WIW 07.07, 08, 14,15 (casual weekend outfits)

Since I knew I would be cutting my hair, I decided to wear my hair up the two weekends prior and down all the week before (those outfits coming soon!). So here are some casual weekend outfits, all with hair up! Looking back I probably should've gotten in one more fanned bun, going to be a while before that happens again.

#1-3 Saturday morning (07.07). Took the boat out on the Sound for the first time this season, water was a bit choppy but still manageable. We'd planned to boat over to a nearby island city and dock then go to breakfast, but TONS of other people had the same idea so it was too full! On our way back to the marina, we saw a stalled boat flagging for help and towed them in. It was a Big Adventure :) The day was HOT and there were no clouds whatsoever, so I used a hat and scarf to get extra cover from the sun (have you ladies met my straw cowboy hat? I usually wear it when lounging outside in the summer).

#4 Saturday evening (07.07). After the boat outing we had a bunch of friends over to eat some BBQ, hang out by the fire pit, and brew some beer. I changed out of the boating outfit into something a little nicer (but still super casual), and when it cooled down at night swapped the shorts for straight leg jeans. I am loving how these boots look with shorts!

#5 Sunday (07.08). Worn out for breakfast, otherwise spent the day gardening and doing housework. This soft coral jacket has clearly become my go-to weekend jacket.

#6 Saturday (07.14). Hubby and I went up to Arlington for their annual air show/fly-in which his grandparents, who are visiting from Arizona, help staff each year (I wore the black dress for dinner with them the week before). I'd originally planned on wearing the outfit from #5, but at the last minute changed; I underestimated how hot it would be ("Pfff there's no way it'll get up over 80F, Mr. Weatherman"), and was very very warm!

#7 Sunday (07.15). The day before the Big Cut! Hadn't planned on getting dressed, but needed to run to the grocery store and I lost at rock-paper-scissors ;) So I popped this jacket on over my lounge tee and swapped my flannel pants for jeans+heels. Easy peasy, and still looks decent!

Only you could look so fab in a cowboy hat Aida! These are great casual outfits. I especially love #5 and #7 - I think that coral jacket is just positively stunning on you. And those boots do indeed look great with shorts.

You live a very full and rich life and I'm still stuck on the "beer brewing" part of your story. What fun! All your shorts attire looks are so cute and "hello" straw cowboy hat! You'll be cute with Aida's shorter locks, too!

Love the way you adapt to changes in the weather and I love the coral jacket. Who makes it? I really like it with the black and white top in 5. Another great week!

Your weekend adventures are so much fun - they are spiriting me away from my desk at the moment... ah, feel that fresh air...

Love love love all your shorts outfits - I happen to have 2 very similar straw cowboy hats for swap meet sun protection. And aren't the Report booties the best? You did a great job enjoying your long hair before The Big Chop!

I still love that coral jacket. What a find!

LOVING #4 and #5!!! That's how denim short shorts should fit to my eye. Not too short and too tight. Sooooooooo flattering, Aida. KILLER. (Rae does a fab job with her denim short shorts fit too).

I'm still recovering from the short shorts so will be back to comment on the rest.

Comments: you look terrific in each outfit. I especially love the combination in #5. Thoughts: I love how much fun you have and how much time you spend with your family and friends. You really know what is important at an age where I was still working it out.

I just love that coral jacket - it does make everything look good!
I am a bit envious that you live so close to the ocean and can spend time there without a long ride. I grew up on a sea shore and lived there until age of 30 when we moved to Canada to a very inland London. I still miss the smell and breeze from the sea...

Fab outfits! I really love the pic of you on the boat--too cute and fun! You wear cuffed shorts so well--adorable! I love that coral jacket on you. I can see why you reach for it a lot.

So awesome! I especially love 4 and 5! Wow, you can pull off those shorts.

You have such a spunky, fantastic casual style! Love the boots and short look, but all of them are great!

  • Amy replied 11 years ago

Love the cowboy hat. You're so spunky...and boy, do you know how to have a good time. I'm still smitten with that red jacket too.

  • AJ replied 11 years ago

See cowboys and cowgirls are known for rescuing those in need! Luv your cowboy hat and braid! Did you add a floral scarf to the hat? The pop of the aqua skinny belt to go with it is a great finishing touch. Do you worry about those sandals getting wet?

Photo 3 is just too cute!

    Luv that coral jacket!

Awesome shorts inspiration, Aida! I love all of these although the coral jacket in 5 with the striped top and shorts is just to die for! You look fab!

  • CocoLion replied 11 years ago

Love your short-shorts outfits and the last one with the long lean straights! You look sweet and chic.

    Super Like all :)

Aida, all our fab outfits. You do casual so well. It with flair and such style.

Thanks for all the great comments, ladies :D I am quite moved by all the comments about having fun and enjoying life, hubby and I definitely subscribe to that idea 100%. Plus when there's good weather on the weekends, we must make the most of it since much of the year is rainy ;)

Vicki, the jacket is from a Dress Barn outlet, not sure if it's something they still have.

Rae, I was so happy it got hot enough for short shorts! It's going to be hot this weekend too, so they're definitely coming out to play. Wearing silky short shorts today :D

Angie, yay thank you! I must say I LOVED wearing #4, that's one of my favorite outfits this summer.

Shevia, thank you for your thoughts, I really appreciate them. Life is better when there's family and friends involved :)

Sveta, ohh that would make me sad! Part of the reason we bought our house so far from the city was because we could walk to the beach, and drive just a few minutes to the boat launch. I've lived near the ocean my whole life and can't imagine living somewhere landlocked. Hopefully you do some seaside vacationing!!

AJ, the straw hat has a bright orange printed headband thingie; it came with the hat and I liked it so I left it on! I do swap it out for scarves occasionally, though. I don't worry too much about the sandals, they're cheapies from Target :D Definitely need shoes that won't fly off your feet when boating!

And what caught my eye was the gingham top worn with oh-so-sophisticated strappy sandals. :o) Love those touches.

I loved the outfits too, but everybody else has already covered the specifics.

  • Aida replied 11 years ago

    Thanks, JR!

Your casual vibe is anything but Aida. I always love seeing the beautiful sophistication you bring to it.
