WIW 09.21 [seattle mini-meetup]

As Viva posted earlier, the Seattle mini-meetup this weekend was a lot of fun! Here's what I wore for the day, which ended up just right for breakfast but tooooo warm once the day was under way (it ended up in the 80s!). I had spent the whole prior week sick, so this was a big outing for me. Nothing like spending time with YLF friends to lift ones spirits!

With the whole just-having-been-sick thing, I was mostly concerned about feeling comfortable and cuddly. So I decided to wear slouchy linen BF pants and a cozy plaid flannel. Kept with the warm-toned thing and wore my cheetah wedge booties; my first thought was cognac booties, which I don't have, but I have to say I'm really pleased with the print and color mix that the cheetah provides. Accented with metals -- primarily gold, but really a mixed bag: silver/gold rings, gold belt/earrings, and rose gold watch/purse spikes. And finished everything off with a white purse (for some extra brightness), retro sunnies (for a touch of glam), and better-than-nude peachy lip balm (to keep things casually-natural). Felt perfectly comfortable and cuddly (and fab) in this ^^

[Though I think I upped the contrast a bit too high on the photos, this was actually quite a soft colored outfit. So imagine the whole thing a bit more muted ;) ]

As an aside, I did manage to make it to the salon to get my hair cut a few days prior. We changed the shape up a bit: still angled, though less severe, and moved the long bits back so they're closer to my shoulder with more shorter pieces in front. Also lots of really short layers up top which I don't usually do with longer cuts. Still getting used to it, but it's pretty fun so far! I'll try to get a better photo of it soon.

Comments, critiques, thoughts and questions welcome.

The cheetah booties really add an unexpected and interesting touch to this outfit. Your hair looks glorious as ever - it is hard to see the difference in these pictures. Glad you are feeling better. You certainly look fab!

Ooh leopard and plaid. Why have I never thought of that.
Looks good. As a healthcare worker I'm always jealous of your nails.

    Love it!

More love for cheetah and plaid! I thought I wanted cognac booties--now I'm not sure! You look amazing as usual! Great jewelry too!

Your whole outfit looks comfy and interesting. The cheetah with plaid is fun. Do the booties have whitish toes? You have the hair that I've always wanted.

Those boots are amazing, love them with the plaid, white and gold.

I've been browsing pins with plaid tops and leopard in shoes or a bag or pants, but the third color is usually black.  I really like this lighter version, looks very fresh.

What a fab combination of colors and patterns!  I really like your rings.  I am intrigued by the one worn higher up on your finger.  I've always wanted try one of those but worry that it would fall off too easily.  Do you find that it is problematic keeping it on, and does it get in the way of doing things with your hands?

Wow- nice! I'd cuddle you :) ( kidding ) Great boots- and I think the plaid /print boot pairing takes it out of predictable casual zone. Cognac is almost too obvious a pairing with plaid now, in my twisted mind . And love the top knuckle ring - you have lovely hands for this look.

Aida, you do these soft edge looks so well - Angie could have just explained the definition by pointing to you!  Love how this is the lightened up version of a tough look without being diluted.

Looks great! I love your haircut!

Great look. I like the red nails with the plaid shirt, and cheetah is an excellent cognac alternative!

This was so amazing in person -- I love that I can attest to that fact! You are a beautiful and warm person, Aida, and I am still so blown away by your talents. You look so lovely here. Your ability to combine grace and edge really sets you apart. That jewelry!!!! Killer.

Those cheetah booties read as cognac with a twist - and how brilliant to pair them with plaid! I love this right down to the last detail. Your hair looks really good as well. Hope you are truly on the mend - no fun to be sick all week.

I saw this killer outfit in person and loved it. And the new 'do is sublime, Aida. Like you, I LOVE to see light colours worn year round. I especially like the shirt and booties, and you know why. xo

I am in love with those booties and will be watching for other ways you style them! Would love to get some myself, but haven't quite figured out how I would work them in.

Thanks for the lovely comments, ladies! I'm pleased with how well the cheetah worked in lieu of actual cognac boots but, you know, I still want a pair. Luckily we can't have too many boots out here ;) The pair below is on their way to me, crossing fingers that they fit. Thanks also for the well wishes, I'm feeling much better!

Joy, you're right, the booties do have light creamy toes and also a lot of cream on the back and sides. That's a big part of what drew me to them; if they were solid orange underneath the cheetah print I don't think I'd wear them.

Rabbit, black is definitely a more common pairing with plaid+leo. I'm sure it's no surprise that I much prefer lighter shades like white, cream, tan, light gray, and faded denim when I wear the combo. Glad to hear it looks fresh, it certainly feels more cheerful.

Diana, the cross ring stays put pretty well unless I scrape my hand across something hard enough to drag it off (which I try not to do because, well, that hurts even if there's no ring on). I have other midi rings that are just the plain band like a normal ring, and those don't stay on nearly as well. Something about the crossed shape is nice and stable. I recently ordered the silver one below (it's still in the mail to me), similar style but longer.

Una, hah yes I'm a pretty good poster-child for soft edge ^^

Vivian, aw thank you for the extra sweet comment. It was such a treat to meet you and spend breakfast together!

Angie, those shared items are extra special to me <3

Aida, those skull rings are a-ma-zing. So cool! I wish my hair was as lovely and curly as yours. It looks so chic.

  • Angie replied 10 years ago

Fun and touching that we have quite a number of Shared Items, Aida. xo

  • fuzzylogic replied 10 years ago

So much going on here, Aida, but you wear it all so well!!!!  You really own this outfit! Bravo!

  • Inge replied 10 years ago

I echo Viva, it's just so fun to be able to say that your outfit was absolutely gorgeous irl, Aida:-) Brilliant pattern mixing, and the soft colour palette is so flattering against your beautiful skin. Your hair looks fantastic, and I forgot to say how cool your nails and rings looked.

It was a treat meeting you, and I can't wait to chat more this weekend.

P.S. What do you think of this J.Crew coat in hthr tigerlilly. Not orange enough maybe?

Thank you very much ladies! :D

Inge, oooh that color is pretty delicious looking! It does look very similar to the Vibrant Flame shade I liked, perhaps this is a bit more muted. I wonder if I could find something else in the shade at a store to see if the orange is a good one for me? Looks like it's sold out in my size (range), but I will keep my eye on it in case something comes back in.

The outfit is amazing, as always. You wear plaid to perfection.
The nails and rings look so much fun and the peek of giant hoop earrings from your hair is beautiful.
The hair looks great too. Eagerly waiting to see the close up pics of the new do.

  • sparlingo replied 10 years ago

Oh, I have so much love for this look! I don't think I'd change a thing if I were to wear it myself. You look wonderful.

  • Aida replied 10 years ago

    Thank you Mona and Sparlingo!
