WIW 05.05 [Ensemble: Denim Shirt & Bell-Bottoms]

Totally adore the ensemble Angie posted this morning! Soooo up my alley. Decided to risk the possible rain (which held out, woohoo!) and wear right away. Paired with a seriously boxy denim blouse, and went a little more casual on the footwear/handbag front. I felt odd not wearing any pattern/color so opted for some OTT with the baubles, poofier bangs, and finished with some bright cherry gloss. Very happy with the outfit, found it particularly challenging to photograph. Has fab movement in person: extra swishy all over! Planning to don another version soon that's more tailored with a denim button-up shirt and dressier bag/shoe compliment.

I haven't pulled these jeans out in a while because they need rehemming -- I've already had them hemmed once -- but they need nearly another inch (!). I'm thinking I'll cut the bottom bit off to let it fray, and also have it taken up. Probably in the reverse order though ;)

Nice to see you, Aida! Adorable as always. :-) Good call on the accessories to add texture and color to the monochrome outfit.I love flares on you, and I'm hoping to do a version of this ensemble tomorrow.

Very nice! The necklace adds a nice pop of interest and color to your all denim outfit.

I like this casual take on the look. How would it look with a semi tuck and belt?

Great colour on you Aida, nice matchy-matchyness with outfit then also with shoes/bag. Love your ponytail and the baubles.

Love the matchy matchy denim Aida.  Those flares look great on you.  Good call on the accessories.

Oh, an Aida post! Exciting! I also wore this formula Friday and I am struck by how completely different your outfit is from mine. I think that means it's great formula. Anyway, I think the same-colored denim almost gives this a jumpsuit vibe and I love your accessories.

Had to log in and take a look. I'm such a fan of your style and I was not disappointed. Love it! The necklace and earring are perfect with the head to toe denim.

Aida, this is really cool. I love how the outfit serves as a backdrop to the great jewelry, and your hair has a kind of pompadour flair. Love it!

(Those jeans need a little hem!)

SUPER CUTE as always. The necklace breaks up the column of denim very effectively. Lovely to see you post, Aida. Hope that you, Davie and the kitty are well. Much love to you.

Nice outfit. I have the same jeans and you inspired me to try something similar.

Would like to add that this outfit is a perfect example that denim on denim can look great.

Dare I say you look like a beautiful blueberry :) ? So nice to "see" you. I love the long look on you and the double denim looks very sophisticated here.

  • Staysfit replied 6 years ago

It's a different look to see you so monochromatic! It creates a beautiful long silhouette and highlights your awesome necklace. I like the complete look best - meaning when you are holding your handbag, and also wearing your sunnies. I think you have a talent for adding the right finishing pieces to an outfit.

I like the column of denim. Pretty necklace, too. Very nice!

Great to see you again Aida. This silhouette really suits you. Love the back detailing on that top.

  • Joy replied 6 years ago

Love. I can imagine the movement of these pieces and that shade of blue is lovely

  • Dianna replied 6 years ago

I like how the silhouette looks on you, and your use of accessories.  Nice outfit.

The top, the jeans, the necklace, I adore this outfit!  And it's nice to see you too!  I hope you are doing well.

  • Sara L. replied 6 years ago

Love this!  I generally have a poison eye for denim on denim but I really like your rendition.  I think it's the very modern pieces you paired together.  The necklace is a fun bit of color.

  • Suz replied 6 years ago

You look great in flares! They seem so fresh right now, don't they? I think the modern top really makes the look work well. I am not averse to denim on denim at all as long as the washes are compatible and here, they most certainly are.

  • Aida replied 6 years ago

    Thanks so much ladies :D

Janet, your legs are soooo suited to flares. I'm sure any version you put together will look amazing as always.

Greyscale, this particular top is too thick for semi-tucking, but I'll definitely do a version soon with my thin chambray shirt with tuck+belt.

Meredith, I agree! This ensemble can definitely skew many different directions stylistically. Love the thought of this having a jumpsuit vibe, hadn't thought of it but am totally in.

Vivian, hah glad you like the pomp-pony ^^ Bangs are in desperate need of trimming, but hey at least this is a fun way of dealing with it.

Angie, YES they really do need hemming!! You know how they relaxed after the initial hemming? I didn't realize it right away and shredded the backs unfortunately. Not as crisp any more. In addition to taking them up am debating whether to also cut and let them fray for a more casual look or have the cuff hemmed in half and keep them dressier. Probably the latter since it's harder to find? We're all doing well, thank youuu <3

Anchie, fun! Hope you'll post your outfit :)

The Cat, thank you very much! I love denim-on-denim, whether it's tonal or mismatched. In the past I've been more variable with the washes, but lately I'm enjoying having them much closer or matching exactly.

Jaime, I'll take beautiful blueberry, a "sweet" memory ^^

Staysfit, hee yes the monochrome felt different to wear, too! I'm back to my usually colorful/patternful self but it was still a fun look. Thanks for the compliment on finishing touches.

Sara and Suz, interesting thoughts on the effect of the modern pieces. The other look I have planned is more classic/70s. We'll see how they compare!

Wow--I really like this outfit! I like the column of denim, the updated 70s vibe. I think I missed this one when I was out of town. Thanks for pointing it out to me in your other post!
