WIW 06.07 [from yardwork to errands]

Hello ladies, hope you are having a great weekend! Most of Saturday was spent doing mucky yardwork, but I did need to run out briefly to the hardware and grocery. Another good test of my still-developing active-casual weekend capsule (thanks for the name, Mo!).

Out in the yard I was wearing the hat and tank along with basketball shorts and sandals; to run the errands I popped on the denim jacket and swapped out the bottom half, which wasn't too much additional work because I had to wash my legs and feet off before heading out anyway. These new faded skinnies are sibling to the white pair I wore last week, but a size up for an even further relaxed fit. Is it odd looking to roll with the ankle zips? The zippers are really flexible so they roll up quite easily. I'm getting a bit more used to seeing my feet in sneakers, though even this rather slim low-profile pair feels chunky to me. And I don't have a good really casual bag for my weekend capsule yet, so out came my big emerald tote. Minimal accessorizing here, just my white leather-band watch and a swipe of cherry lip gloss. Felt sufficiently polished casual ^^

I vote there is no end to your super cute adorableness. My word - I can eat you up, Aida.

You'll soon love sneaks on your feet - promise. xo

Great outfit for yardwok and errands. Glad that the sneaks are seeing a lot of use. Thanks for sharing.

Looking good, Aida! I don't think the tennis shoes look chunky at all, but I suppose it will take your eye time to adjust. I own only one pair of tennies, and they are chunky ones with lots of support for exercising, not simply for walking around. So I can understand that you would feel the change in shoe silhouette keenly!

I don't think the zippered ankles look strange rolled. I didn't even notice it until you mentioned it, in fact.

I love the cropped jacket! I think that really takes the outfit to a dressier level.

Whoops didn't mean to yay/nay, was trying to show in blog ^^ Thank you Angie, I just need to wear them more I think. The pale yellow slip-on pair below should arrive tomorrow morning which I really hope works, too.

    Thanks Mona!

Gigi, ah yeah I know there are certainly actual chunky sneakers out there but I always wear super low-profile refined shoes so even a little bit of that wide white sole feels like a whole lot on me. Proper athletic shoes really give me trouble! But I only wear those for exercise so it's not too bad ;)

This is all kinds of wonderful!! You look so adorable in that hat with your mischievous smile. Love it!

Also love the soft blues and greys. The sneakers look terrific to my eye.

Perfect for your weekend capsule! The soft colors are really lovely.

    Love the hat!

  • Karie replied 9 years ago

I love this! That hat is all kinds of fabulous!

  • Kristin L replied 9 years ago

Great relaxed capsule. You look great in those softer colors!

Fresh and fabulous and what a great hat!  Sneakers don't look chunky at all, they look a bit loose at the top, maybe lacing them a bit snugger would narrow them? Maybe your looking down at the horizontal lines of the laces are giving you the impression of more width?

  • Aida replied 9 years ago

Thanks ladies! This is one of the few hats I have, and I don't wear it as much as I probably should. Also, great observations on the light and soft colors -- that probably played a big role in my happy factor.

Gracie, I don't mind horizontal lines much. The laces need to be left loose like that because I have very high insteps, if it were any narrower the shoe would pinch. It's more an issue of the thick white soles; same issue I have with platform shoes for myself. I just like my shoes to be as low profile as possible.

I enjoyed reading how you turned your gardening outfit into an errands outfit without needing to completely change your clothes. I do a lot of gardening and know how grubby my clothes can become out there! Your hat and crop jacket look super cute on you.

Well, even though you didn't want yay or nay, I gave a big yay anyway! Great outfit, and I like how you switched out parts for different activities. I do that a lot, too. But I don't do yard work--haha! Fun hat, and the jacket just totally makes the look for me, for your grocery run.

Oh, and I didn't notice the zippers, either, so they seem to work just fine rolled.

Yay hat! The jeans look perfect rolled up with the light blue sneakers.

Fun casual outfit! You put your own spin on it and it's perfect for you! I didn't even notice the zippers - totally works! Love the green bag!

You look great--I love the mix of soft pale colors!

    YOU ARE SO HUGGABLE!  (hug)

  • AJ replied 9 years ago

The denim jacket and hat adds all sorts of awesome pizazz!

Just a few minutes gardening in my area turns me into a hot drippy mess. I could never garden and run errands in the same day! :)

  • Aida replied 9 years ago

Thank you ladies, glad my partial switcheroo worked well :)

    Una, woo! ^^ *hugs back*

AJ, if it were that hot here I'd definitely swap the whole outfit to run out!

I hope you won't be offended if I say you look as cute as a button :) You look great in the hat Aida and your jeans have rolled perfectly. Your fab cropped topper is a great choice. YLF!

  • Aida replied 9 years ago

No offense taken of course, thanks Di ^^

Kinda Nashville punk. Of course I love it.

  • Aida replied 9 years ago

Rachy, hah yes it does have that vibe (esp. with Vans, at least to me -- that was the skater punk shoe of choice out here). Anything-Punk is pretty OK in my book ;)
