WIW 04.25 [Ensemble: Blushing Tomato]

Angie's ensemble post last Friday is one of my very favorite color combos, especially with orange, white or pale denim blue thrown in! While I would normally be able to sport all kinds of variations on this theme, at the moment my options in these colors which can be worn together are  limited. Couldn't wait to wear this outfit since it's cool out today ^^

Composed almost entirely of older somewhat sentimental pieces, except for the jeans which are from this season: the red jacket was purchased in LA during a big YLF meetup, several forum members had/have this Angie-pick blush sweater, the gold shoes were a gift from my sister, and the designer of the watercolor printed clutch is the only other person I've come across who shares my sister's name (!) down to the unique spelling. Finished with blush rock crystal earrings, retro sunnies, and a swipe of cherry-pink lip gloss for a little more glam. Was hoping my newish navy mascara and eyeliner would show in the detail photo but it doesn't much appear to so you'll have to take my word for it ;)

A happy outfit, though still feeling rather self conscious sans jacket in such a fluid/fitted silhouette (I'll get used to it eventually? The loud colors though, they're totally cool). I'm also thinking no roll on the jeans would've been a little better proportionally but I liked how it echoed the 3/4 jacket sleeves.

Comments, critiques, thoughts and questions welcome!

Love, love the purse!  Great spring outfit.

Fantastic, Aida.  No need to feel self conscious, at all.

  • Mochi replied 7 years ago

I would not expect these colors to work together well, but in each example posted here, the combo is fantastic. In your take on it, Aida, you're adding a streamlined minimalism. I just love its quietly confident glamor. And the cheeky sunglasses shot FTW.

    You slayed it.

  • UmmLila (Lisa) replied 7 years ago

I love it as is (no rolled cuff). Red is always a look at me color, in the best of ways.

  • Muffin replied 7 years ago

    Um, gorgeous!

  • Brooklyn replied 7 years ago

Beautiful. Love the asymmetric top with the jacket and the soft tonal effect.

  • catgirl replied 7 years ago

Just perfect!  Love the effect of the asymmetric tunic under the always-fab jacket.  Hair is getting long and looks great.

  • Bijou replied 7 years ago

Stunning - this colour combination works beautifully on you. I love your red jacket as being cropped it does not overwhelm the look.

  • krishnidoux replied 7 years ago

This color combo was made for you! What a brilliant idea to match it with white pants. Compliments your hair beautifully.

  • celia replied 7 years ago

Beautiful outfit. I always love when the items on my outfits have a story of their own.
I like the way you added the multicolored bag.

  • rachylou replied 7 years ago

    Bang on :)

  • Aquamarine replied 7 years ago

No need to feel self conscious! YLF! Beautiful purse, too.

  • Angie replied 7 years ago

    Killer

And I can replicate the outfit. Are you surprised? *smiling*

  • Diana replied 7 years ago

Lovely. This color combo is so you! I like the combination of the two hemlines a lot here.

  • rabbit replied 7 years ago

Really beautiful, love the shape of the sweater under that jacket, and the colors are amazing of course.

  • Helena replied 7 years ago

Gorgeous. Love the cut of the top.

  • ma replied 7 years ago

Perfectly executed friday ensemble. You look absolutely gorgeous.

  • Jaime replied 7 years ago

The colors are so beautiful on you Aida! The pants length and everything else looks just right to me. Now I want to see you and Angie doing twinsies!

  • Karie replied 7 years ago

Perfect! That color combo was made for you. And I love that clutch!

  • replied 7 years ago

Gorgeous - one of my favourites here lately. Very simple, yet interesting.  I had that sweater in white - one of the first YLF pieces I bought, actually. Loved it, wore it twice I think :)    Curious about the water colour pouch designer - the link you have with the pic no longer works.

Is exactly like the inspiration colors. I like it

  • Sally replied 7 years ago

That is really pretty. I love the assymetrical top. ...looks good with the jacket and the white pants

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 7 years ago

Wow! I knew this ensemble was just made for you. Gorgeous! I like the more fitted silhouette on you--it doesn't look too fitted at all, very flattering, and you wear it well.

  • Aida replied 7 years ago

Thank you so much for the lovely comments ladies! I ended up leaving my jacket on all day so I'll worry about getting more used to fitted silhouettes another day ;) Fun to hear love for the variable hemlines, I really enjoyed the angled lines they created.

Una, yes the hair is definitely getting long! A little too long. Need to get it trimmed up. But I do like this more 70s feel versus the more 80s feel it initially had. I should quit fighting it -- 70s hair styles just work better for me than anything else!

