WIW 04.15-19

Hi ladies! Sorry for the absence, I've been sick with a cough that just won't quit. I did manage to get caught up on some outfit photos, though, and wanted to post them. Here's a week of work outfits from mid-April, following the movie poster challenge. Plenty of white and light, and my white clutch is getting tons of use!

1- A twist on a favorite pairing, blouse+jeans+vest, swapping my usual furry vest for my cream biker vest. Worn with cream booties and a white belt to add even more lightness.

2- Inspired by this outfit on Pinterest. Definitely wasn't warm enough for shorts, so I subbed in my olive pants. Have to say I felt very un-fab with the tee on its own (was fine with the blazer on), and have since moved several of my tees to the donate pile. I'd love to get some t-shirt blouses to replace tees' usage in my wardrobe!

3- Inspired by this outfit on Pinterest, but swapping the mint and navy. Skipped the leo pumps since my pants are printed. Worn with candy pink lipstick, which I rarely wear. I think I'd be happier with a bright fuchsia, so that's on my list to pick up sometime.

4- Hubby's birthday, so I wanted to try and wear something he'd like. It wasn't a home run, but he 'liked it enough' so that's a win in my book -_- I'd have popped my denim jacket over the top any other day, but the long BF cardigan turned out nice too. Worn with textured nude tights.

5- I usually wear these shorts in Autumn only, but am trying to work out of that so they get more wear. To keep it light and spring, today I paired with a healthy dose of black and white + a white arm party. I thought this was a fun outfit but hubby strongly disliked this :(

You look fantastic in all of these. I particularly love those printed pants on you:)

So sorry to hear that you're not feeling well!  I always learn from and appreciate the way your freely and artfully remix your items.  I'm particularly fond of the navy printed pants --- so new and fresh!

Having trouble picking my favourite. Love the red striped t with the olive pants, but the mint top with navy print bottoms is so fresh and on trend.
I think it is # 4. This outfit really appeals to my office conservative loving self, but has such wonderfully interesting texture interest.

SO in love with those checked trousers of yours. I cannot get enough of them. And the shorts are brilliant! As for what I am going to refer to as the "buccaneer" blouse in #1, it is spring perfection with that white vest. You look terrific!

A week of fab looks! I especially like #5--so fun and still sophisticated. You look great in the shorts, and I love them with the striped blouse; the legwear and boots are a stroke of genius.

Ooh, I love the romantic, floaty blouse with the leather vest in #1, and all the subtle textures in the b/w outfit in #4.

    Hope you feel better soon!

As always you look great. My fav is outfit 3 closely followed by 2. I like your interpretation better than the Pin.

Yay! So nice to have an Aida post! I LOVE them all but especially 1,3 and 5. The billowy, blush blouse with the biker vest and jeans is just to die for. So spring and fun! Gotta love the white belt--I'm in love with my new one too. The mint and navy is an awesome pairing and the printed pants and light shoes/clutch take it to the next level. Really gorgeous outfit, Aida. Adore the shorts with the playful buttoned up blouse in 5--too cute and sassy for words. Now don't think I don't like 2 and 4 but they are more traditional to my eye. I would totally wear both of those! IKWyM about a plain tee and pants--welcome to my world. The third piece makes all the difference sometimes.

You are looking as fab as ever, Aida. So nice to see you!

It is always a treat to see your outfits, Aida! I hope you feel better soon with your cough. #1 is a fun juxtaposition of flowy blouse and cream moto and the lightness added by cream boots and white belt is just divine.
#2 is so fun. I know you felt unfab in this T but I think the neckline is so flattering on you.
#3 mint and navy look so pretty together.
In #4 you are rocking the patterned nude hose. I am with your hubs in #5 but the arm candy is lovely. Are the bracelets new?

Lovely to see some of your WIW's Aida :) I adore all iterations. Fab floatyness in #1;  In #2 I am with you in prefering the jacket on; gorgeous fresh mint and fab trousers in #3; lovely drape neck top and great clutch in #4 and finally short fabness in 5 with eclectic arm candy. Fab!

Your poses are so cute!  I just love, love, love outfit #1 -- the sheer sleeves with the biker vest, genius!

    Hope you feel better fast!

I can't get past Outfit #1 to look at the rest, Aida.

KILLER to the power of KILLER. That soft pink '70s sleeve coming out of that stiff '80s moto vest is AMAZING!!! All to be topped off with modern white footwear and clutch. WOW!! It's entirely too much for my system to handle.

