WIW 10.05,06 [orange + orange]

We have some lingering nice weather, with a few rainy days mixed in, so I figured I'd better squeeze a few wears out of my favorite summery and transitional pieces while I can! I don't really change my colors up seasonally, but have definitely been in a particularly orange mood the past couple weeks.

10.05 (#2/3) - The tee and pants were a favorite combo in late summer. When it was hot I was pairing with gray ankle strap pumps and hair up for a sporty feel; fallified the outfit by swapping out the pumps for cognac boots and popping a rusty orange jacket overtop for the cooler morning/evening. Finished with sparkly blush earrings, plum lip gloss, and leo clutch.
  Newer: tee, pants, boots, sunnies
  Older: jacket, clutch

10.06 (#4/5) - Last week I wore this new sweater with white and light gray, today I went opposite and paired with black. I still need to spend some time experimenting to find which jackets and tops work with this sweater, but for now I will enjoy it on its own which is how I prefer it most. Finished with pearls and plum lip gloss -- then went for maximum orange with the peachy sunnies and tan/neon clutch.
  Newer: sweater
  Older: pants, shoes, clutch, sunnies

Two totally different looks and I love them both. The first is fun and interesting, the second elegant. The coordination of the clutch and leopard booties is exemplary. I also am fascinated how you got the black and white clutch and pants to work so well together. And the cognac boots with the orange. Mix master!

I absolutely LOVE the orange/red sweater with the black pants and leopard booties. Really love it. I fondled the sweater lovingly in the store the other day, but I know it's reached it's peak on you:)  Fantastic. I also like seeing what you do with makeup against some of these really colourful ensembles.  It's always unexpected and gorgeous.

Aida, you're always what my mother in law would have called chic awi (tres chic). Your oranges look more red on my iPad. I love the sleeveless sweater with black pants and animal print booties!

  • Joy replied 8 years ago

Orangech your ex-trorangch-enary in orange?! Both outfits are fab, but the second featuring the new sweater is delicious and sure to turn heads. You own this color.

  • Sal replied 8 years ago

More love for the new sweater with the pants and leopard booties.  Also love the clutch and glasses - just perfect in every way.

I love most things about one, but I will be a spanner and say I am not sure about the boots here.  I adore the jacket and top with the pants, and you look gorgeous as always.  I can imagine it with sleeker boots or even oxfords or sneakers?

You do suit these red/orange shades so well so keep on wearing them!

  • Aida replied 8 years ago

Thank you ladies! These oranges are ridiculously difficult to photograph. The rusty saturated shade in photo #5 is probably the best representation; the jacket is almost the exact same color, and the tee in #1 is a bright neon red-orange. They look OK on my computer but all look red on my phone, too -_-

Jaime, the pants/clutch in #1 share only the black in common -- the pants are gray/black and the clutch is cream/black. I'm not sure everyone would think the prints work together but I like how chaotic it is.

Lisa, I could see you in the charcoal sweater, even this orange if it's a color you wear. You've got all the best ankle pants and cool booties to wear with it!

UmmLila, hehe my mom says that too, chic awiyeh ^^ Thank you!

Joy, and people think "orange" is a tough word to use in poetry, clearly not so!

Sally, I see what you're saying about the boots in #1, something sleeker would certainly work well there (previously had been wearing those pants with pumps). Was going for a sporty/boho mix -- weird but fun? ;)

  • Sal replied 8 years ago

Aida, weird but fun is always good!  I like experimenting too ;)

  • Maneera replied 8 years ago

You look lovely in these deep oranges! I am loving the long sleeveless sweater on you so so much...looks ah-mah-zing in this outfit paired with black pants. As always, I love the finishing touches in both your outfits.

  • Laurie replied 8 years ago

We should see this color on you much more often, Aida.  It's spectacular with your fair skin and dark hair.  Love the 2nd look especially.  Reading redder to me in the photos too, but I really love whatever color it is.

  • kellygirl replied 8 years ago

Super duper gorgeous, Aida! Love what you did with the Zella capris. You are a genius. Adore the second outfit too. Those leopard print booties with the red sweater--divine!

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 8 years ago

These outfits are so fun. I love the colors on you! Like shevia, I adore the pairing of the clutch and booties in outfit 2. That sleek look is just gorgeous on you. The first one is more fun and creative, more up my alley (in the sense of something I would wear). I'm like Sally, I paused at the boots. Personally I would have gone for black, but I figure this is one of those master-class things, and I'm just not there yet. It seems shevia looked at the boots as echoing the orange, and I can see that. Also that you were going for sporty/boho, which I can certainly appreciate, too. In any case, I love the layers and pattern-mixing.

I haven't had time to post or comment in ages but had to stop by to say the the second outfit is just awesome.  the clutch, sunnies, shoes and turtleneck (and lip gloss) have such a subtle but perfect interplay of warm colors, and are amazing with your coloring.  I also like how the boots and bag have a similar kind of light/saturated color blocking.

  • Stephanie replied 8 years ago

Well, it's settled then - I need that BR sweater! I was thinking about the grey but I love the orangey color. Your look in #4 is amazing…everything coordinates so well. How is the weight of the sweater? I'm usually hesitant to buy many since I live in such a warm climate, but the cotton/rayon mix might just work. You look amazing!

