WIW 05.05 [to the hairdresser - UPDATED]

Another wet day today, but it's lightened up considerably throughout the day. I'm off to run some errands (read: returning a bunch of online orders, heh) and then to the hairdresser for a desperately needed hair cut that I've been putting off for weeks while trying to decide (without much success) what I wanted to do with my hair. I'm thinking of changing the shape up to something more 70s and roundy, but it needs to be a bit longer before that really works so we'll see how that goes. Pardon the semi-wet hair, I didn't have time to wait for it to dry before taking photos today ><

The two key factors to today's outfit is that I wanted something that's easy-to-walk-quickly-in as well as something that'd work sans coat because I hate racing around the mall in a coat. OK I'd have considered wearing my cream trench coat but that's at the cleaners ;) Thought I'd give these slightly shiny, relaxed windowpane pants another go (though they still need some alteration at the knee break) and paired with white and mint to bring a little spring to the dreary day. Keeping with the color palette I added my white pumps, gold/white stone earrings, white watch (the leather feels more casual than metal) and black clutch, then some cherry-pink lip tint to finish the look. I'm off now, will report back about hair later tonight!

Very cute! The window pane pants look great with your nude heel and light sweater. Where did you find your liptint?

  • abc replied 9 years ago

I like how you've lightened it with the shoes and mint top. I figured a haircut post was coming soon based on your recent pins :) can't wait to see the after pics!

Love the color combo -- and the way you rock white shoes even with raven hair!  I'm with you on the whole "no coat in the mall" thing.  I'll race in without my trench even when it's 25F in the parking lot!  It's a midwestern thing.

  • abc replied 9 years ago

Haha I'm a no coat in the mall gal, too. Lol BethAnn, is that a Midwestern thing? MO girl here...

  • kellygirl replied 9 years ago

Love the windowpane and mint! It's refreshing. Do you PNW'ers wear pumps and flats in the rain? It must be mild rain? Fab outfit! It's such a treat to get to see your WIWs again!

  • jackiec replied 9 years ago

I like the windowpanes with the mint! Really nice! I pulled the same no-coat-in-the-mall move today - I hate getting all sweaty race walking around the mall :) Good luck with the hair!

  • Jaime replied 9 years ago

The sweater is gorgeous on you and I love it with the black and white trousers. I am intrigued about the idea of altering them around the knee. What does that mean exactly? Anyway, great outfit and looking forward to the hair reveal!

Your color combos!  Are you getting inspo from your nail pins?  Post your hair pix!

Thanks ladies! Glad to hear I'm not the only one who likes to go coatless when dashing around the mall ^^ For the hair, I'm going to need a few interim cuts to get to where I want to go while it grows longer, basically hybridizing the angled bob with the longer rounded 70s 'do. So here's the first of them (#2) along with the goal (#3), though I'll be styling it much softer myself. Also, what I really looked like running around the mall (#1) since I brought my laptop with me :)

K, the lip tint I used here is a tinted lip balm that's very saturated so it behaves like a light tint. It's Maybelline's Baby Lips in "Cherry Me" which is a rich deep pink. Very hydrating, and the look is more similar to a gloss.

Beth Ann, it must be a PNW thing too because seem people ditch their coats whenever possible (and often when it's not ;) )

Kelly, I do see a lot of people wearing their flats in the rain, though it feels like most people here wear boots regardless of weather. It takes a LOT of rain for us to acknowledge that it's, like, rain rain.

Shevia, the knee alteration is to bring up the knee break; these pants are regular instead of petite (which I don't usually wear anyway) so the knee break falls a bit lower than my actual knee. The alteration slims the calf section up a bit higher so that the break falls in the right place.

Una, hah yes I totally did! Inspiration comes from everywhere ^^

I love the new hair Aida.

And playing with all the black and white patterns in #1 makes my heart sing.

Love those window pane trousers and mint is a favourite colour of mine (along with coral). Your hair is beautiful and I like the 70's vibe that you're heading for too.

  • leopardluxe replied 9 years ago

Your new haircut looks gorgeous! Really love the look you're going for.

  • Karie replied 9 years ago

Your new haircut looks gorgeous! And you keep giving me outfit inspiration (thank you!). This time, I have a very similar pair of windowpane pants…a different mint sweater...

  • abc replied 9 years ago

Love the direction your hair is going. It looks great already!

  • merwoman replied 9 years ago

Love your fashion vision Aida, and how it all plays out. You have great attention to detail, and it shows in your outfits.

