WIW 08.28 [sporty + hard]

While it's definitely cooling down, I'm still on my mini mission to give my summer faves one last hurrah. But this morning I was at a total blank for what that piece should be -- we've had a far warmer and longer than usual summer and, for once, I feel like I got all the wear from my summer clothes that I wanted! So today I pulled out a sleeveless top that seems to only get worn in the fall due to its dark and moody coloring, and paired it with my silk slouchy cargo crops. The top feels extra sporty here, though I've never thought of it as a sporty top; I think it's a combination of being fitted, jersery, and black+brights.

After yesterday's sweet-tough outfit I was feeling like a sporty/hard mix so I popped on some older charcoal booties. This outfit is a bit harder-edge than I usually go these days, though I used to dress more like this in the past so it's not at all uncomfortable. Hair up and small triangle studs to play into the sporty vibe. Then to counter the sportiness/hardness, I chose a soft pink lipstick and a new watercolor print clutch. A bit of a jarring juxtaposition, but I like that about it; in a softer way it also picks up on the print in the top, which has a more discrete painterly vibe.

well of course this is totes adorbs, to quote MaryK.  But don't those little ties hanging down bug you?  I always think it's a bug on my leg.  Have stopped wearing any clothing with a tie.  What a fab shirt pattern that is.

Love the top and the hard edge look (mostly from the shoes and colors) combined with the somewhat bodycon top and pretty bag. Irregular juxtaposition for (another) win!

Fashion Forward Pattern Mixing. You are ready for Sept Fashion Week.

A little more hard edge than usual, but of course, you look as fabulous, Aida. Glad you got in that last bit of Summer pizazz. Autumn arrived this morning. xo

You look great!  I love the booties with the capris.  Summer is my favorite season so I'm not looking forward to it ending.  Luckily I should have another couple months of warm days although the nights will start cooling down soon.

Ha! I have the Exact Same Top!  It's hanging in the small "tops to wear before cold weather" hook as I'm on the same mission as you. I love the colors, feel and print of the top but I feel it's too dark for summer but then it's sleeveless too, I think fall will be perfect to wear it too, with a little jacket. You look beautiful and just tough enough, love the lil' clutch.

OK, those booties are beyond cool! Great outfit. I love those crops every time you wear them. The colors of the top really go well with your natural coloring.

How fun to be eclectic! You can make yourself over as often as you want. :)

What a great idea! Fantastic way to be wearing cropped slouchy cargos. May I copy? I find your outfits very inspiring this weekend, and love the juxtapositions of adjectives you come up with to describe them.

Thanks for the comments ladies and I'm sorry for getting back to this so late, was out of town for the weekend!

Una, the strings don't bother me too much since I'm mostly indoors for work. Though I'm like you when I wear them when primarily outside, thinking they're bugs. I do have one casual pair with ties for outside time, I just tie them up without letting the ends dangle enough to hit my calves!

Gracie, oh how fun :D I too like to wear this top with a light jacket in the fall, the neckline layers quite nicely underneath collars. Hope you're able to get a few more wears out of yours, too.

Gigi, interestingly enough with the eclectic tastes feeling "right" in an outfit changes daily! I definitely have to be in the mood to wear whatever it is I'm wearing that day, or I'll feel off and fussy. This is why planning outfits ahead of time rarely works for me -- If I'm not in the right mood that day, no matter how fabulous the outfit is, I'll feel bad.

Krish, of course copy away! I can totally picture you in a sportier version of this.