  • Elizabeth P replied 8 years ago

LOL... I wore (half of) that EXACT same out (#1) on the weekend.  I don't have the orange leather jacket or boots, but I did wear the pants and tee.  To be honest Aida, I'm not really liking the boots with that combo... Not sure if it's the warm colour tone with the cooler ones, or the heaviness of them with the light pants or what.  Maybe it's just not me.

LOVE #2.  I have paused at that sweater several times when shopping, and have convinced myself there isn't enough of a season for it here to let me be a bad girl, but it is lovely, and you have styled it perfectly.

I hereby crown you Queen Orange, Aida. Can I be a Princess in your Kingdom?

I LOVE the outfit with the black pants. Killer Deluxe. Our booties add incredible richness to the palette - and the pants are a great length with that style of bootie. Trendy. I also love the black cami peaking out from under your arms. Pretty.

You are making me want that tunic sweater vest. You are already wearing it A LOT. Wooohoooo.

On that note, I got this bag - but it's more rust in person. It's a good match for my new patent booties. Orange bag for Summer!

  • Beth Ann replied 8 years ago

That sweater was made for you and your climate.  Love the way it has sparked so many fabulous ensembles!  These would make great weekend-away outfits!

  • milehighstyle (Linda) replied 8 years ago

I love that BR turtleneck sweater on you, Aida!  I tried it on and it swallowed me right up. I don't have enough neck for it. It will look great on you, Angie.

  • replied 8 years ago

You are killin' me with your outfits lately! Love both of these. Orange is a colour that does me no favours, but you on the other hand look amazing in it and I'm really enjoying that new tunic being styled in different ways. Looks fab with the black pants!

  • Sara L. replied 8 years ago

Fun outfits!  I love the leopard print boots with #2.  The pants in #1 are super fun with the cute jacket and boots.

  • Carole replied 8 years ago

Aida, what a gorgeous shade for you and such winning pieces! All outfits are fantastic, but my favorite is the 4! Love the animal print, red/orange and black combo! I'm anxious to see other ways you style the fun sleeveless tunic, too!

  • Susie replied 8 years ago

I've never been drawn to orange clothing but you make it look gorgeous. That tunic is fantastic and looks great with the black and leopard. Wow.

  • rachylou replied 8 years ago

I love these outfits! In fact they were already all hearted by me in Finds (the items that is). Except I think everything is red...

  • replied 8 years ago

I think you need some of those go go boots, Aida.
I love the orange on you. It
Oddly enough, I really like the t-shirt without the jacket. It seems fun and casual.

  • MsMaven replied 8 years ago

I love that jacket, especially with the pants.

  • Isabel replied 8 years ago

You look amazing !  That is such a pretty orange.  Almost like blood orange on my screen.  Just beautiful.

  • Aida replied 8 years ago

Thanks so much ladies! I'm sorry for the very delayed reply, I had a hectic work deadline to meet. I appreciate all the great feedback about #2/3! Although perhaps it was a bit unfair to that first outfit to pair it in a post with the second ;)

Laurie, I agree about wearing more orange! Along with white it's my favorite color to wear. I've been scooping it up this season because, happily, my favorite deeply-saturated-and-red-leaning shades seem to be quite prevalent.

Sharan, black boots did come to mind as an option with the first outfit actually; they looked great with the jacketed version, but felt heavy without. At least for such a nice day! I was indeed thinking of the cognac as another "orange" shade, though can certainly see how it might not come across that way.

Rabbit, hey so nice to see you! I miss your clever outfits, hope everything is going well.

Stephanie, the sweater is a great "transitional" weight. I'm very comfortable in, worn sleeveless, it from 60-70F; I'll be wearing over a sheer blouse when the temps dip down into the 50s. I don't find the cowl overly warm either because it's soooo big that it stands/flops away from my neck. Worth a try, might be good for a FL winter!

Elizabeth, a good thought on the "weight" of the pieces in #1 -- It did feel a little seasonally confused with the jacket on (spot on, the pants are the light piece there), but felt quite nice without it since there was so much skin showing.

Angie, oooh! Love the bag, love the boots. Might have to get the boots :D Happy to reign over Kingdom Orange! I've bought several pieces this season, and am wearing this sweater again today ^^

  • Karie replied 8 years ago

Very nice - the sweater looks gorgeous on you and I'm loving the shorter length of the pants. Wear them while you can before the cold weather sets in!

  • Caro in Oz replied 8 years ago

So glad I logged in today :) You look fantastic Aida - I love the second outfit too. Taking notes on sporty boho too :)

  • Aida replied 8 years ago

Thank you Karie and Caro! :D

  • Stephanie replied 8 years ago

Thank you for the reminder to check back in - I am such a scatter brain :) That sounds good..I may need to pop into my local store and test it out.

  • CocoLion replied 8 years ago

I think you're the first fabber I'm seeing in a sleeveless knit turtleneck.  Really a fantastic look, and I love it with the black cropped skinnies.
