WIW 06.21-23

The rest of the outfits from two weeks ago! I know I usually post a full week at a time, but I split this one up so I could include some fun bonus photos :D

#1 - Thursday, worn to work. Well this was the one (yes one) warm day of the week, temps in the mid 70s. I was in the mood to wear shorts, and true to my soft dressing as well as wear-less-jeans direction, I chose these silky shorts over my colorful denim pairs and paired with my new-and-already-beloved printed sweater. Short shorts generally require flat footwear for me, and these loafers have definitely become my go-to flats this season! I almost always wear slouchy tops with these shorts, I think I'm going to try something a bit sleeker next time.

#2 - Friday, worn to work then out for date night. It cooled off 15 degrees from the previous day, so layering was most definitely in order! A few weeks ago I wore this skirt with long black leggings, an artier look than I normally do, and it got such a positive response that I decided to wear it again. This time around I chose cropped leggings and a slouchy turquoise sweater, because the sudden change in weather was making me feel really glum. And this new pendant which jingles softly whenever I move also helped to cheer me up.

#3 - Saturday, worn out for lunch with my sister and hubby. It is rare that I wear the same top two days in a row (really really rare), but I needed a quick outfit and this sweater was on top of the pile ;) Layered over the white tank I was wearing earlier (see below), and hair tossed into a messy bun for a slouchy-sporty vibed outfit.

#4-6 - Also Saturday! My sis came over to do a mini photo shoot of me and her cute doggie Pooka for a homework assignment. The weather was very misbehaved. It was sunny while we came up with our plan for the day, so I put on my white jeans (still undebuted) and a blush silky top.... But by the time we were ready to shoot it started POURING and my jeans got all muddy (boo). I was also scolded for not owning a bright and cheerful trench (I never found my double-breasted cobalt trench this season *sniffle*) nor a bright and cheerful umbrella (she's lucky I even had THIS one!). Anyway, for fun here are some of the photos we took; #4 is the one my sis ended up turning in, and #6 is about how goofy I am most of the time ^^

Before I discuss your outfits Aida, I have to say I LOVE the picture of you and puppy in #4! The combination of the bright green in the background with the wet road, your black outfit and puppy's bright yellow rain jacket makes for a fantastic photo. And your bubble blowing pics are fab!

Now - to the clothes. Love your shirt in #1 - perfect for semi tucking and the loafers are perfect with the shorts. I'm a new convert to loafers so enjoy seeing these looks for inspiration.

  • Ornella replied 11 years ago

    #4 is some ad, right?
    Just.
    Plain.
    Awesome.

Let me recover from that first.

  • Vicki replied 11 years ago

Aida, I'm sitting in the car here, having just had a frozen yogurt, and I just had to post to say how adorable, beautiful, fun, zany, stylish and bright you are! Your sister could teach the class; her photos of you are so fresh and wonderful. You must tell me about your lipstick in the last photo. It is such a soft and pretty pink against your skin.

All your outfits are perfect for your summer days and changing weather and I'm really drawn to #2. It's perfect for going from work to date night and I love the arty flair. Love the submitted photo of you with the little one in the rain and gorgeous isn't a strong enough word to describe your beauty in the last two. May I hire your sister for a photo shoot? Both of you really capture a mood! ;)

  • rae replied 11 years ago

WOWEE the photo shoot is too. darned. cute! I think the black outfit was actually *perfect* because the dog stands out as a little ray of sunshine. Fab and more fab. And the bubbles! She really captured your fun personality.

Aren't you glad you got photographic evidence of the sun and yourself in a pair of shorts? I've been missing your short shorts this year!

  • Isabel replied 11 years ago

Holy cow...those mini shoot photos are just amazing !!! You are just stunning in them ( well you are anyway....)

I love the outfits. You look really good in that blue.

  • Diana replied 11 years ago

First off, the photoshoot photos are AMAZING. Your sister is clearly a talented photographer and you are so photogenic!

Love all the outfits as well. I really like where your soft dressing is going - all those soft, slightly slouchy layers are so fantastic. Your long pendant necklaces in 2 and 3 are so fab too.

I'm going to remember #1 for inspiration for my black silky shorts!

