had cooled down enough to prevent my beloved shorts+boots combos, but not enough to warrant a coat; I was happily able to sneak in one more BF jean look before it's too cold for them, too.

Although I don't really wear proper pink much, I do really like to wear blush. I managed a bit of blush pink in every outfit for this week except one in honor of BCAM, whether that was via my blush moto or my blush purse (and also wore the blush moto all the following weekend down in OC). On to the outfits!

  1. Saturday; worn for a quick run to the grocery for weekend rations. Easy and quick outfit, hooray for the power of a good topper and having fab pieces in one's wardrobe!
  2. Monday; worn to the salon for a hair refresher, and to do some returns so I'd have money to play with in OC at the end of the week ;) Inspired by this outfit on Pinterest in response to MaryK's challenge, though I must've been in a darker mood heh. Felt super in this!
  3. Bonus photos of updated 'do. I had her cut in even messier layers than the initial cut because I far more enjoy styling it messily than neatly. You can see them better in photo #5, it's all quite scraggly in front now :}
  4. Tuesday; worn to work. After the very dark outfit on Monday, I wanted something bright and cheerful. I know many people don't like to pair orange with black, but I love the color combo; I usually make sure to add in a big dose of white/cream, and sometimes an additional color (especially cobalt!). I've been really feeling this neither-here-nor-there cropped sweater length lately, maybe a nod to the 90s resurgence?
  5. Wednesday; worn to work. Wearing this sweater dress my favorite way, with flared jeans. Was feeling minimal and decided to forgo a belt or necklace or scarf, and just do dangly earrings which get lost in my hair anyway. Also, some new retro-styled sunnies I picked up at LOFT which I'd been eyeing for a while (I got the tortoiseshell!); they're also in outfit #4.
  6. Thursday; worn to work. Felt like playing with textures, so I pulled out my seldom worn lace layering top and added in faux fur, chunky knit, denim, leather, and snakeskin (whew!). Too much? I also quite liked the look of matching the purse and moto together. This outfit feels slightly different for me, but I very much enjoyed wearing it.

Good golly, Aida! These are so glorious, I don't even know where to begin. Fantastic! (Angie's going to faint, I just know it.)

  • Carole replied 11 years ago

These are all terrific outfits, Aida, but 6, WOW. I just love this. I saw a similar vest and wondered how to layer over it and presto, here you are with your magic powers to show us how it's done.

    #2 is so freaking cool.

  • Mann replied 11 years ago

Wow, love all of the looks, but LLLOOVVEE the last one. Wow!

OMG, you always look so darn amazing, Aida! I love every one of these--the long sweater over the bootcuts is so chic and fresh looking. Not everyone could pull this off but you certainly do. LOVE the black moto--what a fun jacket--is it boucle? Your hair is amazingly fab and sassy. Great orange/black pairing--cream really makes it look fab. Go Giants! Every one of these is a home run!

These are all spectacular, but #2 and #6 are faint worthy!

These are so cool! And having seen your hair in person, I can attest that it is just too fab for words!!! Love the blush jacket and bag so much I want to marry them!

Now excuse me while I go re-pin, like, every single thing from your Pinterest board...

You are stunning and should be a model! The new hair is perfect on you.
My favorite outfit is #2 followed by the fun of #6. It's like a party.
I'm also taking careful notes on how you wear orange with black.

I love all your looks, especially #2 and #4!

Great week! I'm wondering how/if I could recreate #5. I feel too short to be able to pull it off but I know you aren't much taller than I am. Anyway, I really like it!

ALL fab looks #2 is my favourite - just.....

  • rae replied 11 years ago

Eep!! I am so in love with #4! Bashing my head into the desk at the fact that I don't own true black skinnies. I love the high contrast brown boot with the black denim!

  • CocoLion replied 11 years ago

Another fan of #2. The sloppy roll is fantastic.

Also, that pink moto jacket is just all kinds of terrific. Don't you love it? What a great purchase! It turns every outfit into an instant winner.

