WIW 05.16 [YLF Seattle meetup + little updates]

Hello ladies! It's been a while, my apologies; work has been extra busy and then I managed to injure a tendon in my dominant hand which restricted computer time to work only for a good while. Work continues to be busy but at least I can freely use my hand again! Here is what I wore to the Seattle meetup this past weekend, which you've now also seen in the fun photos Angie, Ann, and Anna shared [1 | 2].

This red tank is new for the season, bought back in March when I was in Arizona for Spring Training and snuck away for some shopping with Claire (so fun!). For spring I've been enjoying wearing it with cropped jackets to really highlight the long back hem, and especially with this little red jacket. Other than the tank and sunglasses, the rest of the items are older favorites. Accessorized with white, gray, and gold/taupe; finished off with a peachy-nude lip.

In meetup loot news, I bought three jackets -- a soft long white blazer, a bright orange tailored blazer, and a taupey-silvery lightweight fabric moto (personally selected by Ann ^^) -- and an oversized gauzy white scarf with little pompom tassels (would you gals believe that I didn't have a white scarf??).

In hair news, my stylist and I decided my hair isn't thick enough for the longer layers I was thinking about so we're going to emulate the round look with short layers and go for a more 80s metalhead thing. Will probably take through summer to get to the final shape and length, so we'll shape it a little closer each month or so.

And in wardrobe news, the day after the meetup I was inspired to finally hunker down and do the first half of a very necessary and a long overdue sweeping closet edit/purge. Once through has reduced about a fifth, and I'm hoping to reduce the same amount or more with a second round soon. I find this aspect of wardrobe management particularly difficult but even at only partially complete, I am already appreciating the results.

As always comments, critiques, thoughts and questions welcome.

Sweet sister! Those are some big hoop earrings, and I love them! The entire outfit is gorgeous, from the white/off white elements to the bright red blazer.

  • Jaime replied 8 years ago

Love the red tank on you! I've never seen your hair not look good, but look forward to the new shape. And great shoes obviously ;-)! Nice to see you, heal up and post more please!

  • Peri replied 8 years ago

Love that tank! Great color and print!

Glad you are better...so you can type your hair volumizing routine, hint hint hint!

  • donnat replied 8 years ago

I always admire your sense of style. Glad to see the post and great outfit. I have hair similar to yours, that I have always straightened. I will be watching your do for inspiration.

This is one of my favorite outfits I have seen this year.  I WANT IT.

  • Sveta replied 8 years ago

Love you in red, Aida. The hair looks gorgeous. I know only too well this line: "your hair is not thick enough for this style..." :-(
High five on wardrobe spring cleaning: I did mine this weekend too I cannot say I reduced it by 1/5 but still it feels better now ;-)

I really love your meet-up look...outfit, makeup, accessorizes and hair. The red tank and jacket with your crisp jeans really create a stand out look. I've been afraid of those tops like your red tank with extra long tails, but seeing you makes me want to try, especially as you are petite.

Aida, so nice to see you in the forum! Love the red tank with the red blazer! I look forward to seeing the end result of the new hair direction. YLF!

Red!  So vibrant and perfect for the day's events.  It's good to see you post again.  You always help me see what's in my closet in new ways with your fabulous outfits.

Those shoes are a dream. I love the look, specially without the jacket, it looks so cool!

  • CocoLion replied 8 years ago

Your hair may not be thick but it always looks luscious and full... much envy about that.

This is ultra chic Aida!  Love your printed tank and that you found it with the lovely, funny Claire.

I loved this outfit when I saw the Seattle meet up pics.  You do suit red so well although I don't think you wear it a lot.  I love it with the white, and the light shoes, it looks wonderful.

  • Debbie replied 8 years ago

I look your meet up outfit. I love the shape of that top. You look great.

Amazing outfit, Aida! You looked even more gorgeous in person. I think I failed to mention it, but I really think your hair is looking great at this length and style. It will be fun to see where you go with it. Your stylist is clearly talented.

Great new top. I love it under the jacket. I can't wait to see how your hair turns out. When I was growing up, I was always very jealous of my cousin with naturally curly hair. I've gotten over that envy, but I still love the look of curly hair.