    *fainting*

(and feel better soon sweet and generous lady)

Aida - how you make 70's and boho influenced outfits looks this incredible, I will never know. You have got MAD SKILLS lady!

I'm with Angie - I actually gasped out loud when I saw outfit #1. At a complete loss for words on describing how fab it is.

Aida, I so enjoy your outfits. Even though your husband/birthday boy didn't care for #5, I love it. The softness and muted colors are very appealing.

  • rae replied 10 years ago
Our men constantly amaze me - what is not to love about #5?? I also love the easy elegance of #3. And I have a vest sitting around unsold... Hm, you may have inspired me to try a silky blouse underneath. Also? that sunglass-modeling face is too cute. :)

Thanks for all the lovely comments, ladies! A great pick-me-up ^^

Kelly, thanks so much for the detailed feedback, I really appreciate it. The white belt has been getting lots of use, along with another white/cream printed belt I picked up at the same time. Since I wear so much white it's such a natural fit! I think I'm almost officially over tees (except a few nostalgic tees), but don't have anything to take their place in my wardrobe. A serious and daunting hole to fill, especially as I seem to be off jackets for some reason :\ I don't know if I'd use the word "traditional" to describe your style, Kelly, but I'll happily take the comparison ^^

Mona and Rae, hubby found #5 too masculine. He also prefers outfits with "one weird thing" as he says; in this case, perhaps having the shirt buttoned up + slouchy pleated shorts + tights/boots + semi-tuck + arm party were too much for him, as these are all "weird things" to him. I wonder if you see it similarly, Mona (and thanks for the honest feedback!)? The only bracelet that's new is the big white cuff, which I bought after Sona posted it a while back.

Angie, oooh thank you!! I'm happy you see the 70s/80s combo in #1, that's exactly what I was going for. I don't know why it is, but I probably feel happiest in outfits that combine the 70s AND 80s together.

Shannon, I'm not entirely sure why 70s inspired things work so well for me, but they just do. So there you have it, I don't know how either :)

Rae, I bet you'd rock the silk blouse + vest combo! I definitely plan to try it again with other silky tops.

#3 is blogger-perfect!  I also appreciate your more adventurous looks as seen in #1 and #5.

What a great bunch of outfits!
Each one is even better than the last, and I love how much variety there is in your outfits.

I adore the red, white and olive of #2! (maybe I'm just fixated on olive pants!)

The color combination is so fresh and unexpected in #3. Love it!

I'm sad that your husband didn't like the last one, because I think it's fabulous, but I hear you about too much innovation in one outfit for some guys.
  • Jaime replied 10 years ago
Squeal! I love your posts Aida! I am dying over #3 - I just love it! The blouse with the moto jacket is amazing also. If this were poorly done (like if I tried it) I guess it might look like too much but it is perfection. And I am sorry to correct Mr. Aida, but you look fabulous in the shorts outfit. All the outfits are superlative versions of themselves, if that makes sense!
  • Lantana replied 10 years ago

Aida, I am very late to chime in but felt compelled to give a hearty endorsement to #5. I love this to pieces; for me, the shirt, shorts and hairstyle is roguish, not bloke-ish.
As always, you look super in all the other outfits too.

  • MsMary replied 10 years ago
Wow!  These are all ridiculously fab!  I love the red, white, and olive copycat!  I've copied that one, too, and I just love the black and red with the olive!  And whoa!  The black and white printed pants with the mint top are sending me over the moon!

But oh. my. goodness.  The last look with the slouchy shorts is my total fave!  Love love love everything about it!  I think it's amazing and maybe Mr. Aida should get his eyes checked!  ;)
  • Vicki replied 10 years ago
Aida, you have such style and you knocked it out of the park in #5 and #1, both of which are my absolute favorites, with much love for the others, too.  Bring on those shorts all year long, please!

Now, may I bring you a cup of hot tea or hot lemonade?  We must have you feeling better.  :)
  • Jenava replied 10 years ago
You know I'm Queen of Blush, so I of course LOVE #1, but I have to say, the printed pants outfit looks AH-MAZING on you.  It might be a standout for me because I cannot wear such items, and of course that makes me love them on you even more.  I also love that last shorts outfit!
  • nancylee replied 10 years ago
So, so cool, Aida.  Love every one of these outfits...especially those print pants in #3.

Nice job with the Pinterest copies!  Hope you feel better soon...