The picture of you with the camera below your chin is so cute. It looks like something out of a hair magazine. Yes you look like a model!!!!!!!!!!!!

2 is my all time fave.

  • Mona replied 11 years ago

You are just glowing in #4. Love the orange, black and white/off white combo. Where did you get the boots? such a nice colour.

  • Scarlet replied 11 years ago

I don't know, I think you are just especially on a role lately. I especially love 1-4. The textures in 2 just sing to me, and the orange and contrasts in photo 4 suit you crazy well. Your hair still looks super fab.

  • pil replied 11 years ago

Aida, #6 is breathtaking. How it would occur to anyone to layer over a collar like that - and have it work - is beyond me. And your hair is beautiful.

  • Angie replied 11 years ago

I cannot remember you with long hair. It's like this new hairstyle was meant to be from the day you were born!

    All KILLER outfits.

I expect nothing less from your KILLER style :)

  • Mo replied 11 years ago

Not sure how I missed these! #6 is so perfect. My first thought was, ooh, texture! Then I read along to see you had the same idea in mind ;) I am hoping to finally join you all in wearing my blush moto. It is supposed to cool down some (fingers crossed).
I am sorely tempted to crop my hair whenever I see your cute 'do as well. Maybe shoulder length for me . . . baby steps lol.

You know your style so well Aida - I swear you never make a mistake!

That blush moto is going to be a workhorse, isn't it? It's just perfect on you. I love every single outfit here. And if I had curly hair, I would want it to look just like yours!

  • JulieJohn replied 11 years ago

    * Un - freaking - believable! *

I am crazy about #2, #4, and #6. I read your commentary before I viewed the outfits, and I knew when you mentioned all them textures in #6 I was just gonna love it. And I did.

You are my fashion hero. I have a Mochi-Giovanna-like platonic crush on you.

  • Jaime replied 11 years ago

A gorgeous string of outfits! I love #2 and the orange jacket outfit is fantastic too. Well the others are great also. I love your hair! Love!

  • Aida replied 11 years ago

Wow! Thanks for all the lovely comments, ladies! I am floored by how well received #2 was; I was a little worried it was too "tough" looking. I'll definitely keep this formula in mind for those rare warmer fall days! And thanks especially for all the hair comments, that just made my day <3

Carole and pil, the faux fur collar on this vest lies quite flat which makes it possible to layer over. Most of the faux fur collars I've seen are quite fluffy, and those are certainly much trickier to layer without getting too bulky!

Anna, if you find #2 cool then it must be so! I am super flattered :D

Kelly, the moto in #2 is an ink blue tweedy-boucle with gold threads and half a faux leather collar. It's one of my must fun jackets! (Go Giants indeed, I don't think the Tigers even tried ;) )

Brenda, I think you could certainly don something similar to #5. I've got fairly tall heels on for that outfit, which helps add extra length on bottom to balance it out; if you lowered the heel height, you'd just have to shorten the top to keep the proportions balanced.

Rae, how do you not own true black skinnies!? It sure seems like you'd have 'em. I have two, denim and trousers, and they are indispensable!

Mona, the boots in #4 are Miz Mooz "Flynn". The leather color is very interesting; it turns more greige indoors, and a little more creamy-taupe outdoors.

Scarlet, thank you! I have been working on further refining my style this past month or so after having done a small wardrobe purge and doing all of the excellent exercises Angie has posted on the blog recently. I do feel like I'm honing in on it much better these days, and am very happy to hear that it shows.

    Mo, I hope it cools down for you soon, your blush moto is super awesome! I don't think I've ever seen you with short short hair, but your long locks are certainly glorious looking :}

Shannon, you know, I do feel like I still make mistakes. But happily I am to the point where those mistakes are more of a style inauthenticity rather than a matter of presentability (if that makes sense?). And I don't always feel my experiments are successful, but they are always a good learning experience hehe

Julie, thank you for your sweet comment!! *hug*

Angie, well thank you! I think my hair probably WAS meant to be short and wild, that's it's happiest natural state after all ^^
