WIW 05.26-29

Well, I'm a bit behind but still wanted to share :)

  1. Worn to work. Trying to use some of what I learned in the art challenge; mixing teal shoes with a mustard necklace when I would normally sport only one color. Also gold bag with silver belt and a little black+brown.
  2. Worn out shopping the Nordstrom Half Yearly Sale (also hit the Rack, LOFT, and Urban Outfitters). Loot in this thread. I was happy to receive several compliments from strangers :D
  3. Worn to hang out with an out of town friend: out for breakfast, out for lunch, then in the evening had lots of friends over for dinner/chilling by the fire pit.
  4. Took the boat out for the first time, out on Lake Washington. It was a lot of fun as you can tell by my laughing photo ;) Found this to be the perfect use for the moto-sweatshirt. Later, we went over to a friend's to watch some movies and hang some more with my out of town friend.

Comments, critiques, thoughts and questions welcome.

Yea! I was wondering when we'd get some boat pics :) You look as fab as ever (I was worried that you'd 'nerdy' up your style in preparation for your Microsoft interview!)

Aida, I love your WIWs, because they always look so effortless and yet the more I look at them there is such detail and thought put into each outfit. These are no exception. You look fantastic! My favorite here is #2 and I even made a sound when the picture popped up. You look so dazzling and cool; you look like a movie star! You exude such confidence!

Sweet looks! I am really digging your vested look and also the last one with the white sweater layered over the button shirt. I am waiting on a vest to come back from the tailor, can't wait to try out some looks with it.

PS- your hubbie is cute too :)

Gorgeous, Aida! You really have found your style groove. I love them all--especially the cropped blazer with the black skinnies. Super sweet. I love the teal pumps in the first outfit too--good for you for making a conscious effort to tweak your look. I've never looked as good as you do on a boat--that's for sure. Personally, I find those flotation vests difficult to accessorize.

Loving the boating outfit. Moto sweatshirt = crizazy! All jackets should be make of sweatshirt material. :)

Yay look at that happy boat photo, what fun! A great set of outfits here, I am a tad partial to #2 but that's probably because I'm a big fan of blazers. I really like the teal mixed in for outfit #1 as well, it's a nice touch of color but it doesn't not overwhelm the outfit, nice job!

I like the moto sweatshirt in #4. I've been looking for something similar for awhile now. I like #2 too, it's looks perfect for a day spent shopping. I have a similar long necklace that I should probably wear more often.

Very wel done as always. Outfit 2 is so pretty.
Those teal heels and white boots are just beautiful.

Me again - speaking of the Microsoft interview, when do we get to see the interview outfit?!

  • Suz replied 12 years ago

Love the outfits and love the way your carry yourself throughout! My favourite is the boat and apres-boat. Cute vest, too!

  • Heather replied 12 years ago

Aida, I love them all!!! The boat photo is my favorite. Keys to the boat-check. Coffee-Check. Cute outfit-Check! xx

    Thanks ladies :D

Girl X - No nerding up here (I've got plenty of that in my brain already hehe)! I'll post my interview outfit soon, promise!

morethanbeige - Thanks very much! That is exactly what I try for, I'm glad it comes across. Since I use fashion as a creative outfit I'm always interested in incorporating levels of detail just as I would in artwork, even if it's not all visible at first glance. I don't always succeed, but it's one of my goals :)

Kelly - I've been bad and haven't been wearing my floaty vest, but it is a lovely blue with tropical flowers. You can kind of see it in the cabin under the black vest. I'll get a shot of me in it next time, see how well I can fashion an outfit around it hehe

You are so photogenic, Aida, fantastic pictures! I always love a good stripe, so outfit 1 is a favourite for me and I love the fun gingham shirt peeking out from under your sweater in picture 4:-)

  • Jonesy replied 12 years ago

Great looks! I love the boat shots, personally :). Your after-boating outfit is fab too! I think you look really good in white, and the blue and white gingham peeking out is really cute.

  • Freckles replied 12 years ago

What a lovely array of styles and you always look so sure of yourself in your own skin. That is what we all stive for I imagine.

  • Sveta replied 12 years ago

Aida, it is always a treat to see your posts. They all great but #1 steals my heart...There is something about semi-tucket boxy striped sweater that is very alluring here...and of course teal shoes!

  • Aida replied 12 years ago

Thank you for all the lovely comments, ladies! :D

  • rute replied 12 years ago

Love! my favorite is 2! Those nude pumps are lovely!

Aida, it is so clear that you have the mind of an engineer from your WIWs - everything is so well-thought-out, but somehow you don't see anything but the overall effect: the perfect merger of form and function.

  • Aida replied 12 years ago

    Thanks Rute and Una!

Una - It's weird, right? I'm VERY happy to be at a point where the engineering side provides the underlying knowledge/detail orientation while the artsy side is free to come up with outfit ideas without being overly burdened by "rules", though the attention to detail will always be there. It has been quite the balancing achievement. I think this is probably why I end up on Team Polished But Slouchy ><

Since your outfits exude the expected levels of fabness, all I'm going to comment on is that a.w.e.s.o.m.e necklace in no.2 and my favorite photo of this lot - you driving that boat. Your joy can almost be touched.

  • Aida replied 12 years ago

Thank you Ornela! It was my first time ever driving a boat, it is not quite the same as a car and the blast of wind is certainly more fun :) Though don't let me fool you, I was going super slow because I was terrified; not sure of what, it's not like there are other boats near by for me to run into, hehe! This photo was taken just after my husband convinced me to gun it ^^
