WIW 05.13 [breezy blush]

It was a beautiful day up in my neck of the woods, 85F with a light breeze. Probably my happiest weather. That lovely breeze made photos today a total pain though, hair and blouse flying all over the place! ;)

My original outfit plan included a new pair of dressy blush shorts, but they turned out more sheer than expected (I need to play with them a bit before deciding whether or not to keep them, I'm a bit bummed) so I swapped them out for these slouchy cotton cargo crops while keeping the rest of the outfit the same. I'm just as pleased with the results, though this version is certainly more casual. I've been loving the combo of blush+white+yellow this season, but don't have much yellow with which to wear it: these stingray flats and a golden gingham top are pretty much it! Last time I wore the combo I added a big dose of black, today had to include some gray. Maybe one of these days I'll get to wear the combo pure, heh. I personally love sheer tops for hot weather, I just pop a semi-sheer breezy cotton tank underneath.

I managed to sleep most of my curls out last night and was going to wash it to get them back, but rather liked the beachy-wavyish look with today's outfit so I left it. Accessorized with boho metals in gold, rose, silver and brass (earrings, pile of rings, bracelet, watch, belt); the belt isn't really visible unless I'm moving or stretching, but I enjoy those types of details. Initially I grabbed my white clutch to keep with the original color palette, but thought it'd be more fun to pile on more circles so I grabbed this rarely worn mini bucket bag (which also adds another metallic and plays with the boho vibe) and added almost-circular peachy sunnies. Finished the look off with a less expected bright orange lip gloss (much brighter than it looks here, though it's sheer).

I love the blush top and yellow shoes.  What an unexpected combo!  Great manicure (as usual).

I love the color palette you have going on here.  So soft and calm and harmoniously beautiful.  It plays so well with the soft, draping fabrics too.  Love.

Love! The colors look great on you.

You look lovely in this soft pallet and the yellow flats are the perfect touch.
The blush shorts sound fab. I hope that you can find a way to wear them, although sheerness in shorts doesn't sound like an easy fix.

Nice attention to detail with the jewelry and the belt. (I love the belt...where did you get it?) I also love the shoes...so fun!

That's too bad that the blush shorts are sheer. I am getting quite irritated at all the sheer material in clothing...at least clothing that is not intentionally designed to be that way. Not every piece of clothing looks good with a cami under it, and I don't even know what you would do in the shorts situation.

What a great color combo - I love the unexpected pop of yellow in your shoes. Your entire outfit looks structured yet flowy, and I love how you wear your shorts scrunched below the knee. That's my favorite length!

yellow slingbacks- yep yellow slingbacks!! - you've got me thinking on how to copy this color combo now......hmmmm

The yellow is unexpected and delightful, love it! There's a fair bit of volume in your outfit, but it's all been reigned in with structure in the right places, like forearms, scoop-neck and lower legs, so it works well. YLF.

Nice mani too ( I just ordered some Seche Vite base and top coat btw :) )

Blush, white, yellow! I like it! And my favorite black cargoes in a lighter shade. The yellow shoes are an inspired (or should I say inspirational) choice.

Blush, white and yellow, a great combination.  I recently picked up yellow trousers and I own a blush jacket, I may have to try this out.  I don't have white shoes though, hmm.  Anyway...I was nodding my head with the sheer bottoms observation.  This drives me batty with spring/summer clothing.  What are designers thinking?

Thank you all for the comments! I'm glad to hear this combo resonates with so many of you. I love how it's simultaneously calm and vibrant. Re the shorts, the fabric is quite thin and the color is light so it ends up being similar to the issues we see with the thinner white denims. Haven't had a chance to play with them, maybe this weekend I can sort out whether I have the right undergarments or if they need to go back ;)

Gigi, the belt was from Target many years ago. They do pop up now and again, but I don't see them all that often.

Diane, how fun! Let me know how their base coat is, I haven't tried it but have heard good things.

Pantaloon-y, Drapey and Blush-y. I love the romantic vibe of this outfit, Aida. And your sleepy curls look plenty round and voluminous to me. xo

    Thank you Angie! ^^

Those colors are so gorgeous together, and on you!  Love the shapes of the top and pants together.