I've contemplated your Seattle gathering outfit in Angie1s picties, nice to see the setails, too! Color scheme is so beautifully cheering, fit is impecable, love the hair and the silver sandals, too!

  • Summer replied 8 years ago

I, also, was struck by your beautiful outfit when I saw the meet-up pictures - absolutely stunning.

  • Deb replied 8 years ago

This outfit is my favourite of yours....seriously lovely. Everything about it appeals and the colours look fabulous on you. I wish those shoes were still in stock!

  • texstyle replied 8 years ago

Gorgeous outfit - such a happy color and so striking on you! It sounds like you found some great things at the meetup - looking forward to seeing them. Good luck on that closet edit.

  • Susie replied 8 years ago

What a great top...you look fab in red. And your hair always looks gorgeous but I look forward to seeing the new shape.

  • Angie replied 8 years ago

It was an even more killer outfit in person.

Aida and I are orange blazer twins. I tried it on first - then Aida tried it on - and fancied it soooo much she bought one too. It was a fun little shop. High five, Aida. We have quite a few of the same pieces.

Such a cool outfit! Love those bright colours together with your dark hair.

  • Ledonna N. replied 8 years ago

bumping what has already been said.

  • Aida replied 8 years ago

Oh wow thank you all very much ladies! I'm blushing over here ^^

Karie, yesss I loves me some big hoop earrings. I wonder though, at some point they're not going to feel "Big" but I'm not sure I can go much bigger ;)

Peri, yes! I know, I need to get on that. I have some photos, need to take a few more. Hopefully soon!

Una, I feel like you could pull something like this out of your closet. You've got all kinds of interesting hemline tops! Do you still have your citron H&M blazer like this?

Joy, definitely give them a try. As with everything, it's all relative. If you go for tops where the tails aren't super duper long then they certainly can work for us petite gals. Of course if you're into super duper drama, then that's another story :)

Kiwigal, you're right I don't wear red all that often. I like orange more so I usually opt for that, but I do enjoy red and have several red items in my wardrobe. It almost always gets paired with white.

Angie, hah I just couldn't resist the beautiful color, my favorite shade of orange :D

  • Diana replied 8 years ago

So good to see you again! That red top is incredible, and I just love it with the shrunken blazer. Can't wait to see your new purchases.

  • Tanya replied 8 years ago

Such a gorgeous outfit, really like that tank!  Love your hear too.
I hear you about being busy with work, sigh...  Hope your hand is better.

  • Aida replied 8 years ago

    Thanks Diana and Tanya! :D

Gorgeous outfit and color. I've been struggling with a detached tendon since January but it's the little finger of the non dominant hand, so having it splinted has been a slight typing and carrying things annoyance but not too terrible.

  • dashielle (Ann) replied 8 years ago

In the excitement of seeing everyone I neglected to tell you how gorgeous you looked! I can't wait to see your new pieces 'in action' and your refined closet looks. Stay safe ;-)

  • Carole replied 8 years ago

You are wearing my most favorite accent color, Aida, and it looks fantastic on you...and we are Loft zippered skinny jean twins! Love them!!!

  • Aida replied 8 years ago

    Thank you ladies!

UmmLila, eep that long now? I hope your hand feels better soon! I'm not exactly sure what I did to mine, but am grateful it was only a month recovery.

Ann, hah me neither! You looked super as usual. Loved your citron, dove gray and silver palette, so fresh! Do you do white nails at all? I bet that'd be fun with that palette too ^^ Haven't flailed into anything (that I know of) since the meetup, so far so good ;)

Carole, they're super jeans right?? Love the weight, nice and thick.

Oh, I loved this on you when I saw the Seattle photos. What a great top and jacket combo. Such gorgeous colours. I like the long dipped back of the top and I'm a little surprised at how beautifully the proportions work with the jacket. Great to see your lovely self again Aida!

  • Aida replied 8 years ago

Thank you Diane! I'm really loving the long dipped back and have a hankering for more. The short jacket, of which I have many, really does work surprisingly well with them.
