WIW 06.03 [plaid and white]

After some nice sunny weather, we've got some clouds passing through for a couple of days. This is a favorite pairing for this plaid shirt -- with white jeans and light shoes. I've worn the combo previously with my gold smoking slippers, white pointy pumps, and cream booties. This iteration makes me equally happy; I really like how the light gray suede adds a little extra texture and color dimension, plus with the open heel it feels a bit more summery (even when the weather doesn't look it). With the ankle interest (cropped pants with zippers + shoe straps) I kept the rest of the outfit simple, opting to leave the oversized plaid shirt untucked to play further into the cropped proportions. Added giant gold hoops and sequined clutch for a touch of sass-and-glam, and orange lip gloss for a little extra color differentiation.

These new white jeans (and their faded blue sibling I also bought) are the first pair of properly fitting skinnies I've worn in years (!!) as me shrinking had caused all of my previously properly fitting skinny jeans to become baggy/slouchy skinny jeans over the past few years. Which actually worked out nicely with those fits trending. However, I've been wanting to update a couple of them to relaxed skinnies for a more streamlined fluid look, especially in white since I wear white often; plus this slimmer white pair will work much better in fall/winter tucked into tall boots than my other slouchy straight leg pair does. A very welcome addition to my denim wardrobe! Now I can wear 2x as many white jean outfits ^^

Fab as always Aida! Just picked up white and very faded blue skinnies today, and did think of you as I don't know anyone IRL loving faded denim the way I am these days. I love your unexpected (to me) styling.

Love plaid with white! This is a great combination. I really like the fit of those skinnies on you.

Those skinnies were made for you and look fantastic with your white ankle-strap pumps and plaid shirt.  I like the gold jewelry with this outfit too.

I like the way your ankle strap pumps meet with the hemline of your white skinnies. The plaid shirt lends an air of playfulness to the outfit!

Those skinnies work perfectly with those shoes. They are skinnies but not the skin tight variety and they look great. And your hair is just gorgeous!

The new jeans are perfect with the perfect new shoes! Do you find the shoes comfortable as Angie does? Hope so. I also love the plaid. First pants, now shirt....you are singlehandedly changing all my (silly) fixed ideas about plaid being a "fall" pattern.

Thanks for the lovely comments and also the feedback about the skinnies! They photographed a bit more snug due to them being white, but I'm very happy with their lightly-relaxed fit ^^

Jules, how interesting that no one near you is into the faded denim. I don't think it ever went away where I live, but maybe not for the case of being fab ;)

Suz, yes the shoes are quite comfortable! I think it'll take me a little longer than Angie to get them to mold to my feet (I don't do as much walking nor as quickly), but so far so good. I'm always happy to encourage more plaid wearing in all seasons -- if I could only wear one pattern, it would be any kind of check :D

You look amazing! I love this outfit on you so much. The skinnies are absolutely perfect with those shoes and fit you SO well. Yes, you look very trim - did you go on a diet or just worked out more? Very practical that you can use the older pants for the slouchy fit.

This one beats all your recent outfits! Amazing (gorgeous) hair to (pointy) toe.

So good! The plaid looks so fresh and un-lumberjack-y with the white jeans (although you know I love a lumberjack look, too). Jealous that you have been shrinking; I've gone the other way, lol. Hm, I miss wearing plaid...

I can duplicate this outfit by shopping my closet. I love it Aida - biased of course. Those zippered white skinnies are the perfect fit and length with the ankle straps.

SO FUN TO HAVE YOU BACK. Missed you so much. xo

Another great outfit, Aida. White skinnies are spot on and these grey ankle pumps look too fabulous.

  • Isabel replied 9 years ago

Just awesome. Who would think that a plaid shirt could look so "summery" and light ?  WOW.  And the PPL is just.perfect.

I love this! (as usual :)). I like the fact that the plaid is a very light coloured one and looks great with your new skinnies. Your jeans are a fab length with your shoes and I like the attention to detail of the tint of your sunnies toning with your shirt. Fab eye for detail!

Aw ladies thanks so much! I actually debated heavily with myself about keeping the jeans but am ultimately glad that I did, and it's nice to hear forum approval for them since I was soooo unsure. And more than happy to burst the idea of plaid only for fall, I say More Plaid For All :D

Chouette and Rae, I've actually been this size for a good while now but my brain just hadn't caught up due to partially to oversized fits and partially to the weight loss being long term and gradual (totally revamped diet + exercise, it was more of a lifestyle change than anything). It's taken me a long time to adjust; I don't think I'm all the way there, though certainly an improvement over where my mind was last year when I first recognized it was happening.

Angie, you could actually pull 2/3 in exact items from your closet! Which makes me smile ^^

who would think that plaid could look so upscale?

  • Aida replied 9 years ago

Thanks QG! I'm all for upscale plaid ^^

You make plaid so - dare I say? - pretty. With white and heels it's a whole different PNW look. Love it.

  • Aida replied 9 years ago

Una, I totally accept the compliment as that is just what I was going for -- Pretty Punk :)

Wow, what a fabulous way to do plaid! I usually have somewhat of a poison eye for plaid shirts.