  • Aida replied 11 years ago

Thanks for the lovely comments ladies! Glad you're enjoying the mini photo shoot pictures, they were fun to do. My husband graciously helped us with the technical camera stuff, and it was very nice to be able to use his photography equipment :)

Shannon, your new cream loafers are SUPERB and I can't wait to see how you get them worked into rotation. They'll probably work well for both work and weekend outfits, and especially with faded denim or bold graphic looks.

Vicki, the lip color in the bubble photos is Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter (a tinted lip balm) in the shade "Sweet Tart". I would call it classically Barbie pink, and it layers pretty well. I don't wear it very often because it POPS quite a lot, and I'm more used to orange or red lips on myself than pink. Glad you like it!

Rae, I miss the short shorts too! Our summer weather usually starts in July and goes through September; we have some warmer weather forecasted finally so hopefully I can soon bust them out more. I have a new bright green linen pair I've been dying to wear!

Diana, soft for me is most definitely including a lot of slouch! I am really loving slouchy with bright colors at the moment.

  • Jaime replied 11 years ago

The picture of you and the puppy is gorgeous. All three of the outfits are fab - I like the slouchy purple blouse and the blue is a great color on you. But #4 should be framed.

  • sarah replied 11 years ago

Well, I hope sis gets an A+ on her homework! She deserves it! And you are so adorable and fun : )

Great (1/2) week! I just love in that skirt and leggings : )

  • Kari replied 11 years ago

    Oh my gosh puppy...

    ...

Okay, recovering enough to focus on the clothes. I LOVE the top in #1, but the streamlined outfit in #3 is my favorite!

Your bubble blowing pictures are so cute. Say hi to your sister for me!

  • Kiwichik replied 11 years ago

Woweee great outfits. Love the pendants and Pooka is so cute.

  • ManidipaM replied 11 years ago

Ok, about that last set of photos, you are AT LEAST as cute as Pooka! :-D And I too think it's great you're in all-black because the focus is now firmly on your face and the doggy, whose neon jacket really pops against the black. I LOVE big black umbrellas, though, so I'm clearly biased.

For the 'regular' non-modelling outfits, I adore #1 above all --- that great print and those gorgeous colours of top and bag, the loafers with those cute shorts. Perfectly on-trend, and entirely true-to-form Aida. Also loving your collection of pendants that move and jingle --- did you deliberately echo the checked skirt with the squares, or was that a happy accident? So fab!

  • replied 11 years ago

Wow, I want to just keep looking at these photos over and over!

I love the green bag with the purply blouse in #1, and you have the cutest legs!

The arty look is definitely working for you in #2. Love the long necklace, the leggings, the whole thing!

It's great to see the versatility of the top in #3.

You made a beautiful model for your sister! Too bad you don't live closer to me, I would have loaned you my Marimekko umbrella. Like others have said, you look like a magazine ad. I'll take whatever you're selling, I'll take ten, thanks!

What a fun and inspiring post!

  • Tanya replied 11 years ago

Oh my goodness! Photo #4 is absolutely stunning! So are #5 and #6. What wonderful pictures, and the doggy is too cute for words.

Now that I have recovered, I can look at your outfits. They are all great, and I especially like #2 - love that shade of blue on you.

  • Angie replied 11 years ago

I need to recover from photo #4 first. Good grief. It's KILLER to the power of KILLER. I am moved by both Pooka and you. WOW!!! I love it!!

That dark turquoise in #2 and #3 has got to be one pf your best colours! More WOW! Those outfits are solid 10s. Loving your leggings looks, Aida. They look hip and fab :)

And high five for being one of the few who prefer wearing closed shoes for Summer, along with Inge, me and Manidipa. My slipper flats have become my go to shoes for Summer too :)

    *still recovering*

  • Beth Ann replied 11 years ago

What a fun shoot! I love the way the background glistens from the rain. Which would be so refreshing in the middle of both a heatwave and a drought! I'm also partial to your mid-tone blues. These are ideal hues for you!

  • Nadya replied 11 years ago

Aida: I think the tuquoise sweater and skirt outfit may be my favorite outfit of yours ever, and that is saying a LOT! Thanks for sharing the modeling shots - the one with the bubble has a fabulous playful glamour. All great pics!