Angie, hah not at all surprised, BSS (big style sis). So fun! Your new gold loafers would work perfectly ^^

Lisa, the bag designer is Kindah Khalidy and I scooped the bag up when Anthro featured a few briefly. It's reversible, though I almost always wear this side out because I like the white in the print (the other side is moodier). Here's her website, and it looks like my clutch is still available in her shop. I am also pondering this little poppy printed clutch.

Sharan, see this is why I need a pretty little blush clutch, right?? ;) Really adore these colors!

Great colours on you! I have no idea why you'd feel self conscious in that sweater.

  • replied 7 years ago

Gorgeous! I love the slim fit silhouette and think its fab on you. Love the way the jacket hemline plays with the diagonal of the sweater.

  • Jjsloane replied 7 years ago

Nice combination of colors and fits. I especially like the pop of the bag with the softer colors.

  • RobinF replied 7 years ago

I am not a fan of red but I love it with the pink! And I agree with the others, that sweater looks great on its own.

  • Chris987 replied 7 years ago

    Wow!!!

  • Mirjana replied 7 years ago

    Fantastic, I am speechless.

  • Bonnie replied 7 years ago

    Everything looks perfect!

  • Janet replied 7 years ago

Really beautiful look on you, Aida. No need to feel self-conscious. The silhouette and colors suit you so well.

  • lyn67 replied 7 years ago

    OMG, it's beautiful!:-)

  • Angie replied 7 years ago

Indeed, LSS (Little Style Sis). Here are my pieces. HIGH FIVE:

  • Sara L. replied 7 years ago

Beautiful outfit!  The soft colors are so pretty.  I love the printed clutch for a touch of pattern.  I think the sweater is very flattering on you, no need to be self conscious.

  • Laurie replied 7 years ago

Aida, you look amazing.  More of this silhouette!!!  As one of the pink sweater owners, I am totally going to copy this outfit, I just love it.

  • Tanya replied 7 years ago

This is so beautiful on you, Aida.  The silhouette is very flattering, and the floral clutch is a perfecting finishing touch.

  • Liz A. replied 7 years ago

Love this outfit on you! Do you have a link for the jeans?

  • replied 7 years ago

Wow, you could be a model.  Like the last shot, very naughty.

  • olga replied 7 years ago

    Beautiful! perfect outfit

  • Aida replied 7 years ago

Goodness ladies, thank you for all the really lovely comments! Re the fitted silhouette -- it makes me feel very exposed in a way that slouchier outfits, or even those with one oversized element, do not. Just something I'm working on getting past since the alternative with the majority of my pieces, overly slouchy outfits, are now making me simply feel sloppy which feels much worse. I'll get there!

Angie, that looks delightful! Liking the double-gold. I could do that, too ^^

Liz A, here is a link to the jeans. They're from LOFT and I think might  come in a curvy fit as well.

  • Liz A. replied 7 years ago

Wow! You make those jeans look so much better than the model.  I'm gonna check to see if my LOFT has them.

  • replied 7 years ago

I love this colour combo and it looks great on you. I think the floral clutch is
'la piece de resistance' and really makes the outfit.

Oh, definitely, you need to get over the feeling of being exposed because this is a very tidy look that works perfectly on you.

  • Aida replied 7 years ago

    Thank you Liz and Smittie!

  • Beth Ann replied 7 years ago

So happy to see this!  I don't wear blush well myself, but I enjoy it on others.  The different hemlines and color pairings make this sophisticated, while the overall silhouette keeps it practical and approachable.

  • Nora Jaye replied 7 years ago

I like the roll on the jeans, but I think you could go either way. The roll is fun, more casual. As a short-legged person, I think if you can rock the roll, you should.

  • Adelfa replied 7 years ago

Hi Aida, I almost didn't look at this post because I didn't think the blushing tomato thing was really my thing. But wow. Besides the cut and line and proportion factors which you totally mastered, the colors look *so amazing* on you!

  • Cococat replied 7 years ago

Beautiful Aida. Now you have me thinking about my blush skirt. I skimmed Angie's post (sorry Angie), but now that I see it in action like this, I'm rethinking.

  • Scarlet replied 7 years ago

Amazing from head to toe! I understand you feel self-concious, but you look stunning.

  • Aida replied 7 years ago

Thank you ladies, what a nice little surprise to find these lovely comments this morning ^^

Coco, I can definitely see you sporting your blush skirt with some white and red; it's a softer combo that's still quite graphic.
