WIW 04.28 [running errands]

Today I had a bunch of errands to run, including dropping off the JBrand flares for hemming, making comfy and easy-walking the order of the day.

This outfit started with the shoes. In addition to being great for out-and-about walking, these little pumps are the heel height I want for the flares and I didn't want to bring a second pair of shoes to the tailor. I count my days off as part of weekend wear style, so BF jeans were the default (and extra comfortable for the several hours I'd be in the car) choice. Grabbed the wildcard duster cardigan to echo the white from the pumps (plus it's fun!), but then struggled for what to put underneath; I generally don't like to layer knits under cardigans whereas I do layer them under other jackets and, with the bulk of my tops being knits and since I don't often wear cardigans, I don't have a lot of good layering options for them. I ended up layering this heathered charcoal tee underneath, which turned out to feel OK because this tee is long sleeved, thin, and just a touch silky. It did feel a bit weird to be wearing a dark top, though!

I was feeling the ALGO vibe, so added the white necklace to pick up further on the white. White stud earrings and white clutch finish the accessorizing. Lastly, a swipe of cherry-pink lip gloss, big pomp-pony, and as I always do with my hair this way, an extra coat of mascara. Perfect for a day of errands!

LOVE THIS!!  SO fab from head to toe!  You've got such a fun retro kinda thing going on there!  :)

Super, super Fab. I vote 11 out of 10. White shoes work with everything, don't they.

Ooh, fantastic sweater! I have been craving a necklace that functions this way but have not found one. Jealous! BF jeans are my weekend default, too.

Love the cardigan over the black shirt with the necklace!  Works so well with the jeans and shoes.

Works superbly - the "wild cardi" is proving to be an inspired purchase, yes?

Fab head toe!. What a great pattern on your duster knit and I love how you added touches of white to lighten the look. I'm enjoying your wiw's :)

I love your wild card duster on you with the black shirt and necklace. Wonderful outfit!

Great look! I am really loving that duster length sweater! So cool!

Love the long sweater, Aida.  It reminds me of a kimono.  I know what you mean about layering options!  The heathering in the grey does soften the dark top, and the white necklace stands out against the dark background.

Oh my Aida - this is BRILLIANT! I love how the white shoes pick up the white necklace which picks up the white in that killer gorgeous duster. I don't find the top dark at all.

That wildcard duster is beautiful! And I would have thought you built the outfit around the duster. I wouldn't have guessed shoes :D. Nice!

I'm curious, why don't you like to layer knits under cardigans?

Thanks for all the comments ladies, I appreciate them!

Angie, yes white shoes definitely go with everything! I had to think of them as "nude" to get my brain around pairing with the dark shirt, since usually I'm wearing them in all light or light-on-top outfits. One of the benefits of being very fair, I suppose ^^

Rabbit, hmm it's an issue of structure for me (part of why I'm on Team Jacket). Most of the time laying a knit underneath cardigans, which are already unstructured feeling, is just too much. The lower layer never feels like it hangs right, especially the necklines; I also dislike seeing a tee sleeve through the cardigan (that little bump drives me batty). Overall it's just a fussy feeling, even if they don't look it. I'd much prefer something woven underneath as cardis seem to skim over the tops. That said, my silkier, really drapey tees seem to be OK to layer, but I have to be in the right unstructured mood for it. Probably weird, but there you have it :)

I love the sweater cardigan.  It is hard for my eye to accept the white shoe even though I have a white boot and a gladiator sandal.  thumbs up for the fit.

What a great ensemble; I love the thought you put into this and the joy you (and others, too!) got out of it.

ALGO is all good with me - love the duster.