  • Carole replied 11 years ago

Love your outfits especially 2 and 3. And your sister is very talented, I just love the photo of you and your puppy, looks like you ripped it out of a magazine. And the bubble shots, love that, too.

  • christieanne replied 11 years ago

Not sure where to even begin!

The rainy day with puppy picture is straight out of magazine ad - very nicely done! I love the bubble pictures too - frame worthy!

That turquoise sweater would be one of my favorites (can you give details?) if I had it in my closet. Perfect color for you and pairs so well with the skirt/leggings. Amazing.

Summer is overrated - just ask our friends in the East and Midwest! Fun to bring shorts out but at least we aren't wilting :)

  • replied 11 years ago

OMG you are quite the model, Aida! You and the puppy are super-fab and your sister is quite the photographer! I will have to wait to see those white jeans. Boo. I hope the mud came out!

  • MsMary replied 11 years ago

Team #4 Is The Cutest Photo Ever In The History Of The World.

    *swoon*

  • Ornella replied 11 years ago

Back to say I absolutely adore the outfit in #3 and I actually have similar top, in purple, that I'll use to copy you :-)
    #2 is awesome too...

  • jayne replied 11 years ago

4 is a great photo! so cool!

and I am thinking to sneak over and eh hem, borrow, that top in 1. Just need it for a year or two....

  • morethanbeige replied 11 years ago

I did a mental gasp when I saw #4. Awesome on different levels. I love the variety in your looks. You can wear multi-layered or simple streamlined and it all looks great. Very creative!

  • Aida replied 11 years ago

WOW ladies, thank you all so much for the wonderful comments on the mini photo shoot (and also the outfits), I'm floored!! I will be sure to share the love with my sister and her cutie Pooka. My husband is also very fond of #4, so we will probably print it at some point :D

Manidipa, ooh good eye! I didn't match the squares on the pendant to the checks deliberately, just wanted the soft jingle; but I do things like that without thinking about it quite often, so I must realize it on some level ;)

Alicat, your cute Marimekko umbrella would have been perfect! I am now considering getting a colorful umbrella just in case, even though I rarely use them; those exceptionally rainy days can always use some extra brightness! And thanks for the cute legs compliment, I'm always working to make them look longer that I often don't step back and just appreciate them for what they are. Thanks for making me do so!

Angie, I am positive that you would just love Pooka, she is super friendly, and SO VERY full of happy energy! I'm glad to hear that you think my leggings looks are modern; I feel like many have moved away from them so that is a concern of mine, especially as I actually hope to incorporate them more in the fall. And I'm looking forward to seeing an outfit with your sequin/print slipper flats, they look divine! I haven't found my perfect cracked gold pair yet.

Christieanne, I agree that it's worth the cool weather to not have the extreme temperatures much of the country is suffering (hubby disagrees, heh). The turquoise sweater is from a LOFT outlet back in April, but they might still have them as it was a new item back then.

Claire, the jeans washed just fine (yay!) but seem to either have grown or else I shrunk. So I am not the slightly annoyed owner of baggy skinny white jeans ;) I did finally get to wear them this weekend, so you'll see 'em soon!

  • greenglove replied 11 years ago

I am also fainting over the photo with the umbrella. She gets an A for sure. I also love the bubble photos- you are so photogenic!!
You need to wear white with fuchsia or red lipstick more often, it is a great look for you!
I adore the blue top and the leggings outfit is perfection.
i am now looking forward to pulling out my leggings again.
I also love the soft shorts and printed top.
You are so hip, glam and pulled together. Bravo!!!

  • Aida replied 11 years ago

Thank you so much for your detailed and lovely comment, Jean! I will keep the idea of wearing a white outfit with a bright red or pink lip in mind for sure, that's a fabulous idea. Looking forward to seeing your leggings outfits for fall :D

  • Katiepea replied 11 years ago

You are one incredibly awesome, stylish, inspiring woman. My jaw is still on the floor over that collection of shots. AMAZING!

  • Aida replied 11 years ago

Aw thanks KP! Nice to see you, too :D