  • Transcona Shannon replied 9 years ago

Gorgeous outfit Aida and even more gorgeous hair! Loving that soft mint paired with graphic black and white.

  • E replied 9 years ago

I love your haircut! I would have never guessed you have thin hair (I saw you mention it in another thread), and your curls always look so perfect.

And I'm always a fan of mint. The patterned trousers are fun too! :)

  • UmmLila (Lisa) replied 9 years ago

Very nice outfit. I am also fond of mint green, and the mix with the graphic pants is great.

  • jackiec replied 9 years ago

Great hair! Cool inspiration pic too!!

  • JAileen replied 9 years ago

    Your hair is beautiful!

  • Jaime replied 9 years ago

    LOVE the haircut!

  • Angie replied 9 years ago

The new 'do is killer stunning, Aida. You have incredible curly hair. Fun outfit too, Queen Clutch. xo

  • Joy replied 9 years ago

Lovelovelove your hair!  I've only recently discovered mint and was looking for inspiration.  It looks great toughened up a bit with the black (or is it navy?)  What brand is your sweater?

  • rachylou replied 9 years ago

    All cool!

  • Beth Ann replied 9 years ago

Gorgeous hair!  I love the direction your head is, um, headed.

  • pil replied 9 years ago

Your hair is stunningly gorgeous. And a knee break - I have learned something new today!

  • Elizabeth P replied 9 years ago

    Oh, beautiful hair!

  • Jenava replied 9 years ago

Love the colors, Aida!  I think I have the same pair of white pumps.  (-:

I love your hair direction, too.  I'm growing mine out, as well.  i've decided I want to wear it parted and in a long ponytail most of the time...I guess a little 70's inspired, too!

  • TraceyLiz65 replied 9 years ago

Love these colors and the white pumps make it feel very light and infuses a strong Spring vibe.

    Love your hair!!!!!

  • Aida replied 9 years ago

Thank you all so much for the sweet comments on the hair (and the outfit, too). I've been feeling pretty unsure about whether or not to go this direction, especially since the changes are going to be somewhat incremental, but am feeling much better about it now. Plus it looks a lot closer to the inspiration photo today which is super fun!

Ornella, I didn't plan for it but was tickled that my laptop case went so well. Graphic b&w goes with everything, doesn't it?

E, woo! That means all my hair fluffing work is paying off ^^

Angie, aha yes I am definitely all-in with the daytime clutches. I do have a few non-clutch purses that I still love, but my favorite two were stolen during a break-in this winter and I just haven't felt like wearing any of the others since then. If hubby gets me that cute little satchel maybe they'll start to get more outfit time, but I definitely intend to continue representing my new kingdom well :D

Joy, the sweater is from H&M last spring. I think it'll last through this season and then have to go, but it's held up better than I expected.

Jenava, that sounds lovely. The high pony will look great with all of your soft outfits!

I looooove your new haircut and love your goal/inspiration even more.  If I had truly curly hair, I'd be all over that style of cut.  I have an irrational adoration of it.  Or maybe completely rational given how cut it will look on you!

PS, the windowpane check and mint are swoon-worthy!

  • Angie replied 9 years ago

Oh nooooo. I heard about your burglary, Aida. Urrrggggghhhh. So sorry about that. (((HUGS))).

  • Aida replied 9 years ago

K, thank you! I also have a somewhat irrational love for BIG curly hair, I say somewhat because mine just doesn't get nearly as big ^^ My curls are loose and will loosen further during the day if I don't use a curling product on them, and I have to say I was completely shocked with how much a good curl product can do after not using any for years and years. Now there's no way I can go without! These days I am using Oribe Curl Shaping Mousse, which is nice and light, has a heat protectant, and can function well enough on its own without any additional products.

Angie, it was tough; most of the stuff taken was mine heh. It could've been a lot worse though, we were just so happy that the cat was safe and in hiding when we got home!

  • Lyn D. replied 9 years ago

I am glad your cat was safe!
Love the hair Aida- it must be fairly curly to stay that way with the length you have now.

  • Aida replied 9 years ago

Lyn, using a lightweight curling product really helps my hair curl up a bit more than it would on its own naturally, as does blow drying it with a diffuser. On its own and with the aid of gravity I usually get loose spirals that relax into very loose spirals ;) I also twirl the top set of curls around my part for some extra definition which helps a lot.

  • Angie replied 9 years ago

Great attitude. Aida. And bless your unharmed Kitty. Happy replacement shopping. xo
